Can someone please help me with KD Gaur
I have two books by KD Gaur -  IPC textbook and Criminal law.
1. Which book to approach to supplement AK Jain Criminal Law 1

2. After looking at PYQs not all chapters under IPC are relevant so can those chapters be skipped?

3. Help regarding important topics for the different subjects. If someone can please point out important topics from each subjects or share a toppers list or something. I am approaching all subjects from ak jain dukki except for constitution & admin law (pandey, dd Basu, Laxmikant and admin law dukki). Would it suffice?

4. How to approach PYQs since there is no solved book in the market so how to answer them? For how many years minimum? Any link to sample or topper answer copies.

Please help as I am not in touch with any other aspirant or forum/blog for law optional.

Hope you all are safe and healthy.

Good luck
Thank you!

1. I think the IPC textbook is the one needed. However, please go through the contents of both the books and see which one has syllabus related topics.

2. First step should be to go through the syllabus. Entire IPC is not a part of the syllabus. PYQs then help to find the more important topics from the syllabus.

3. PYQs should guide you to find important topics but ideally you should cover the entire syllabus. Nature of optional papers is changing. There are books with PYQs segregated topic wise, it can be helpful [Kalinga publication comes out with one such book. Upsclawptional also has one such PDF, it is freely available on their website.]. I haven't referred dukki for subjects like International law, Contract, Torts and most part of Constitution. Hence cannot comment on its efficacy for these subjects. Regarding Constitution, reading books cover to cover can be a little daunting, I mostly did VN Shukla and Pandey for constitution. For some small topics referred to Dukki.

4. Have't found any solved PYQ book. This you need to do on your own or with the help of a peer group.

Hope this helps.

@Joeyisthebest  thank you for the reply.
One of the main problem with my studies is the peer group. Don't have anyone with whom I can discuss or share my answers.
Anyways if you know someone or a sm group for the same point me in that direction.

Again thanks a lot.

Hi folks. Where are you guys preparing optional based current affairs from? I saw some toppers from earlier saying that they followed livelaw and similar platforms, but I can't do regular check-ins and would prefer having something in a monthly/yearly compilation. I found lawxpertsmv's compilation good content-wise, but it is so EXPENSIVE! If anyone knows of any alternative sources please do share :pray::pray:

@fortarach63 U can try upsclawoptional.in...they have a monthly compilation in mindmap format. I found it good. But its for enrolled students...not free.

@Aks1992 Same here. Please share with me as well. Especially your current affairs strategy for law. Or just post it here if you don't mind and want to avoid multiple messages about this when other people may want to know about your strategy later as well haha.

Has anyone joined the Answer Writing and Revision Prog of Shalka Ma'am Law Optional @ Chrysalis IAS?

@Greyhound my friend had joined her classes last year at chrome.
his experience was very bad.
fees were also close to 50k.
Teaching was mainly from handouts which were outdated.
Best strategy  for answer writing is to make structures for pyq.

And answer writing program is for 25k which is not at all worth.
instead of that enroll in any test series after prelims.

It would be great if you could share it here

Hi, can someone help me with the sources they followed for the last 4 topics of international law, i.e., terrorism, legality of the use of nuclear weapons, NIEO etc? Is there any book/compilation that comprehensively covers these or are we to mostly rely on the internet?
