Hello people, I plan on switching my optional. Can anyone please suggest me some simple/beginners books/lec series of Philosophy to get the idea/demand/nature of the subject? ( I am avoiding to repeat my past mistakes and want to test waters before jumping in .) Thanks :)

Hello! I am not from any of your desired optionals but I was in a similar dilemma and would suggest you try subscribing to unacademy optional pack for a month/ 3 months maybe and attend classes for as many subjects as you want. Attending first 10-15 classes perhaps would give you a good idea about what to expect in that optional. Hope this helped. Goodluck!

Hello everyone.

This is going to be a long post and i am posting in more than 5 years in the forum.

I am an IIT Kanpur graduate and a veteran who started preparation in 2014 and gave interviews in 2015, 2016 but could not make it to the final list.

Thereafter, I got selected in one of the Group A central services and have been working since 2017.

Got back to civils preparation last year but failed both 2021 and 2022 Mains even after completing all papers and decent performance in mock tests.

In hindsight, i feel it is the lack of regular studying on a daily basis as this exam cannot just be cleared by studying 3-4 months.

Considering the above, i am planning to prepare on a regular basis with a regular answer writing for both optional and GS. Further, i am planning to finish the answer writing of previous year optional papers by March 23. The last time I did this with a college friend in 2015 when I scored 276 in philosophy and my friend topped philosophy with 312 marks. So I feel the same is to be done again.

So, here i am looking for like minded aspirants who have given mains before and desire to improve their philosophy scores.

We can make a small group (3-4 people) and schedule answer writing and discussion too.

Hi,

Im doing socio-political philosophy and religion as of now. And I plan to cover Indian portion by January end. I 'm preparing since 2019, wrote mains in 2020 but hadnt prepared well. I also wrote a state PCS with the same optional. If you think it would be useful to write answers to ques in these areas and then maybe glance through one anothers' answers, we could find an arrangement like that. Thanks. Cheers.
