Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread

Summary of FAKE PDF

While there is the menace of fake PDF, and UPSC is known for uncertainties in its result, there are arguments that both support and deny of it being real.

Arguments in support:
a) In past, unedited pdf were available to certain individuals before the final pdf was released.
b) The PDF contains roll no. of individuals who have cleared pre.
c) The PDF contains few nuances, to make it look authentic, e.x. EWS.

Arguments against:
a) I checked roll no. of 10 individuals, who are likely to clear mains- they are consistently clearing mains since last few attempts with big enough margin- and could spot name of only 2 this time.
b) Checked roll no. of 15 individuals, who are less likely to clear mains- based on past records, their assessment post mains, and being first timers- and found 3 names in the list.
c) Point 5 and 6 in the pdf point towards certain documents, which are not present in the DOPT site.
d) The maker of the PDF is not UPSC.

While the PDF might be true, the probability of it being true is slim. So, we should neither get happy nor sad, until final results are published on UPSC website. Cheers

I respect your views. It might be a gut instinct, or you may have seen some objective reason, or even better, you know the individual who has made it.

I am merely trying to pacify the debate and provide solace to individuals before the actual storm hits.
