@STyr history being my optional and after reading 2015-2018 tak ke vision ke answers i found GS-1 very manageable ; gs-2 i found really really tough , i dont think i will be able to repeat 108 marks of 2017 in gs-2 this time not even 100 i guess; gs-4 again i found comparatively on easier side !!

P.S-1 any fresher following forum there is just one advice if you write quality answers you’ll get quality marks so never leave anything on chance and mug up these things as much you can and dont listen to advices like writing this wont fetch marks and not studying for this is ok; you’ll get marks for every relevant quality thing you can write ( you can score as high as 120-130 in GS-2 ; yes nothing is impossible and same with other subjects as well)
I may get out of race this time for final time but this is the thing that I have learned (may well have not been able to emulate) !!
P.S-2 dont believe any veteran at face value ; veterans are veterans because of a reason; listen to advices and then apply your mind before believing anyone.

@paranthapijjayeah some were pin point questions like integrated farming system and cyber dome, but the thing is they were 10 markers; the 15 markers were quite manageable in paper 3 unlike paper 2 and in the end you dont have to write 20 excellent answers you have to write 6-7 excellent rest avg and in 2-3 which are pin pointed and you dont know much about you can beat around the bush and squeeze out something and I was able to do this in paper 3 but paper 2 was a nightmare for me!!

In world wrote a very easy 20 marker totally wrong ( about total war)
Wrote below avg in 10 markers of medieval and modern. However, 10 markers of world were avg and some above avg.
Answers which i wrote very well were MBT’s experiments; Akbar’s rajput policy; german unification; industrial revolution in britain.
Final marks paper 1 ->131
Paper 2 ->136 (where one 20 marker was completely wrong)
So I guess answers which you write well you score very good marks in them; in avg answers also if you have touched all aspects then you can aspect around 50 percent marks.
@sat_009how do you know that what examiner will feel is core and what is peripheral !! Just because it doesn’t match with your understanding !! May be what he has written he has connected it well with the demand of the question ; no body knows how upsc Marks especially in gs where everything is so general!! So yupp do discuss your answers but until and unless there is a factual error how can you say that you will get marks for this and nil for that !!

@SabChangaSihe can get the digital DL in digilocker (if the details of his dl match with his aadhar card details ; saying this because in many case specially in up in past ppl used to get dl with dffrnt D.o.B)
But as transport is a state subject many states does not recognise the digital DL even if in digilocker so getting a physical DL is preferable if it has been lost
@Dreadfuli guess each one of that is imp for interview as well; you need to be prepared for anything under the sun; and ppl of IT background should know about the working of things like digilocker, CSCs etc ( in one interview the panelist asked me .. being a transport officer and from IT background have you ever visited any CSC centre of your district (sadly i hadn’t and could feel the disgust on his face)

I would probably go with that CAB was there in their election manifesto and now passing it is like fulfilling people’s aspirations who elected them ; then rahi baat constitutionality ki and anti-majoritarianism ki to that will be taken care by the apex court, it could read down the legislation after hearing all sides

@atuljihappened twice in 2016 and 17 ; in 16 missed by 15 marks and in 2017 missed by 8 marks;
Went literally numb after 2016 result; had decided to quit; but then after a week or so tried to analyse my mistakes and then started making notes of my optional (yupp had never took any optional classes or made any notes); post 2017 result I decided to skip next attempt ; joined the job and after 4-5 months took medical and joined optional classes (in my last attempt)
The thing is there must have been some mistakes; we usually overlook them between post mains and result phase; post result after being in shock for 3-4 days you need to honestly analyse your performance and work on the mistakes !!

@Kira0705believe me Once you have really developed this mindset of public service .. being in an administrative job is much much more satisfying whether it is of a tehsildaar, sdm, adm or dm ; talking of personal experience whenever i see articles in local news papers and tv channels praising me for my attempts to eradicate corruption from RTO office it gives me such an immense pleasure; there are surely perks of getting into administration at an early age but it’s never too late if you really want to do it !!

Solution
- as you mentioned->e governance .eg of RTO ->vahan and sarthi portals are now there; ppl access with the help of CSC centres ( now these CSC centres are in a way govt authorised agents only)
However there need to be given a wide publicity to these online platforms else ppl still fall in trap of the agents.
An accessible and functional enquiry counter need to be there in every such office so that ppl dont fall prey to agents.
- Need to know why official staff was not able to do the job of those middleman ? Understaffing is a very common problem; here in my office there is provision of 5 clerks however only two are posted; so understaffing need to be dealt with and only after that we should think of outsourcing and other stuffs.
3)finally middleman and officials nexus need to be broken. Many times clerks dont work so that ppl are forced to get their work done through middlemen.
Surprise inspection of offices by district magistrates need to carried out on regular basis to break such nexus.

Suppose you are a DC/DM of a hill district (where tourists also come) which has seen a spike in road accidents ;A major accident was of a private tourist vehicle (in commercial tourists vehicle the DL need to be hill endorsed but that is not the case with the private vehicle drivers)
Moreover some major accidents happened in remote areas where regular enforcement is not possible.
