Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread

@DKTEverytime I would start a new chapter for my MA exams,I would remember something from mains... sustainable development, multiple level planning, vulnerability analysis and wonder "ok this was to b the exact answer...I then put aside my books and again add up the reduced marks and have done this excercise nearly everyday.not to mention the number of times I open upsc website everyday.

@DKTu r right about the sleep and memory fact..good luck to u too for the mains results!

@DKTsimilar story here...i went to this wedding, just to divert my mind from "how did I do,what to expect from this attempt "kind ofstuff.soeverything was just going fine, people doing the Naagin dance dead drunk in front of the groom atop this fine horse..lights,music and I was like ..oh man ,I feel great!AND just then out of nowhere, appears this wretched fellow and shouts in my ear,AB KI BAR TOH Ho hi jaega ...3 sal ki taiyyari h!

1.8k views

@Shubz?well if I had that option a whole lot of such fellows would have been dead by now given the long list of people who have got on my nerves on different occasions!

A specific date for result should be fixed just as the way it is for exam date in the annual schedule of upsc.atleast we would stop checking the website every now and then till that very date.

It would be a little odd to ask this question when we all are eagerly waiting for the mains results but I shall be thankful if anybody here can answer .1) has anybody read all 15 reports of 2nd arc...2) plz suggest an effective method to do so(notemaking and all) if the answer to first question is yes.

@pysh12950and about gs 3 's GST revenue implications?

2.1k views

My response to recent events is primarily shaped by a statement I came across in ignou 'book on public policy analysis ,"the civil servant is a rational functionary whose main task is to carry out the will of those elected by the people".

@TETRACYCLINEthere is no need to repent having not read newspapers.i have been reading since October and there's nothing that the monthly magazines don't cover.3 months booklets won't take more than 3 days.i am saying this bcoz I did the mistake of reading 5 -5 newspaper per day to cover the backlog after 2017 mains .neither did I clear that mains nor next year's prelims ,having wasted time on newspapers, should have revised from ready made sources instead!

2.2k views

@DKTam not talking about the significance of reading newspaper,I know these are important.i m talking about a situation when a person who appeared for mains i.e had been a thorough reader of news before but didn't feel like reading anything due to anxiety regarding results, can do now to compensate for it.besides reading the Hindu is the first thing I do daily.and take screenshots(notes).

2.2k views

@hirockyrocks7101I was just trying to calm down a person who I thought was in similar situation as I was 2 years ago and about being a veteran,5 years is a good enough time for being classified as one ( not a title to b proud of though)

2.2k views

@RaillifeI read the Hindu and take screenshots which are listed datewise in my mobile.later while reading the vision ca of a particular month,I just glance through the screenshots for topics not covered by vision and use a sticky note on the magazine.reading daily news just makes the process of revising from booklet easier.dont try to learn just read...it will get etched in ur memory gradually.

Good that some people are so sure of their success.i on the other hand have never been.after the 2019 mains exam Was over ,my father said ,"do u see how other candidates come out of the exam Hall, laughing ,all happy and u come with such a dejected look as if returning from a funeral.besides I have a history of bad performance in exams I was super confident about getting good marks in and doing good in those where I came back crying!

2.2k views

@pranay3962129and gs 2 this year?

2.5k views

@Raillifenot the whole article...just highlight the relevant facts and then take screenshots..this in reference to prelims.for mains ca , which require information in intro body conclusion format,I only had time for vision mains 365,just flew through them since ca of only June, July ,August were additional rest being already done before pre.i quit reading news after pre.

2.5k views

@The_Powerpuff_girlwe need to spend time in revising appropriate stuff not waste time in gathering it from multiple places.

@hirockyrocks7101I also thought how come 168, 161 was perhaps the highest score in essay in 2018 by rank 51,Vikram grewal

2.2k views

@kochikaamethat's why I asked about previously appeared candidate's experience.information is unlimited.having an idea about what has been asked before is a great help.may b we can form a group of people from our state to formulate Possible questions if we clear mains.

@Shubzcan u plz upload the cat order here

2.4k views

what about those people who were not allowed to appear in mains because of certificate issue,if there are any?

2.2k views

@AzadHindFauzthen which category is moving hc,now that an extended date has been accepted,do they want extension till the date of interview?

2.2k views

@ShubzI was just being apprehensive if they also moved to courts citing injustice,it might further cause issues, bringing the entire process to a halt.

2.2k views

@Caesarbut they sat on the issue for a considerable time without bringing it to any conclusive end further paving the way for appeal to HC and thus further delay.

2.2k views

@deceptrixI really like to hope that what u r saying is indeed the scenario, obviously it's in the best interest of all the candidates, clearing mains or not.

2.4k views

@BulbulSenr u sure?
