@Kira0705These are not strong reasons for any results file to befake.Inthis highly subjective and multi-layered evaluation system,no one's success is certain.
But the pdfs are fake because those working in UPSC confidential section are adequately aware of the consequences of results leakage.

@PiyadassiExcept the candidate's immediate family members, all else derive immense sadistic pleasure from the sufferings of IAS aspirants.Every aspirant should keep this in mind while preparing, appearing for exam, waiting for results and getting rejected/recommended.

@MalcolmThe following factors determine top positions after 15 years(esp IAS)
-Your inter-se seniority, which is determined by the total marks of CSE and LBSNAA training.Mere entry into service is not enough. This is why hardly any reserve category candidate get chance to be union secy even though they enter at the age of 21.
-Very soon, policy expertise will be a crucial factor in addition to inter-se seniority. Those incapable or unwilling to build policy expertise may not be appointed to top positions.
-Retirement age will be around 68 by 2050 due to demographic factors and pension fund crisis.Even though one enters IAS at 32,he/she will have more than 35 years of service.IAS becomes eligibile to be union Secy/Chief Secy of state after 30 years of service

The bitter reality of services is "its own caste hierarchy"
IAS are brahmins
Among IAS ,general merit candidates in top 30 inter-se seniority are brahmins.
Too much discrimination against "non-brahmins" and proportionate frustration.
The glamour of DM fizzles out as soon as "non-Brahmin IAS" realises the bitter reality.

just came across a quote
"I evidently knew more about economics than my examiners"
John M Keynes(I hope non-economics students will know him as well)
explaining why he performed badly in the civil services exam.

I am know more convinced that this exam has always been questioned for its mediocrity. Ex- A JNU sociology topper, who masters critical understanding of original texts, gets 50 marks less than people like Pradeep Singh.

@Dreadful
Legitimacy for political executive lies in electoral mandate and legitimacy for appointed executive lies in their policyexpertise.Itis a well established fact.Generalist service is a fictitious misnomer. The rational behind assessing an optional paper is to assess in-depth understanding of thatsubject.GSpapers are meant to assess general understanding.

The importance of Indian Civil Services, esp IAS/IPS/IFS, is not because of the rigor of the CSE.Those getting recommended are not necessarily the best among applicants in terms of aptitude and attitude. But the services are hugely important in a hierarchical and power-worshipingsociety.Noamount of wealth can buy the social respectability and recognition that IAS/IPS can bestow on a young maninstantly.Asfor job profile, holding influential positions on behalf of people and for the service of people under absolute constitutional protection is beyond compare with a corporate job, however lucrative it may be in terms of monetarycompensation.Itis absolutely worthwhile trying for IAS/IPS as many times aspossible.Itis a romantic adventure.
