Mains 2022 - All Papers PDF + R**** Rona + Paper Discussion

In. Maths optional.

This was my 4th attempt, 4th Mains and now 1st interview call.

Not gonna lie, I feel quite overwhelmed with the result. Mains always felt like a barrier too difficult to cross. It now feels good to finally be on the other side.

To my friends who couldn't clear this time, I feel your pain deeply. If you want to talk or rant, DM me anytime.
As my favorite TV character says, "I promise you there is something worse out there than being sad, and that's being alone and being sad. Ain't no one here alone"
I've found great solace and encouragement here in this community after my past failures. I hope you do so too.

Congrats to those who cleared. May the coming few weeks/months be the best time of our prep.

And the rest of the community here, to the active commenters as well as the silent lurkers, thanks for being here. It feels good to have a place to share one's joys and sorrows. Wish you the very best as well. :)

Hi, can you please tell me how did you improve for your Mains year-on-year , It's being very difficult to know where did things go wrong in GS. Matlab almost answered all questions -atleast relevant to most questions !
But still was out

After 2nd attempt

Here I realised my basics were poor. So immediately joined Dipin sir classes. I also watched Vision classes on Society, Social Justice, Governance as well as Atish Mathur polity crash course.

Watched Neyawn's Answer Writing session too. Made a checklist based on whatever he said and then after my tests, reviewed my answers to see if majority of the things were implemented.

Due to all this, score increased from 331 to 376.

After 3rd attempt

By now my basics were clear so focussed on making specific improvements.

1) Toppers Copies proved to be the best source for analysis.

Compared Shruti Sharma's papers with mine, since we'd both written Forum ke tests in 2021 and hence attempted the same questions. Through this I figured where I was using unnecessary words, where I was not meeting demand of the questions, how to do proper spacing and structuring etc.

Further, you can figure out what extra to prepare based on topper copies. So for instance, Shruti had made a map of famous Bhakti saints. Iske basis pe I also prepared history/art and culture maps. Ended up using a couple in the final exam.

2) Another thing that really helped was having a mentor (Navya ma'am at Forum). After every test I'd show her my copy. We discussed overall strategy (eg. which areas to focus on) as well as specific tips (eg. how to do value addition in certain types of questions).
