Mains 2022 - All Papers PDF + R**** Rona + Paper Discussion

@Hawkeye1301 This exam is a pure gamble. Reasons - 1 People setting subjective questions and evaluating subjective answers should be academically outstanding. But Indian universities are cesspools of mediocre academics. The recently appointed JNU VC committed glaring grammatical errors in her first message as a VC. 2- The scope of Social sciences exist in the imagination of academics, not in reality. So you can't prepare exhaustively. Neither can you claim that you have deep understanding. Most of the CSE papers, both GS & Optionals, are concerned with social sciences. 3- Innovative answer is an euphemism for creative backchodi, overrated by coaching mafias who sell sham products.UPSC coaching is not only useless, also counterproductive. 4-UPSC interview is unacceptably subjective. The whim and fancy of chairpersons determine your destiny.   I am writing all this based on my experience with all three stages of CSE. Don't attach much importance to this game. Just do your duty to the best of your ability. If you are lucky, like all toppers, you will get through.

A piece of advice to all those preparing for personality test.  Make a through background check of all upsc members. Make a thorough  analysis of your own background. Based on the above, anticipate as many questions as possible and prepare tailor made answers to each question. Keep abreast of all national and international issues and have your opinion on them. Be politically correct and appear energetic & optimist. l got 65% in one interview despite committing mistakes regarding etiquette and other stereotypical aspects, which coaching gurus overemphasise .Dont attach much importance to what so called success gurus preach. All this is pure wastage of time and money.

But these are expected issues. They require reading the newspaper regularly, and some observation. May not be possible through magazines.

Dont bullshit. You can not expect these questions, nor can you answer the way the UPSC question setter wants. This is why I repeatedly tell people that UPSC coaching is not only utterly useless, also counterproductive. They know know nothing, and they misguide you. They thrive only through brainwashing advertisements on The Hindu front page.

what is your deep down feeling people ? will u b clearing this stage ? i mean we all know how we did

I'm 101 percent sure to clear mains with extra fuel to last till the final pdf. I'm so much overconfident that I'm just excited and not nervous for the results at all. So if I don't find my roll no in the list, I must quit thhe preparation since this was my best attempt and my potentially best attempt. So atleast there is a great carefree clarity to me.

Post your roll no here. Unless your optional is a science / engineering/ literature subject of which you have absolute command, you will be living in fool's paradise, despite your "potentially best efforts".

Preeti Sudan as member of upsc. ( Andhra government accussed of her corruption in past).( can be genuine or vendetta)

Jis Kise ko yeh madam ayegi, Vo corruption ke bare me batt no kare.

Usually heard from many sources that upsc member gets irritated when candidate talks of this issue and awards less mark.

Post 2014 most UPSC members, except defence officers, are tainted. Previous chairman joshi-murli manhor joshi relative -is a well known scamster. An academic with highly dubious credentials,he has been becoming public service members for many years - mp then chhatisgarh then upsc. There are serious allegations against him.The current chairman  is a brazen hindutvawadi. He comes to office with saffron paste applied on his forehead. He was speech writer of Modi, when modi was cm. He has no academic credentials, whatsoever. Smita Nagaraj is a well known corrupt person implicated in scandalous defence deal. These people are hard to deal with. You have to pretend a lot to stand up to their expectations and mediocre standards. I was screwed by Soni, who awards either 180+ or 130-. There is nothing in between on his scale.

@abc123 defence officer kyu nahi tainted ho sakte. Service selection board mein bhi corruption/nepotism ke allegations hue Hai.(don't know the veracity of facts- didn't follow the matter)

Pakistan mein to Bajwa ne toh crore kamaye. India mein bhi hote hain par media itna cover nahi karti( because of national honour)

Their corruption is not publicly known.

@abc123 where corruption is not publicly known? 1pakistan 2SSB

I am talking about top Indian defence officials like chiefs or vice chiefs, who are appointed as UPSC members. They may be involved in scandalous deals, but not discussed much in media.

bhai ye history aur math ka kya issue ho gya hai scaling mein.History walo ki lagne wali hai kya 😂😂

Dont compare math with history. If a candidate has done really well in math, she / he will get very good marks irrespective of scalling uncertainties.

My friend -an IIT passout -devoted two years to having command of math. He  got 300 + in three consecutive years. Meanwhile he learnt the art of backchodi in GS and essay. Last year he got IAS in EWS quota. He came to exam centre in 30 lakh sedan.

History optional walo ki halat after hearing scaling issue in Mains 2022 result revision news on telegram due to low representation.

There is no representation of subjects in CSE parliament. The equi-percentile statistical moderation adopted by upsc is blind and impersonal. After paper evaluation is over, no manual interference is allowed.

This winter evokes deja vu in me. In 2018,first time I waited anxiously for upsc results, which were declared around 12 AM on Dec 20. On seeing my roll no in the shortlist, I went wild. I went on a long ride on my bicycle, lost in ecstatic reverie.

@abc123 what are your hopes this time and based on what factors ? how was ur exam this time?

Since 2019 I have lost many precious things, including my loving mother. I have tried hard to learn to live without expectations, more so in upsc matters because of bitter experience. I am unable to assess my CSE performance as many factors are at play, beyond our control.I just hope against hope for ending my upsc journey on a positive note.

winters are my favourite. when i was a kid i used to wander in my entire village during deepawali days and watch rangolis and rate them doing all this on my bicycle. at times i wonder how pre internet times were unnaturally beautiful and joyous. I don't remember missing internet to lead a fulfilling life back then. I'm thoroughly convinced than internet has enslaved the human essence.

You are so right. Internet has alienated us from almost everything that is natural.

Bhai I don't  know much about evaluation process( scaling).

Telegram par bol Rahe Hai ki maths ka result bahut Acha Hai aur history ka bahut bura. Aur revision ho raha hai.

Are you from maths optional?( if yes Mubarak ho)

Do you know the procedure of scaling?

What is equi percentile statistical moderation adopted.( in simple language).

UPSC once mentioned about equipercentile method in its supreme court affidavit. And it also mentioned that it is fair and impersonal. I am not from math.

I think we aspirants most of the times tend to overestimate our competence. Coming with safron paste on forehead is his personal choice and right too. And allegations about corruption remain allegations only, unless proven. Having respect for members, not for the sake of it but genuinely, will help when one interacts with them in actual interview. One’s body language speaks what words don’t. Imagine yourself a UPSC member and you sense that the candidate despises you. Will you award marks to him or her liberally?

Dear friend, many people despise hearing anything against UPSC, for it harms their subconscious optimism. So I would like to make some points clear.1- UPSC as a constitutional body is a pride of our democracy. Though many tainted persons enter it through political connections, the institution remains largely unaffected by any individual. UPSC conducts exams as fairly as possible. 2- UPSC takes very seriously any issue that affects the fairness of the exam, be it coaching or cramming or language translation or controversial question. UPSC addresses all issues sincerely. I personally sent a representation on 2020 prelims economics question. The question was cancelled as the options were wrong. If that had not been cancelled, I could not have qualified 2020 prelims. 3- UPSC deals with candidates kindly. I forgot to bring photocopies of my original certificates during interview. The staff asked me to appear for interview first without any tension. After interview I was taken to their exam section, they photocopied my certificates in office and returned my certificates. 4- Prelims and mains written logistics preparation is a humongous work. UPSC does it flawlessly well in time. UPSC publishes results in a time bound manner. 5 My only concern is subjectivity and prejudices in main written and interview, for which academics, not UPSC, are to blame. Baswan sir has addressed this comprehensively. The sooner his recommendations are implemented the better. Total interview marks should be reduced.

Spot on in last points . The academics are biased. Did masters from jnu .Don’t know much about beurecrats and army personnel.Academics of india from any colur of political spectrum live in their own self righteousness shell . They are too rigid to reflect on their own biases and stereotypes. For example

1,Many Asspirants are worried about their handwriting. Surprisingly there sre many toppers with poor hand writing . But ,ones a senior professor from jnu ,told me about the test copies of jnu subjective entrance exam . She said we didn’t  even use to read copies with bad hand writing just give poor marks . Whatever upsc does to keep process fair this attitude is what determines our marks .

2 .Ideological biases .Every thinking human being have some ideological tilt . In humanities subject if the professor evaluating your copies ,don’t agree with your ideas . For sure your getting less marks . There are always exceptions but this is the rule. Think of the IR questions or questions on impact of LPG .

Only those who have pursued master' s degree in social sciences at top Universities can appreciate your points. I fully agree with you.

Got 3rd interview call in 5th attempt. My lessons/experiences 1- l am no more thrilled over getting interview call. For I dont know my written score and interview fate. 2- l didn't calculate my score after mains, didn't participate in any question answer discussion, knowing well that all this is futile.I will never advice anyone what to do, how to attempt answers. Because I have not listened to anyone. I dont attach any importance to so called toppers and coaching gurus in this great Indian gamble. 3- In an earlier post I explained why this exam is a pure gamble. I stick to it despite my success. 4- I have been able to endure this excruciatingly painfull preparation process only because I derive immense pleasure from intellectual engagement. 5- when I first got interview call, my relatives said I didnt mingle with them because I looked down upon them. After my failure they said I did not mingle with them because I was ashamed of my failure. In fact, I enjoy solitude in a treacherous world.
