[Offical] AWFG 2.0 - The SFG for Mains 2021 | https://blog.forumias.com/AWFG21 - NOTICEBOARD

@Neyawn@forumiasacademy@Farejul

It looks like the generic QCA provided for entrance will be the same for writing tests as well. It has space for 7 questions with 2 pages for each question. This roughly translates to 7 questions of 10 mark, with no 15 marker questions.

I feel it underwhelms the 1 hour practise session which was pivot of  earlier AWFGs. I have been part of two. As you will be knowing, we used you have judicious mix of 10 and 15 marker questions which translated into unmatchable 1 hour practise sessions of answer writing helping students improve speed, thought process and on the spot improvisation. It very well mimicked 1 hour of actual mains. Mains was just extrapolation of AWFG test.

I personally know people who were able to complete paper only because they wrote those 7 questions which were exactly proportionate in manner they are to be written in 3 hour papers. Doing away with this mix of 10 marker and 15 marker the programme is loosing the most significant advantage it used to have.

I also understand that questions are not marked but are graded so this division of 10 marker, 15 marker may seem like artificial. So let it be, do away with with this distinction, and have mix of 2 page questions and 3 page questions. Because doing away with 3 page questions means, if we calculate, writing atleast 2 pages less per hour, which is equal to atleast 1 question less! ( I hope you got my calculations..)

Also, in GS 4 schedule, we used to have, in earlier AWFGs, atleast 2 case studies each day for 1 hour paper. This was exactly proportionate to 3 hour paper. This year it seems like there won't be any case studies everyday and  only one day is dedicated to case studies, as per the calendar. I feel earlier pattern was superior as it gave equal weightage to part A and part B of the paper. Everyone knows case studies is sure shot 120 marks part of exam and allocating only 1 day for case studies seems poor and unreasonable. We had better model, more suitable and highly beneficial than this. Why fix if it ain't broken!

@TAUREAN294 @forumiasacademy  “handouts on lines of concept classes” should not be done away by giving more priority to model answers because
1. during revision just before mains examination or full length mock tests, hardly anyone revises model answers of previous tests.
2. These handouts will help in issue based preparation.

I agree with some of the suggestions given by fellow aspirants such as:
1. At least  1 case study with each ethics paper.
2. A mix of 10 marks and 15 marks questions for GS-1,2,3.
3. In addition to combined RIS score, report on marks awarded by evaluator in each question should be made available.

Saying hardly anyone revises model answers is your personal opinion without any substantial backing. I, along with my friends, who were part of AWFG earlier share exact opposite experience than your opinion.

I have been part of MGP, wrote V for practise but more often than not ended up only revising AWFG model answers just the day (or night) before mains. They had more relevant questions, crisper answers and had more masala which can be used in other questions.

Sir/madam, in case you can provide marks secured per question, it would be of immense help over next two monhs in seeking what works, what not.Otherwise same mistake would keep on repeating over next two months and beyond.

Since individual answers are already evaluated, I am sure it won’t be a big issue uploading them on excel and bringing to us.

Regards.

@forumiasacademy @root

Sir / Madam,

while I can see other questions posted here were addressed, mine was left unanswered. 7 people liked it, it meant they were also seeking answer for it.

In case, answer is ‘NO’ from your side, please convey before last date of few payment is over. Let us take an informed decision before investing ₹6k, no ?

Regards

Mera to usse bhi pehle wala comment tha, Even root liked my comment, but still no response!

Ab question wise grade hi nahi bataya jaayega to mere suggestion ka koi use nahi, warna I was thinking to propose something more like -

Composite Grading System unlike the one which was there in entrance test QCA. Composite Grade would have 3 4 sub grades like (1) Demand of the question (2) Content (3) Structure (4) presentation. Each subgrade would be awarded separately, for each question, to arrive at composite grade and then RSI. Such system will bring in more transparency, objectivity, and leave lesser scope for confusion among aspirants. It will make the evaluation and grading component of programme more meaningful.

Spamming mailbox by payment reminder countdown emails kind of leaves bad taste in mouth, please please don't do this. I had to say this because same thing happened with registeration countdown too, also same was the issue in SFG.

It is so unlike of ForumIAS!

@forumiasacademy@Farejul

Hello,

Can you forward the emails to ravi@forumias.com - all the mails.

We certainly hope that enthusiasm of the communications team is not reflected in this manner. this isn’t our vision of how we want to do things.

P.S. We had to do a major revamp to accommodate your suggestions. Had to redo a lot of things. But it’s done.

All demands accepted !!

You shall have two case studies tomorrow. At least one compulsory!

Thank you very much, I feel, we did the right thing.

I don't know whether you remember or not but last year too we made some good changes in AWFG and MGP schedules. Going paper wise rather than covering overlapping topics together was also my suggestion, now it has been followed across programmes.

Regarding emails, It looks like each email needs to be forwarded individually, Is there any bulk forwarding feature in gmail?

Adding to that, number of likes to my parent comment suggest other users too feel that there is an issue!

@farejul is it possible to have separate section for 10 markers and 15 markers? as nothing was mentioned on paper i attempted all questions as 10 markers.

Gs4 main kya 10 marker 15 marker, sab kuch 10 marker hi to hai except case studies which are for 20 (4 pages for it)

For others papers division sounds a very good idea.
