@Raillife As per my understanding.

For 1st Doubt
I think there are two reasons:-
1) There isn't a lot of plain land, as there is a natural inclination towards south east all through the course of the rivers leaving little scope to meander.
2) Hard rock below and little deposition brought by them. Since, the deposition is less, there would be less erosion and thus lesser curving/meandering.

For 2nd Doubt

Himalayas led to the formation of rift valley, leading to the creation of Narmada and Tapi.

@Steph_Curry You would be right had these forests been at mean sea level. 
however, the vegetation is temperate because they are 1500 m above sea level.

With the same logic, the vegetation is subtropical at lesser heights of the same forest.

@exman i think most of the people cut themselves off from anything else, dedicating 2 months exclusively for prelims.
