How is it likely to impact marks if you've written something wrong? Not fully wrong but wrong elements in between..For example:
1. India USA equality: wrote about different origin...1776 declaration of rights of man and citizens (excluded women, slaves etc) vs Indian constitution gave it to all. But ye declaration France ka tha...and got to know now that right to equality was added later in US constitution.
2. In Legislative council question, started with article 169, has to originate in State but then also added that president refers to state but is not bound by its opinion (article 3 wala requirement).
Just saw vision analysis of GS 3. He says paper this year is more 'doable'. Agreed there were many factual questions. seeing the analysis, i feel only I am doomed one. To summarise my attempt:
1. Getting 0 (no attempt): Blue LED and Air Quality.
2. Charity marks: S-400 (nothing specific).
3. Below average (1-2 specific points only): GDP revision.
4. Average: NFSA (could not recall provisions except 2-3 specific), last 3 decades earthquake disasters.
5. Good: cop 25 outcome and panchamrit answer was well memorized.
Is this performance too disastrous and should I not keep any hope? Or has it been like this for most of us who have actually written in exam conditions?
Wat was the issue wrt preferences?
Filled up IIS at top so got allotted. Baad mein pata chala it is a candidate of 18th-19th preference order. Spoke to some serving officers who were not happy too.
So, definitely not IIS. And Audit, defence estate, postal before this.
@zombieland worst came after selection. Filled wrong service preferences after top 5 services. Got recommended. Celebration and social media hype and all locally. Ultimately, didn't join the allotted service (IIS) and now answering everyone why I didn't join after clearing "IAS exam" and why I'm still here (state Group B). Own decision to not join and stay back here considering lot of factors. Happy about it.However, hate myself for not thinking much while filling up preferences.Yes.. can totally understand you
Similar issue here.
Didn't care much about service preference while filling daf barring first five.
Allocated IPTAFS.. could have gotten IPoS or DANICS or ICLS ..
Currently, in a decent pvt job(in electronics field), which seems perfect comfort zone.
A tough call i have to take it. I don't have any attempts after the current one .And I don't know if I can spend my rest of my life in that service.
There was a time when i was desperate to get any service so that i can bank on it to continue preperation. But this came quiet late in the day.
Letting IPoS go will be one of the "three mistakes of life" moment. You get a powerful position as region head too early in career with accomodation, car etc.along with some financial powers (very rare early in career for central service). They have well established infrastructure too. And deputation is easy.

IIS is considered a bad service. No proper promotions, no powerful posts. BTW, don't agree with putting Defence Estates service on top. It's a poor service. You may get a nice house in the beginning (and may be a car too), but that's about it. Promotions are bad and you don't wield any power. I myself had put it on sixth place, after seeing someone's blog post, but luckily didn't get it.
Got to know when it was too late.
Defence estate for tag of CEO early in career, administrative nature of work and good defence infrastructure. But as you said about promotion, it'll remain CEO for many years. Don't have much idea beyond this.
Once the results are out, let us again discuss the preferences based on our experience and knowledge. it'll help those filling DAF II to make an informed choice.
By the way..
Those claiming to have not joined the services after getting recommended are quiet about sharing the marks they scored..
Only talk about the posts.. because sharing marks will expose them..just like DKT
Bhai the reason for not Sharring marksheet is the trouble of opening laptop, finding it, using hotspot to open WhatsApp web then transferring it. Plus, your tone makes me want to say you can believe whatever you want.
Regarding audits, since this is March and we're preparing for receiving audit people, practically, they are powerful. We at lower levels will face minor inconveniences in searching files and answering queries. HoDs will make sure they're "happy". They are powerful.
The only two services, which won't see any reduction in power, in my opinion are the IPS and IA&AS. IPS, because police is a necessary evil, and "powerful leaders"(who are on the rise all over India) like to keep police on their side.IPS will see an increase in power in the future.
IA&AS will remain the same, as it's the only service in the list which has some kind of constitutional backing (CAG), and if their powers are reduced, will result in huge political furore.
IA&AS is a powerful post..
Nice try dude..
First time heard that..
Nobody cares about them btw..
They keep looking for some calculation mistakes in accounts books.. but guess what..due to digitization that scope has ended..
All they get is chai nashta lunch from the pocket of staff members of the office where they audit ..that is all
System audit can't replace human audit, unless the AI becomes powerful enough. System can throw out the discrepancies in numbers, but it requires a human to make sense of it and arrive at good conclusions.
Bhai IAAS ka main benefit is just fast promotions. Rest itna koi audit ka power nahi hota bas thodi nuisance value hai wo bhi bohot jyada nahi hai. People in field are well aware of rules so audit doesn't scare them much.
I am in 4th year of service now. I'm yet to be a part of any project where rules are complied with 100%.
So, audit scares everyone. It's not scare also. It's something else. No one wants trouble of audit para and all. Hence audit people will be kept "happy".
Trouble of sharing marks..
My tone .... Wow..
Good defence by the way..
Must have felt proud saying I declined the services.. elaborated so well..
But so much pain in sharing with others to make yourself a bit more credible..
Anyways.. I think RECOMMENDED have their own way of thinking..
Not proud bhai. It was a very difficult time. People eulogize the exam too much. Sadly, everyone thought I cleared "IAS exam" but then I'm still here. So answering so many questions now. Infact, had stopped socializing for a while.
I wish you get good rank and desired service.
