@Neyawn got wrong. Felt extremely frustrated with myself when I saw the solutions.

@Neyawn  absolutely agreed sir.
The reason for my disappointment was precisely because of my optional subject.
In nearly all questions where some level of abstraction is required to reach the answer, first principles thinking must be applied. Hoping to find more such questions in subsequent tests.
Thanks

Anybody can clarify how Constitution provides for a High court for more than 2 states? Isn’t it provided for by the Parliament?

"Fundamental Rights cannot be taken away through promulgation of ordinance by the President. "

Following doubt is not with respect to change the correct answer of question 13 which is option A unequivocally, but just a general doubt. The statement is Option D of Q 13.

The sentence at the top, although mentioned in Laxmikant as it is, feels a bit ambiguous. Parliament can actually take away FRs without altering the Basic Structure(as per Kesvananda Bharti judgement). Since ordinance making power is coextensive with it, should it not be able to do same as well? Why such a blanket statement?

As a side note, I checked DD Basu's book. It has the following to say about this issue: "An Ordinance cannot contravene The FRs any more than an Act of Parliament." This seems to make more sense and also makes this option incorrect as well.

@Neyawn any inputs?

@Lawstice I hope there's definitely a difference between the two.
Role in enactment is part of the legislative process. The process of a bill becoming an act completes with the Governor's assent, unless reserved for President.
Executive role is a much larger domain where all executive actions of the state are carried out in the Governor's name. The workings of the government (not legislature/assembly) is all that falls in the executive work. All of that is carried out in Governor's name.

@BNA1991 I think it has more to do with the test itself. This was a low scoring one coming after high scoring polity.
Get well soon.

@heisenberg_  I didn't qualify in the similar range. I feel his pain 😅
The margin of error was small I guess. You should aim to never be at the edge, things boil down to ambiguous questions there. Always aim 110+.

@KMalone I think this statement is in context of dominion status vs complete independence issue. Regarding that, Nehru report was not unanimous.

When you score low, you feel disappointed, scared that a lot is still left to cover...

When you score high, you fear that this might be a one off case, and that there is still a lot left to cover... and it might just be a case where your negatives were very less, you could easily eliminate from options, and whatever you did worked.... You are scared that this might not happen in the actual exam....

I am exactly feeling this way... After two successive days of low scores in History, today was a bumper high. I have been weak in History, and I am aware of that... So, high or low, both mean the same to me now!!!

Today is a revision day!!! Have a lot to revise

Scored low again....
Why? Because of two reasons mainly
1) Confusion in the finer details...
2) Interpretation issues....

Moreover,@forumiasacademyplease update the keys for the previous year questions provided in your website to make them consistent with the official keys....

The very thought that what if I lose marks in the actual UPSC exam, not because of factual errors, but because of interpretation issues, is making me anxious.

Especially after scoring at the edge in consecutive prelims 🥲
