@GaneshGaitonde Totally agree with you bro. UPSC has become an INSENSITIVE and CRUEL organization which is making this exam a random lottery based exam. Having given Mains 2020 and spending around 4-5 years on this exam, I deeply feel that your hard work might not be fully respected by this commission. While looking at those 3-4 sports question, I felt like someone is throwing a cruel joke on aspirants who prepare for 3-4 years, undergo tortures of different kinds and make so many sacrifices for this exam. In an exam where 1-2 marks decide your 1 year, don't these guys have sensible and conceptual questions to ask. Will knowing about Federer and Tiger Woods' awards make you a good administrator??2017,2018,2019 & 2020 papers were also tough but I never questioned the logic behind asking those questions because those were still sensible questions. But this paper is just like a random lottery in so many ways. To all the aspirants, I'd like to say that stop worshipping UPSC and this exam. Just treat it like a normal PCS exam. Look at the way these guys treat the people who reach up to the interview stage and don't make it to the final list. Can't they absorb them in some other posts where at least those guys can have some financial security. Who treats such talented people like crap? Just because someone didn't make it to the final list, will you ask him to write this kind of Lottery based random Prelims again? There are many great jobs in this world where you'll find great satisfaction, happiness and will be rewarded duly for your hard work. Life is much Bigger than this random lottery based exam. So never attach your self-worth and confidence to this kind of exams.

I think a lot of people have said this and it's a very obvious thing to say.
But, it's ridiculous how coaching institutes and subject matter experts can't come to consensus on answers after a week with all the resources in the world at their disposal. And yet everybody expects candidates to get them correct in a pressure cooker(😛) situation in less than 90 seconds
Even if the exam was open book, people would mark different answers for these questions.. speaks a lot about the ambiguity at play here..

@Phantom It always happens. UPSC playing the wrong ball. They should stick. to syllabus and set guidelines . They should introduce randomness within the zone of syllabus but asking anything like roger fedrar or virat kohli etc. is making aspirants pessimistic in hard work which they always put in by self study.
Sports questions itself constitute 10 marks..so effectively paper was for 190 marks for thoae who prepared solely for upsc (not inckuding state,bank etc)

Q.56Right now i am feeling utterly clueless. I am unmoored. I was happy eating samosa with chutney and suddenly my father started quizzing me on rivers. Dhauli meets ganga where, Which tributary joins at rudraprayag etc etc. As soon as he asks me something it seems something in me goes missing. He shouted at me a lot, saying stuff like "you don't study that's why you don't succeed" "You are useless in all aspects, right now you should stand with your head bowed and you are crying like this. You have an attitude problem."
I am thinking about two options. Either I should run away or I should die. I know I sound melodramatic as hell but I just can't take it anymore. I don't have any way out. I am not smart enough or I don't work hard enough I don't even know anymore. I have saved some 30-35k and I am genuinely thinking of running somewhere, eating a lot have fun and then go die somewhere quiet in a way that won't bother anyone. I don't think I have anything to give to this world anyway. I am sorry for dumping all of this here, I know this is not the place for it. Everyone here has their own problems and are fighting them. reasons:
1. Increasing coaching institutes especially online ones/telegram ones
2. rising people attempting it
3. less seats (Its now half o what used to be in 2014 -15 i think)
4. Only 100 questions ..they need to frame within this
5. csat becoming eliminator and especially RC one cant comprehend in limited time
6. role of AI/ML (which some coaching centres started to use)
I feel atleast they should recruit twice an year...like jee exams being conducted twice

He told me avery beautiful thing which I am proud of, he said, you have become a better and much informed individual for your age, while my colleagues children of your age are busy in their jobs and earning well but all they have become is a pay package. They are reduced to individuals with a tag of say 10, 15 lacs package and nothing more than that.I am proud of you that you are different, even though you don't earn now, but that's still fine, because eventually you will. I have never seen any educated and well formed 30 year old man not earning..So even if I don't clear it, i think i have received my samadhan..
You are lucky...not all parents are such..some curse their wards for being reduced to being in this “non productive” field...and make the guy/girl look dejected and miserable
