@Adityaingole Hold your horses. At least till CSAT is not over. Of course, prima facie it will increase but by how much will be decided by the afternoon paper.

Cut off would increase but will certainly not shoot, since the questions were also on factual side, which mostly people guess.

Just a reminder: Usually the ones sitting at home find the paper VERY EASY.

My take: Paper was not EASY per se but it lacked the shock factor that usually wrecks the nerves of the aspirants. This is why people are "FEELING GOOD" about this paper in general.

The period from the prelims to the next 2-3 days is a very vague zone where nobody knows whether paper is easy or not or what the cutoff will be. As we know that UPSC is no less than a war and you can see things clearly only once the dust has settled.

Let people check the answer keys and only then we'll get to know how much the cutoff will be.

It is advisable to go on a trip or vacation away from this UPSC space. You'll be able to gather the strength to study intensely for Mains only when your mind is rejuvenated. However, this should be done quickly as the gap for the Mains is already one of the lowest.

cut off will shoot definitely. It is the easiest paper in past 5 years.. even though I didn't appear because I fell in the washroom n had a blackout.. cut off should be around 100 this year.. what other members feel..

i disagree, because this year around 7-8 extreme statement questions + other conventional option elimination tricks (ex- assuming data, organisation, etc to be incorrect)  turned out to be correct, so i believe theinvisible handof upsc will do its moderation. Same reason why PYQs always seem a cakewalk but are otherwise unsolvable in exam conditions, trust me when i say this, but i'vealwaysscored the highest in the papers i never appeared for.

I hope you're health is better now, please take some rest, though you didn't appear today but i'm sure you've worked hard the entire year. All the best buddy!

@Incoming True. I had cleared prelims last time as well. Honestly speaking,I was feeling better last year compared to today. There were a lot of factual questions unlike what UPSC are used to asking.I had to increase my attempts just because of the fear that paper appears to be an easy one and hence every one would do the same. However , I ended up making mistakes and so did few of my friends who had also cleared prelims last year. While I certainly believe, that cutoff would increase ,given that CSAT was also on the easier side, but to say it would touch 100 would be not be apt . I personally believe, it can go upto 85-90.

@Mohit31 Exactly and yet noone (very few) crossing the majority mark (100). A founder of a renowned coaching at 6 PM yesterday said that cutoff will definitely cross 105 and don't be surprised if it crosses 110 as well. Unfortunately, the data on their own platform belies these expectations (some prelims analytica platform of nextias) with hardly 10 % candidates scoring above 100. Ofcourse cutoff will increase but it is more likely to be 95-100 range because 90-100 is where the high clustering is. But to say that it will 'shoot' is an overestimation. Jo exam ke baad bahut khush the unke bhi zyadatar ke 90-100 hi aa rahe hain. Of course few exceptions of 120 plus but they were always there I guess, even in the last year's paper.

Is it correct to say that cut off will be comparable to 2022 ?
