[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

In other news:

Making a very BOLD statement UPPSC has released its latest notification for the PCS2020 exams with affirmative dates and timelines, with the pre exam happening as early as on 21st June, 2020. Take that! :sunglasses:

@Admgenalanezh @K_9 ever heard of sarcasm ?

@Admgenalanezh lol! I totally get it! But then being worried about a situation is no solution to it. Esp for someone who is aspiring to be one who probably will later on take these challenges head on.
I personally found the confidence of UPPSC a bit amusing when it released a notification with all dates and stuff, for it hardly ever keeps up with it in the normal times, leave alone Coronatime.

Exam to be held on 31st of May itself.

In spirit of upholding the highest standards of public and selfless service UPSC aspirants set to become the very first volunteers for COVID19 vaccine human trials in India at their respective exam centres. :satisfied:

What if tomorrow we open the UPSC website in hopes of seeing the postponement notice, but end up downloading the admit cards. 😅

The press release clearly states any rescheduling“will be”notified(no dates are mentioned for the same), this “will be” can be tomorrow or it can also be in the 4th week, or it can“will be ho na no” so let’s wait and watch.

and if nothing then we have the vaccine trials to fall back on.

@AspirantAnonymousWhich pdf reader is this? It looks neat for highlighting and marking.

This is the basic photo editor on the iPad. Had taken a screenshot of the notice and then edited it.

Upsc Vs Corona

~LiquorShopsOpenNow

Not just liquor shops but practically everything is open now, except malls, cinema and restaurants. and people have gone crazy, most of the DMs have ordered the rollback esp in UP

Was reading the news and apparently some in those lines to buy liquor were the ones who didn't even have money to buy ration till yesterday and were dependent on the govt.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I guess this whole easing of restrictions is probably govt's way of telling people how serious things can get...maybe they will start to roll back these concessions by the end of this week.

But I  personally feel that this Delhi govt move of imposing 70% tax on MRP is a good step, as long as other states follow suit or else it will just lead to an excess of black marketing.

The cutest part is that how in all the SOP's the responsibility of ensuring all the COVID19 guidelines falls on the students and how the students and guardians are blamed for flouting them all. No where the responsibility is being put on the administration or the exam conducting authority to ensure that the SOPs are followed, and neither there are any clear guidelines which direct them to do the same.

For them the business is as usual, as it was in the pre COVID19 world. There will obviously be crowding when all students are let go at once in a 5ft wide corridor or staircase, there obviously be crowding when guardians flock outside the centers located in narrow alleyways, roads waiting for their wards, there will be crowding when centers who get a handsome amount from these exam authorities divert the money elsewhere instead of using it on bettering their infrastructure, fixing those wobbly benches or leaking toilets. But no, students are to ensure the SOPs and to follow every given instruction because what else can he/she do when the only other option is to not take the exam altogether. This ways no officer or authority can be held responsible and students will be blamed for their own demise, just because they did not follow the so meticulously made, state of the art, made in AC rooms over a hot tea and biscuit SOPs. Which will all be flouted more by the disobedient, rebellious candidates after paper1 as they will be in a rush to get their houses in order for the paper2. We all study so religiously about this thing called accountability in our GS4 paper, and from my little understanding of it, one party is clearly doing everything here to evade it.

To sum this up in a very popular Hindi saying we see in buses/trains "Sawari apne samaan ki khud zimmedar hai", "the passenger is solely responsible for their belongings"

Study hard and study well!

Hoping that the govt and UPSC keeps best interests of everyone in mind and takes the call accordingly.

That being said, without a vaccine conducting any exam will be marred with one issue or the other and several such questions. (The below applies only to govt recruitment exams). The only way to answer them all is either the vaccine or putting everything on hold till one is found.

But if the govt waits till March/April 2021 (an optimistic date) for everyone to get their dosage and then start conducting exams. Most of the Janta from the ones who are asking for postponement right now will get restless and start criticizing the govt for keeping them jobless. Esp the political parties who are at the moment backing students will then play politics over failure to conduct exams. So basically, damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

So at the end of the day it's all about good politics and optics of it.

I would suggest that we all stop speculating and get back to studies as the exam for sure is taking place on 4th oct. for the recruitment agencies are quite bent on sticking with their revised calendars, until unless something very drastic happens. For all we are left with is 45days, you can spend these speculating exam postponements or you can spend these preparing for it. Call is yours.

(Based on a conversation w/ a very highly placed and experienced govt officer)

So last comment on this thread, as I have been seeing a lot many of my fellow brethren wasting their time here putting forth arguments like some polished lawyer of the Hon'ble Supreme Court.

Well here are two cents (try not to get offended)

1. If there is one thing we have learnt about this govt in the past 6years is that it will do what it deems fit to do, irrespective of what the popular opinion is. So, basically no matter how nuanced your opinions and facts are, they really do not mean Jack...sorry for the wordings but that's the truth. You can fool yourself all you want and have a battle of egos but none of it will make a difference to anything in the grand scheme. If exam is to happen it will happen, if it is getting postponed just remember it didn't happen because of some argument of yours.

2. As an aspirant our job is simply to study, if you can do that great. If you cannot due to any reason or circumstances, which I am sure many of you out here must be for valid reasons. Find ways to overcome that, that is what a bureaucrat's life is all about. He is expected to run a sprint, not only run but also win it with both his hands and legs tied. So yes, you may be going through some real adversities right now but you have to fight your way out of it, fight for your dream. Projecting oneself as the victim of circumstances won't help anyone.

So your job is to study now, get to it. Maybe if one day you become a secretary or Cab sec or DG or someone in power, remember and reflect on these days and then with compassion address the problems of then students/general populace. Your time will come to do all these arguments and to actually do something with them.

Till such time, the time right now demands you to study and I would strongly advise to not waste any more time out here bickering and reasoning with each other. Coz whatever has to happen will happen based on the decisions made by those in power. And clearly none of us over here are at any of those positions, had we been, we wouldn't be having this discussion :)

P.s. you want your voice to be heard ? Then this exam is your best bet, the fastest and easiest way to get there. For all other routes although effective require either loads of patience and hardwork, or loads of money.

Be selfish for a while, before you become selfless for the rest of your life.

Hello fraaands...kaadhaa peelo...

This is a P.S.A., coz paid promotion to hum selection ke baad karenge :grin:, that is agar zinda bache toh...

As we all know that prelims are bound to happen in the next 3weeks, coz YOLO and COVID19 ko tata bolo...so in my quest for that perfect mask which will provide both protection and comfort for those 2-3hours of continuous wearing, I experimented with quite a few. and here's the one which I found the most comfortable, perfect fit, and best out of the lot. I wore each one of the masks ranging from a N95 to a 3ply and wrote a 2hour mock with fans off in the currently humid weather of Northern India, along the Indo-gangetic plains, coz why not ? the exam center always has a few surprises up it's sleeve.

Here is the candidate which I found the best for its price, comfort and level of protection.

It's a 3ply mask by this company called Romsons, it's very well made and you can tell the difference by the simple heft it has by holding it in your hands. Has a non woven 3 layer structure, a metallic nose pin which can be perfectly molded to your nose shape and holds the shape throughout its wearing period. But, the best part of it are the earloops! these are made out of non woven fabric and are so soft that practically you won't feel them pulling on your ears. and yes no pain or marks on the ear after taking them off after 3hrs.

These cost anywhere between 6-7rs/piece, I brought these from a local medical store for 6/piece, and 2-3 of these can be used on the exam day, using a new one in each shift. Hope this information helps.

Best wishes!
