These coaching wala has become net liability on upsc aspirants. Who else agree. There end number of tests and claim of so many questions directly from their booklet and test series has not gone down well on upsc.

@Harcourtian In lakshmikant judicial review is talked about only for FR not about the ideals on which constitution is based which basically is basic structure of the constitution which is the invention of SC. Not trying to defend what is wrong but just saying d as answer to this question is very much possible

Guys, I’m someone who always cleared prelims (5), and also mains(5), and 3 time’s recommended by USPC (currently in Service). I’ve never seen so much confusion and disorder after a UPSC prelims, except a couple of questions here and there. I think we should get over this asap. Best wishes!!
Sir , it happens every single year .In 2017 , there was a similar discussion on Right to Vote , DPSP and limitations ,Butterfly one ,Horse of Indus Valley ,Some question on soil salinity and gypsum type, Cabinet form of government and many more .People even approached Supreme Court with prelims' questions (although their petition was rejected ).There was similar chaos in subsequent years (I cant come up with exact questions because I was pretty much offline during those 2 years ).So, this post prelim chaos is nothing new.

And .. Nobody is reputed ... because .. all are more or less same. Good for static but .. No institute cam figure out or teach dynamic syllabus properly. .. and so is the answer key.
Aur .. aaj kal I doubt static knowledge of institutes too.
Sankar made a mark by Environment material though. That book is really great. But , I would say ...There is no permanency in reputation. Teachers change, MANAGEMENT changes.. institute culture changes and so be the reputation changes and falls many a times.
Agreed ....there was a time ( when gs 1 of prelims was less important and people used to qualify pre with csat) when static portion was given a lot of importance because to write good answers you are required to be rock solid with static knowledge.Then ,came 2016 prelims paper .A complete current affairs oriented paper .From there on coachings made a paradigm shift in their approach .Every Tom ,Dick ,Harry scheme of government has become a topic of detailed discussion. Craze of current affairs has reached to a level that in the last couple of months of preparation (before the exam )students read only current affairs and government schemes .Basic books like NCERT ,spectrum and Lakshmikant are not even touched .Coachings having realised this demand and are busy pumping in more and more current affairs.Meanwhile ,focus on developing good static content and updating it with time is ignored .
About that minister waala question, statement 1 takes too simplistic a view of constitutional provisions. The qualifications for being a minister have to be taken within the framework of parliamentary democracy.
A person not qualified to be a MP/MLA cannot be appointed as minister, under any circumstances. However I still see a fallacy against this line of argument- *if a person less than 6months away from his 25th birthday is appointed a minister* but this seems to be a rather extreme exception.a finer analysis of constitutional provisions and it's philosophy is required to discern a trend.
A similar controversy was over whether a person can be made minister for 6 months without being a legislator, and then again be appointed for another 6 months. A simplistic analysis of provisions will find this not explicitly against constitutional provision, however the supreme court has ruled such appointments to be unconstitutional and thus void. Rulings on ordinances also reveal a similar philosophy.
Hence it is prudent to see these provisions from a broader perspective, and try to see the consequences of respective cases. Appointing an 18-24 year old citizen as minister for 6 months ridicules the fundamentals of parliamentary democracy, which requires ministers to be elected from parliament, and be responsible to it. A person who's not qualified to be elected as a member cannot possibly be expected to be responsible/bound by parliamentary principles, and so on the whole, statement 1 appears to be fallacious.

Your argument seems to be logical. But ,the ultimate fact is UPSC itself is not so logical. If we can put this debate of right and wrong answers aside ,then we all can agree on one fact that UPSC at times frames incomplete ,illogical and ambiguous questions and this question (and several other questions like AI type ) is an example of this careless approach of UPSC in framing questions.100 fool proof questions can be framed , but in the end nobody cares for poor aspirants.
