We all theoretically believe that violence is not right, but in reality we all have our compassion zone in which we have few races, few caste, few species who are worthy of our empathy, others our just doomed to the default settings we all bequeath from our ancestors. we humane people in name of practical needs(or sometimes culture and religion) manufacture ,enslave and slaughter animals in factory farms and rationalise it by believing it to be the natural order of existence. wearing someones skin(leather, fur) is not food chain, manufacturing and enslaving them is not food chain..its sheer apathy. this nature of violence is not needed for us to survive..its redundant..its cruel ...also animal factory farming is one of the largest contributors to green house gases emissions .
just a questions ..why is not okay to kill dogs, cats but is okay to kill cows, pigs, goats and others.
@agog i come from a family of non vegetarians both from my mothers and fathers side.. I am not saying that people who consume meat are morally inferior in any way or form..and when did i talk about 100 percent non violence..we all are different shades of grey and exhibit violence in thoughts and sometimes in actions. violence is sometimes necessary for self defence.
my major area of concern is with the systemic violence that has been institutionalised and legitimised against few communities and species..
we dont need to control, enslave, torture and slaughter these animals to live a healthy and enriched life, violence when in defensive is a necessity but when in offensive is wrong. when under attack by a wild animal u will do anything to defend urself(even violence), but when u feed pineapple laden with crackers to the animal that was doing no harm to you..its cruel
now lets talk about plants..well plant are not sentient ,animals are...plants don't have CNS, they dont feel pain joy fear like animals do...animals are conscious, plants are not.. they dont writhe in pain when attacked and killed...having said that i do believe every time we rip a piece of plant away , some damage is done...but in the end its about minimising the suffering..to consciously choose how to be least violent.
and i believe you understand nuances because there is something holding us back from consuming human flesh. the logic trees are alive, humans are alive so if we can eat trees we can also eat humans doesnt work

i turned vegan 8 years ago..so there is nothing much to argue here.
its highly improbable for them to merge 2020 and 2021 examinations...also putting students life at jeopardy for a mere examination would not be wise..i know its a huge deal for us all who have invested so much time and energy for this paper..par doston jaan hai toh jahan hai... i have seen it in close quarters how it impacts people, my cousin contracted it(he has hypertension and diabetes) ..his got fatal, ram bharose thik ho gaye..par abhi bhi pain rehta hai unhe..toh we cant take it lightly.
My Centre is 180Km away. I usually go and stay at a Hotel a day or two before.
Now I'm little afraid to book a Hotel.
I will leave very early in the morning and reach my Centre. Let's hope everything will be alright and goes according to schedule.

Someone here pointed out yesterday how students appearing for IBPS RRB are scared about exam getting postponed again. They want the exam to be conducted.Also concerns on the both side of the spectrum are genuine. Don't dismiss other side as being senseless and apathetic.
not belittling anyone, but for me health is more important than any exam . it seems as if the government is forcing us to choose between life and career. i also understand that many people are not taking it seriously, but as a diabetic, i cant afford to not take it seriously.

None of the state govt. have gone ahead with recruitment exams. If I am not mistaken, UP PCS mains too got postponed. Similar situation with MP PCS and Odisha PCS. So maybe govt has other priorities in mind at the moment for some reason.

Well then Karnataka PSC will be an exception. The prelims is scheduled on 24th August. They are hell bent on conducting prelims on the said date. Released 2 circulars confirming the same. Plus a case in the Karnataka High Court was rejected today. So no hurdles as such for the commission to go ahead with the exams.
karnataka high court seems like is hand in gloves with these people. kcet rejected because they were too late,..comedk rejected because not too many mails by students..and now this... image and reputation of judiciary has nosedived in eyes of many people

I am a non-serious aspirant because I am afraid what if I contract COVID at one of the exam centres where people will come from several districts. I do not have a car where I can sit down peacefully and safely during the two-hour break(last year prelims, in the two-hour break some 40-50 odd aspirants like me were sitting on the ground under the only tree shade we could find in the north Indian scorching heat)I will have to take that infection to my house where my old parents reside with one having diabetes and other high blood pressure. I have a small house, no distancing whatsoever. What if my parents' contract COVID? My family does not have 2-3 lacs to spend on treatment. Whatever little we had, has dried up in this lockdown.

its surprising to see that so many people who are civil service aspirants being totally apathetic to others trials and tribulation..not everyone has the privilege of personal car, or advantage of living in urban city where even during lockdown necessary resources were pretty much at their disposal.

these points are equally applicable for upsc prelims..pandemic has not impacted the privileged few the way it has impacted others..no one wants to stay stuck in this perpetual exam cycle..but these are unprecedented times..once in a century situation..and 2/3 extra months wouldn't help someone who hasn't prepared till now..agar itne mahine kaafi nahi the toh 2 aur mahine kuch nahi kar sakte hai...hum sab serious candidate hai tabhi itna invested hai, its about other issues that we are grappling with(health concern, not having access to transport, we dont have pvt cars..personal rooms to quarantine ...cant afford medical expenses and so on)
There was a case study question few years ago in CSE ethics if anyone remembers...natural calamity and as a DM whom u will save prioritize and give ranks...In an ideal situation one will save everyone at once but in an extraordinary situation we need to prioritize..In extraordinary situation.Its not about making everyone happy and treating everyone similiarly..but its about taking the right decision optimisation of resources...Choices are not given they have to be made in that sitiation..we as a nation have failed to counter the pandemic..but thats the truth..need to accept that and move forward..life cant stop.and as Kejriwalji said.we have to live with corona...

If government do postpone exams then opposition would claim credit for it which obviously government don't want to happen. It will be like bowing down to opposition pressure rather than public one. Government should have postponed the exams earlier so it would have avoided the politicisation of the issue. By looking at the track record of this government, it hardly had paid any heed to public opinion. NDA exams scheduled for 6-7 September are also not postponed.

My friend's grandfather expired today due to Covid-19 complications. The atmosphere around all of us is so gloomy. And the worst part is that there were only 10,000 cases on May 31. Now with 30 Lakh+ cases and a definite rise on October 4th, the prelims are gonna be held. Isse acha hota ki May 31st ko hi hota exams.
we are living at govt's (esp 1 person) whims and fancies..jab mann kiya entire country was brought to a standstill..phir mann kiya toh raato raat demonetisation..ab mann nahi kar raha seriously lene ka toh leave everything..we can later justify it as an act of god..agar yehi karna tha toh why did they stop the entire country and dried many poor and middle class ppl's resources and killed their source of income..kuch bhi chal raha hai is desh mein..their is no scientific basis to anything that they are doing..
