[Results] Prelims 2020 Over - Gearing for 2021

hey guys, someone plz clear my doubt regarding AI Q - Vision IAS key gives examples of "I am AI" and " Daddy's car" songs as examples of AI composed songs, but there's is a catch - Artists has to rearrange words/sentences of composed by AI, as they were not meaningful. So is 'meaningful stories and songs' option right?

here are the links for reference

Also Vajiram key's examples of short shorties: " Sunspring" and " Its not a game" are not meaningful.

I couldn't find any wholly AI composed meaningful stories or songs. So,could B be right option?

@starks On AI Q:
I think coaching institutes overlooked the terms "present state of development", "can effectively do", " meaningful" in preparing the key.
Also, I too think wireless electricity transmission(not wireless charging) is far into the future(only active area of research in present times).
Anyway, sleepyclasses gave 'b' as the right option. I don't know how seriously to take it. I counted it as wrong

Watch this, it is more hilarious("Sunspring" story by Benjamin AI)

@onionsalad @Equalizer @starks I googled query "AI can write meaningful stories and songs"  to check if I can find some article having this line, from where UPSC could have picked it up, but all the search results are articles that are highlighting theineffectiveness of the present state of AI. I think UPSC could have picked it up from one of these news articles. So I think the answer might be option B.

@kartikeybhatt171778  yes there are AI songs, but the issue isAI doesn't generate the whole meaningful song by itself. Artist has to actively intervene, rearrange, and give shape to the incoherently and disjointedly uttered words given by AI. It is given innews article interviewing artist "Taryn Southern"who madefamous songs like "Break free" in the album "I am AI".
Note:Music(just sound) is different from songs(with lyrics)
Also, I think UPSC intentionally made the Q with certain terms("present state", "effectively", "meaningful"), which leads to the elimination of 2,5 statements.

@prachimalik1121311 problem with institutes' keys: No one is justifying 5th statement, In 2nd statement:Vajiramcited example of "Sunspring" story which is not"meaningful" andVision IAScited example of "I am AI"Album which is created with help of AI(not by AI).
My take: All institutes aretaking "all of the above" for granted in Sci & techQs, and are not even bothering to look one step deeper to check what they are citing is right or wrong.

@gauravbrly409 There is no evidence .. no coaching institute provided evidence or justification for this.

@Carpediem The article is talking abt the future, not the present.
following is the expected timeline of AI evolution, given by WEF.

AI in present stage is not very effective in generating creative content. Some articles even say present stage of AI intel is less than that of a bee.
6.2k views
@Carpediem AI can generate meaningful creative content like stories and songs only by 2026 or 2028, not yet.

and the article u provided was talking abt future.

Regarding Rakhmabai Q:I think it was picked from Ishita dube's book, which doesn't not mention much abt right to education, most probably answer is 2&3.

@Fightclub can we callwireless charging(we use today for phones) as wireless transmission of electrical energy? I think this is the main contention. Only UPSC can say... I guess

@MrJ I will clear your doubt man.

Your phone is in your pocket
Your phone user interface/AI or whatever indicates you that charge is low and u need to charge.
Then you go and put your Iphone on Charging pad which works on principle of Magnetic Induction Coil then it charges. It is wireless charging. it the process. AI just intimates.

AI effectively doing wireless transfer of electrical energy means scenario will be like this.

Your phone is in your pocket.
Your phone AI/UI indicates you that low on charge
Your Phone AI will start charging your phone  from electrical energy source in your home in your pocket only from those sources "Wirelessly".
That is wire less transmission of electrical energy By AI
Hope every one understands this.

No no... man, AI can be used during charging phenomenon too... like may be moving coils to optimal location(Xiaomi doing it), or phone recognising and optimally setting its functions to charger conditions etc..

@Equalizer everything was previously possible, neither disease diagnosis nor txt to speech conversion is new, but is  AI used in such phenomenon to improve functioning is the Q...

Is anyone in touch with experienced students who cleared mains last year ..how much do they r getting ...I have seen many friends that due to hesitation they r not admitting ki they r scoring below 90 marks .... I may not b true but aisa lag rha hai ki ek sannata hai sabke Man mein .. suddenly everyone is saying ki exam June mei hi hai waise bhi 2021 Ka so let s see

I gave two interviews in 2018 and 2016. Getting 90 to 95 only. The thing with old timers is avoiding penalties... and that reduced the no of questions attempted.. and most of the senior guys take calculated risk so most of old people in my touch have score in 90 to 105 bracket.

This is the lowest I have ever got in paper 1.

But for me good side is .. I have just one controversial question. Because of lesser attempt I mostly have sure shot questions in hand. only 2 are debatable for me T bill and block chain.

However, I have already deducted 2.67 so .. ultimately I will gain if anything foes right.

What abt AI Q, did u count it as wrong?

No ...

Two statements are out

1. Meaningful story

2. wireless transmission.

By layman's reading without applying hair splitting... both statements are wrong. So chill.

On similar note , Without hair splitting .. Statement 3 of blockchain is wrong.

Thts it.

Ok

@Aspirant123 I have attached screenshot of guardian news article. AI can form stories and articles on its own! A few songs too composed by AI are up there on youtube. So meaningful stories and songs by AI is perfectly correct statement. Dont know about Wireless thing. So according to me has to be all right. Moreover for sure upsc is the final decider but im pretty sure for this AI thing.
Anyways all the best for mains.
P.S. I am scoring 104 by vision and shankar without desher and rakhmabai, so AI doesnt matter. But 100 percent acc to me it will be all correct.
All the best for mains.

In this article, author is talking abt taking the help of AI for reducing time and effort, and not abt AI writing complete meaningful stories.

Its useless. Coz now people are starting to go into deep semantics.

Jahaki reality toh yehi hai ki 90% just laughed off at wireless power transmission and marked it wrong. 😂😂

Daddy's song has human intervention, to correct and properly arrange Ai content ... Not pure AI

Also Ai didn't write lyrics, only musical tones for Daddy's car

I have been a student of her in 2019, i went through her 2019 prelims analysis, of all the coachings saying "liberty is absense of restraint she was a rare proponent of liberty meaning "freedom to develop oneself fully" which was taken by upsc. So if one has to trust someone on polity questions other than obviously upsc, it is shubhra ranjan. So according to her preamble doesnt have any legal effect 'the option A', baaqi to Upsc key is master, anyone can be humbled.

This is misleading, many institutes gave "freedom to develop oneself fully" as answer barring one or two.

And I think, Preamble Q is similar to Liberty Q last year, As simple "absence of restraint" was not the correct answer, simple statement of option A in preamble Q might not be the correct answer this year. We should go formost appropriateanswer and it is perhaps D.

Upsc lift qus from somewhr   There can not be a article which ll say AI is effective for meaningful story and wireless transmission .  It is obvious ans is B . I saw explaination of gs score for all   they have shared a link . When u read that article it says how AI is writting story etc ...  but surprise !! Below it written "april fool " !!  Whn u have 2 search so much to prove something right and that too u find false alert .. its obvious ur ans is wrong .

Exactly... UPSC must have lifted the question from some research/news article or some book. There are many articles with titles "What AI can and can't do", " Where AI fails", "evolution of AI" etc, and many of them discuss the failure of AI "in present state" in generating creative content and expect it to be a thing of future.UPSC must have lifted it from such articles, and they even gave one very weird or outlandish option of "wireless transmission" to aid students in arriving at correct answer. So, most probably answer is "B".

And many people are searching vigorously for AI written meaningful stories, even if it writes some meaningful story, it is very rare and 1 out of a 100 (It is an exception, rather than a norm). Also most news articles and research articles point to "non-sense" content generated by AI, due to "lack of cognition". Thus the general consensus of public is AI is still premature in this arena, and UPSC will most likely go with this.

Did any coaching give option B??

I already addressed the problem with institute keys for this particular Q, they are superficially citing articles by only reading headline to justify option 2, inside the article flaws of AI are highlighted. Moreover no coaching institute properly justified "Wireless transmission". Following are the errors

1. Vajiram cited "Sunspring" story - It is nonsensical.

2. Vision cited songs of "I am AI" album - created by human with help of AI, not AI completely. Infact the artist in interview says AI utterences are gibberish and only cues/inspiration can be taken from it.

3. Mrunal cited "daddy' car" - again made by human with help of AI, His another citation also erroneous(photo below)

4. Also Ias baba cited wrongly.

My point is that for coaching institutes while option 5 is out of bounds, in option 2 they are overlooking(taking it for granted) and citing sources just by superficially seeing headline -->leading to wrong answer key. Hopefully UPSC doesn't do this and I would like to think that the examiner read the article fully before framing question.

@MrJ Bro upar padh lena mera comment

Alright, what you have given me is an author commenting about his own book... obviously there are vested interests and no one verified his claims on not intervening, and no one of us read the chapter to comment on it, While there are many articles out in open opinioning that AI's text is non sense. to prove AI can do something effectively means you should be able to give many examples, but to disprove it, I just need to show few examples, which I did. Moreover, I don't think UPSC framed Q based on Jasprit bhumra chapter. As some have majors in AI, I am attaching an interesting read below, decide for yourselves.

@Admgenalanezh There is no doubting the power of AI but creating  MEANINGFUL Stories  and songs PRESENTLY  and that too EFFECTIVELY is not too convincing. They need human intervention  and editing .

Bro, you are right. But remember that "....xyz" in your google search, as it tries to complete your statements in searches. Bindra Ji may have used weak AI algos, but companies like Google and Amazon have very very powerful engines to do such things. And what is a "story " by the way.

when google corrects us by "did you mean.....", here gentleman it is trying to give meaning to your spellings and sentence. Hope I cleared your doubts. :)

Watch this 7 minute video, u will understand difference b/w completing a line, writing grammatically correct sentences and story writing. Hopefully this clears ur doubts

UPSC-CSAT-2020-SET-C.pdf

vision csat key..almost same for passage..except in 85% they gave 2,4..and in 2 passages multiple options .(but we now know the verbatim ones) :).

the stick question given as 1 foot ...(they showrd also how 0.25 wont be the answer)

If you measure that 1 foot 3 times against the 3.25 foot stick, you will be left with 0.25 foot

@Aurang_mirasudar Bhai.. sry, that wasn't my intent, I just wanted to say the answer is .25

@Percival bro,ur article itself says a non-member can be made CM under 164 , if he has qualIfications to be member of legislature uder art 173. Implies age more than 25. It is D

5.6k views
@MrJ bhai yeh age wala ridiculous argument mat quote karna. Member of Legislature banne ke liye Voter hona zaroori hain (Art 173). Does that mean People between 18-25 can become MLAs?!
And read the article fully. You have only read the first case. Neeche Constitution bench has told to become Minister (Art 164), person should qualify conditions for Art 173 (voter). Or see the screenshot I posted along with article. Anyway I'm convinced answer is A. Your wish to believe otherwise.

Read the 2nd point

6.2k views
@Percival1st statement of the Q is not right criteria, there is no such verbatim anywhere.
P.S: I also marked A by overlook, but i realize it is wrong now.

6.2k views
@MrJ phir wahi age ki baat? Kithni baar samjhana hain, there is a condition of both Age (2nd point of Article 173) and Voter (3rd point of Article 173  which is parliamentary qualifications under RPA, 1951). In fact, there was a previous year UPSC question asked in 2017 on the same context. Try to attempt it by applying the ridiculous age criteria.
Last word: If you're a voter, you need not directly be eligible to become a MP/MLA. But to become MP/MLA, you have to be a voter.

I don't know what UPSC has in mind, but if it is used in a broader sense of eligibility criteria, then A can be answer and I will get 2.67 more

@MrJ maine aisa kahan bola ki PhD from IIT is bad but I don't think at bachelor level AI - wireless transmission ka project hota hoga India me. Haan Masters ya PHD me hoga . No offense to that guy

Unka phd research area hi hai wireless transmission... not graduate level

@Equalizer AI brings down electrical consumption in industrial  units  So can u say AI effectively  transfers electrical energy.
Smartphones/Internet of Things  se u can turn off geyser refrigerator but can u say Internet of things effectively  heats water or cools water.
In cyber physical  systems, cyber helps in improving  efficiency  of physical systems. It doesn't replace  it.
If Question  said, AI helps in regulating  or increasing  efficiency  of wireless power transmission  I might have considered it but saying that AI itself does wireless transmission  of power is not appropriate.

IoT wireless is different, it works by wirelesscommunication, not wireless transfer of electricity.
