Hi guys
In this covid world, all of us are sailing in the same boat, facing the same apprehensions, same issues, same anxieties and with the same goal....upsc!!
I want to share my experience with you all.i am a frontline covid warrior in this duty from past five months..we are literally working day and night.
I am incharge of an area and our team is entirely responsible for testing in the area, sealing the containment area, ensuring essentials supply in the area, sanitisation, waste collection monitoring in the area, sensiting the public there regarding social distancing, ensuring that people don't jump barricades, shifting positive patients to hospitals, monitoring home isolation patients, answering indefinite public calls and a hell lot of other covid works along with our regular official duties..
...it has been really a lot of tasks.... add on to this,.there are meetings at ward level, booth level, assembly constituency level, parliamentary constituency level, along with meetings of DM,district in charge minister, chief secretary, chief minister, health minister, covid minister, our own departmental meetings, with hundreds of video/WebEx/Google meet/zoom meetings...!!
Since we are in the frontline during such covid times,we are not able to get any time to study....
I feel sorry about our state ,but also proud that we are of some help to the people in dire needs...
But,at the end of the day, feel like I am unable to study much for prelims, conducting exam during such times would be really injustice to ppl working for corona relief during such times.
Friends, many of my colleagues are positive, there have been deaths in our offices ,and being in the midst of such scenes,I can rest assure you,it's not as easy as it looks...doctors wearing ppe kits are contracting it.especially post lockdown, normal healthy people are suddenly contracting it out of nowhere and going for ventilators ....believe me,we used to get 2cases in entire city per day in May...now it's 10 cases per ward daily... We have limited staff strength....due to no leaves or Saturday or Sunday and continuously working since five months, all of us are reaching our saturation levels...
So,a more prudent way for upsc would be giving an extra attempt for this year exam applied people and also postponing prelims till things come under Ctrl....I,being in one of the most developed states of India(we had effectively controlled during lockdown and till June)and in one of the most advanced and literate city can assure you that even beds are not available for asymptomatic patients....leave alone icu, ventilators....Pvt hospitals are charging like crazy(1lakh per day sometimes), in such scenario things are going out of hand at many places.
So guys, please please take care of yourself and your family....nobody has understood this virus...some say it's airborne...some say no...some cases ppl r hvng lung issues...some are having sudden heartattacks.,some evn showing liver problems,dysentry....vaccine not in next month atleast....
So life is very short ....make it memorable....study vn u ought to .spend tym with family....live life to the fullest.. nobody knows what will happen tomorrow...
Goodluck
@Albatroos1989 ,it's not about postponing boss. I am having few more attempts and years on my side...
But we should also be empathetic to those corona warriors who are in their last attempt.what about them..so it's better if they give an extra attempt to them.
Many of cse aspirants are corona warriors, few are infected, few are recovering, and since this is not a one stage exam, but a year long one, getting infected/susceptible to infection really matters...!
In this scenario,I think it would be more prudent to ask for an extra attempt,so that those who are in corona warfront, infected can skip this year, and would not lose anything.
Hi guys....sorry to disturb your flow...my friend who was preparing well for exam has turned positive, and this is his last attempt...he is a doctor and from past six months he was struggling day and night treating the patients and even counseling them.
He missed final list last year by a whisker.... although he didn't get much time to prepare this time but still prepared somehow..
So, now would he be able to write exams....he has high fever, cold, throat ache...
In the light of today's judgement, can someone enlighten please
On a side note, I am really saddened at the state of affairs...we,covid warriors are working day and night saving people's lives....but when we fall ill, we are even denied the basic right of appearing for the exam.this is a pandemic, not a normal scenario....such unimaginable circumstances ,there should be some margin, consideration....I wonder what is stopping upsc from giving one additional attempt to those who are unable to write/prepare well this time...
For csat, two attempts two years age relaxation ,but now in a pandemic, nobody cares.....!!!!
What basic right are you talking about?? Right to infect people??
It's a pandemic, i have lost 3 of my relatives to Covid, I don't want to get infected at any cost!! You are saying nobody cares??? Well they care that's why they said that Covid patients won't be allowed.
And think rationally it's for the benefit of all..
Sir,with due courtesy.....I ,being a medical professional myself know that it's infectious...I have seen people suffer , I have even saved few....!!
fine, let covid positive people not write it this year...then how about people like my friend who have their last attempt??
And, speaking in such a low manner about an aspirant and an infected person doesn't suit a future officer.
And one more word.,there have been instances in places like karnataka, where evn covid positive patients were isolated to write exam...
My friend had a genuine doubt whether he can write and if u kno the answer please tell.
@Warrior100 even if i get infected tommorow and won't be allowed to write the exam, i would still stand by my words! Even if i prepare all year for this exam, even if it is my last opportunity to make a career in civil services, i have no right to risk someone else's life. Being a professional you must know that even if I would be allowed to sit in a separate hall with other covid patients, then also many people including invigilator would be at risk..And calling a patient by the term patient can not be called low mannered..And for your friend, i have full sympathy for him, and i would pray that he gets healthy in next 2 days!! But that's all i can do..Letting a covid patient write the exam can not be the solution.period!
Sir, thanks for your sympathies...goodluck for exams...

Hi all,
After being in the game for few years, having qualified prelims 3 tyms, mains twice, attended interview once, I can tell you this is just another exam...the unpredictable nature of exam is increasing year after year and it's better not to give precious years of your youth to one exam, leaving your job,studies...."one single exam cannot make or break you".....in these uncertain covid times, maintain calm, study with a backup....this is not the end of the world....
We have all seen many who are clearing exams in first attempt and some at the age of 32! (I have seen this civil services world from too close....my brother is an IAS officer. I have met many officers with him...meeting many would leave u guessing how such dumb people who are only after false prestige , money clear!....many live in a false bubble, cutoff from realities of life, would leave you introspecting,is it really worth giving years and years of life preparing for it..)Everyone have a different time zone...we are different...finally the almighty would bestow us with what suits us the best!
Forget all this....if you are getting 90+ prepare for mains,if not give yourself a break.... recalibrate your future planning....this is not worth giving years and years of your life....
Finally the world is too big my friend.... opportunities are too vast!
