had that been the case then universities +jee +neet would not have announced their dates....everyone is realising that we have to live with it...also 70 % of cases are asymptomatic( 70% chances that we are also affected) that doesn't mean that everyone will isolate themselves.... show must go on.
It is not about losing a few bucks here and there. It is about lives. Gatherings like these could risk lives of thousands of individuals. Imagine people flocking to exam centres in Mumbai, Ahmedabad in July or August. Even if the rate of spread may decrease by then, such gathering could cause future waves in hotspot regions. Aur bhai show nhi hai life hai. Band kamare mein upsc ki taiyari ke sage bhi duniiya hai.
A July date, most probably in 2nd half. All states are following a unique trajectory and will peak accordingly. Key cities like Mumbai Ahmedabad are under severe stress and in Bengal I don't think even the tip of the virus spread has been exposed. We can hope for normalcy by sometime around 2nd half of June, optimistically. Rural areas have been well guarded till now but prelims will require a number of candidates from rural areas to travel to urban centres (cue- Mumbai Ahmedabad etc for which there are no alternatives as of now) now unless such epicentres are totally secured, no authority can risk spreading the virus to rural areas by conducting Prelims ( unless they decide to put candidates in mandatory quarantine for a fortnight 😜, goodluck with that).
So July should be the earliest we can hope for, in my opinion
July end/ August start is very much feasible if the infection spread is slowed down significantly. Otherwise what we will see is future extension and newer dates. No govt would take risk of organizing such huge exams in middle of pandemic. They are not even offering (huge chunks of) laborers train-ride back home. I highly doubt they will allow exams of such scale to be conducted where so many rural juntas come to cities to write exams.
So it all depends if the govt will be able to manage the spread and not just the rate of spread. Cuz Covid is real, hospital beds already filling up in Mumbai is real and sufferings that corona brings are real.
bhai mera to ye vichar h ki... jo corona ka hype tha wo khtm ho chuka h...…..govts ne josh josh me full lockdown kar to diya but ab jab logo ka patience khtm hone laga h to khud se hi open karne ka dikhawa kar rhe h...…..sabko smjh aa rha h....ki bimari jiska R-no. 1.25 h...and mortality b bahut low h..even common cold se kam.….iske liye itna sab drama karne ki jarurat nahi thi…….isiliye ab jab maximum cases aa rhe h to b govt lockdown khol rhi h dheere dheere…..trains b start ho rhi h....university exams ki dates b aa rhi h june me...….to upsc b kyo nahi karwayegi exam?? …..ha jo log services me h.....and jo is lockdown k liye ki wajah se disturb hue h....unke liye upsc jaurur sochega aur unhe thoda sa time dega….. 2 months ke around....to most probable exam aug k start me hona chahiye……...baaki jo log corona ka hype bana rhe h...bhai logo fuss ho chuka h corona ka gubbara……aankhe Kholo.....
Has to be the most ignorant comment on this thread. Read your words again in July and you will know how wrong you are. And also if time permits open up newspaper or google hospital situation in Mumbai. It's not hype. i can't believe people are still so much ignorant for their selfish reason so they can write one exam. Jisme 6 attempt mein bhi 99 % ka nhi hota . Better care for life than sarkari chakari. #justsaying

21st June--seems too early as trains too won't be available fully even in June.
28th-Date reserved for Engineering Services Mains
5th and 12th July-CBSE to conduct exams from July 1-15 They have already mentioned that schedule will be packed and they may even take exams on Saturdays and Sundays.
19th-a bit difficult but difficult to rule out totally.Jee Mains to be conducted in schools across 250+ districts from 18th-23rd
26th-NEET exam
Conducting simultaneous exams would mean trouble for administration and limited availability of school centres which means difficulty in maintaining social distancing.
So most likely it might be 2nd August.
Why it may not delay more?Govt response seems like it might take risk and delegate the responsibility on the people to maintain social distancing and safety (although it would be very difficult keeping in mind the population density).
We have to wait for CBSE n JEE to see if there r any major repercussions(Govt is confident that it will ensure social distancing.Lets time be the decider whether it will be a success or not)
The successful conduct of these exams might guide UPSC unless it takes altogether different approach and says no I want to conduct it in July itself.All the best to UPSC then.
As a student we have to be prepared for exams even if it happens in July.So prepare well everyone.Prelims is Coming.
All trains cancelled till 30th June so many exams like up pcs prelims which was to be held on 21st June would cancel. Even more will get cancelled. Only if govt is hell bent in destroying all the efforts done till now, will they conduct exams that involve such mass gatherings.
@olympusbhai , I am not being ignorant , rather being too conscious about people who are dying of hunger and road ,rail accidents...what I was saying that fear of covid was spread at a over-inflated level.....now what the experts are saying ??? boost your immunity...…… and when everyone is expressing their thoughts...I too expressed ...isme aap itna serious kyo ho rhe ho...kaunsa modiji mera comment dekh kar exam jaldi karwa denge….and main to aug ka bola h yaar..tab tak kaafi time h...jis Tarah se last 3-4 din me govt. open kar rhi h...…..to kya govt b ignorant h....??? maine to jo feel kiya wo bola.....isme selfish... sarkari chakri aise harsh words kyo laa rhe ho bhai...…………..and july tak kya wait karna h....20 may tak upsc hi bata dega….kitna delay hoga exam...….
if we open too soon, there will be casualties and we will have to close down again. Rest it will be govt's call. i just don't want to risk several lives by going to crowded places till situation becomes normal.

by all accounts mortality rate is atleast 2-3 percent with at least 10 percent people needing hospitalization. Do u know what is the population of our country? and how many will die because of "low" mortality rate. And once it spreads, there is no going back.
And about R0 , you are casually comparing with flu. it's not. how many people you infect when you have the flu. This corona things is getting transferred even by vegetables vendors. Certainly the number is very high.
And finally , if you do not wanna believe , nobody can do anything. But let's hope nobody has to suffer with such deadly disease when health infra of our country is so pathetic.
