Prelims Preparatory Classes

will this program be available in online mode? since i am preparing from outside delhi and don't want to shift to delhi before prelims exam, is there any coaching that is offering static portion revision in online mode specifically for prelims in fast track mode.

P.S. Shubhra is also starting prelims course but that is only offline. If anyone knows if forum or any other coaching will offer in online mode to pls tell

If you want to join the classes for revision purpose then Vision’s fast track batch is nice.
I took it last year and some faculty members there are very good at teaching (like Aditya Sir for Economics).
I still have access to last year’s classes on my portal as well.
The only concern was that during my time the classes got extended by a huge margin (started in mid December and went on till April).

@Aakash1238114972 what about the other faculties? Would appreciate if you could tell about environment, history etc.
Visions seems to be the costliest among the lot therefore the apprehension.

There is Prelims Preparatory Program from IASBaba as well. It is also not cheap. What do you guys suggest?

@thistooshallpassI am also considering iasbaba but haven't heard great things about their test series therefore a little confused. Though it is definitely cheaper than vision!

@RaillifeRegarding SFG, it has core static syllabus . Pros will be you would be thorough with complete static syllabus of GS (standard books) . How ever one need to check its ROE . Eg: Polity : do u think UPSC ask direct questions or applied based . Yes it may work for geo and History ,but do u get enough for polity /eco etc.

I am not sure if this year the faculties will be same as last year but in 2018 batch the faculty for environment and S&T was the same person. He is a practising lawyer and he has a very unique way of teaching. That Sir used to travel a lot to various sanctuaries and national parks and click pictures and then show it in class which helped in better understanding and retention. He also used to open and show various websites for reports and other information.
The Polity Sir was also one senior and experienced guy. He used to explain things in a crisp manner. He used to clear doubts instantly. He is also a wise man and I got a taste of his wisdom in his first class itself when he said not to aim and settle just for IAS but Cabinet Secretary.

Aditya Kalia used to teach Economics. He is one of the most intellectual persons I have come across so far face to face. Not only he helped our batch in just economics but in other subjects as well. Feedback and inputs for mains and interview were also given by him.

I would say that History Sir(same faculty for ancient, medival and modern) for me was average. He was good in knowledge but I found his way of teaching less interesting. The reason can be my less likeness for history subject.

I did not attend Geography classes as it was April 2019 when the subject class started and I had to cover other subjects too so I cannot comment on Geography.

And yes Vision IAS is costly but the service they offer to you in of paramount quality. I guess the test series are also included in this package as well as online access for their PT 365 course. I recently saw of the vision’s latest test paper of a Polity and I must say that their quality this year has improved as compared to last year.
They also provide you a good amount of material when you enrol for their fast track programme. And another best thing is that after every class they make you solve 10 or 20 questions daily followed by discussion and doubt clearance.
All I would suggest is before joining just do ask them for the course timetable or the exact duration in which the course will get over just to make sure that you don’t get into the Rush-Hour game a month before prelims 2020.
Also there is another institute named Eden IAS which is in Karol Bagh. They are also starting such kind of prog for prelims in jan for 60 days. I have enrolled this institute for daily mains answer writing practice and my experience with this institute has been very positive. The fee for the prog is ₹15000 plus gst but the course is available only in offline mode. I have asked them to add online option as well but they have not confirmed. You can consider this institute as an option as well if you want to. Try going to their website and have a look at the brochure specially the time table. If you are not able to find it, I’ll share it with you via email or some other route. Just let me know?

@Aakash1238114972 Thanks a lot for such a detailed answer. It is very helpful.

Yes, they have test series and PT365 which of course are brands in themselves. I will speak to them and see what they have to say wrt course duration. Also, did they cancel a lot of classes? the current program has only 60 classes which can be completed even if Sat/Sunday are treated as off by March. Did you have approx similar number of lectures?

Since I am not preparing from Delhi Eden IAS won't work for me (unless they start online programme).

Again, thank you for providing the requisite details.

@Joeyisthebest
You’re welcome and in 2018 batch, hardly any class got cancelled. We used to have 4 hours of class every single day but still the course got extended till April.
And about Eden IAS what best you can do is that you can write to them a mail requesting to make the prelims course online as well. Even I have asked them to do so as even I’m too preparing from NCR.
