@sjerngal it is correct answer should be c

4.3k views
@DHARNA yes, but the answer given by forum does not focus on that point, it does not mention time period as the reason for it being incorrect.

4.3k views
@UK01 I feel the error is in the timeline, given 19th century but it should be 18th century, nonetheless forum's answer given does not focus on the time line, hence I feel there is some mistake in framing the question here.

I have few doubts in today's sfg test:

1. CBI does come under RTI, it is mentioned in their website itself, also HC ruling same.

2. Diwani rights wala question.

3. Treaty of Amritsar. Treaty of Lahore was signed after 1 Anglo sikh war and to finalize the terms, treaty of Amritsar was signed to conclude the first war.

Can someone help me in these...??

@chikuiasbano oh ok, I answered based on the recent decision by CIC, https://www.theweek.in/wire-updates/national/2019/05/08/del20-cic-cbi.html
Might have been a tussle between CBI an CIC....taking CBI as exempt is only more logical ...thanks buddy 😊

Congress not supporting her led bessant to start her league without their permission.

Kindly someone clarify.

Q 13, I don't think women were included in communal award, can anyone confirm it ??
7.4k views
@PixkaSaA oh ok in the old copy women is not mentioned...and act of 1935 gave that to women and labour so I eliminated that...thanks buddy...

Q36: it was ratings of Bombay who started RIN mutiny, later karachi and others joined, I don't think from start karachi HMS was involved. It started in Bombay and moved to Karachi. Although it is a PYQ, I still feel second statement is not correct.

Q14: weren't the tenants called as bhagadars during tebhaga and the jotedars also owned land apart from zamindars, so grouping all landowners as zamindars might not be correct.

@UK01 upsc often takes its own subjective interpretation of historical events and constitutional values, no doubt quit India movement was violent, not only in princely states but also in provinces, especially bengal, nwfp and bihar and Assam. But it was leaderless movement is also right. Spending too much time and loosing sleep over such questions is no use, every pre paper has such 2-3 questions.

Q8, although the sepoys shared all the grievances of the masses, I still don't think abolishing sati was a reason for their discontent as the masses themselves were divided on it, majority were in support while few ruling class and rich peasants, zamindars were opposed.

Q38, can someone confirm the "mutiny of sepoys" is same as " sepoy mutiny".

@sjerngal agree to it ...I also have same reservations in that question.

@UK01 yes right... rotation drives wind movement and direction which drives ocean currents and ocean currents are known to redistribute salinity among oceans.
However I feel, forum by mentioning "various seas and oceans" and not mentioning distribution or "between oceans" is talking of isolated water bodies, like a single ocean or a sea, still I feel rotation plays a part as even if we neglect the coriollis part, still evaporation is dependent on rotation about the tilted axis.

@PixkaSaA yes, incised meandering I guess.....this is from class 7 ncert....

3.5k views
@ForumIAS-Academy but direct relationship has not been asked only the factors affecting has been asked, rotation has effect on evaporation and evaporation has affect on salinity, if evaporation is affecting salinity then rotation which regulates evaporation doesn't affect salinity doesn't fit. How will convection current take place if there is no rotation and no day and night ??

Any one has updated schedule for SFG 2 tests??, the excel file I have does not have schedule from 26 April....kindly help if anyone has it....

@UK01 thanks buddy....🤩

@sjerngal yes, fronts are formed at lower atmospheric level that is below atmospheric boundary layer and jet streams higher close to the boundary layer or even sometimes above it. The reason for both is same, that is contrasting temperature difference between air masses that meet.

In Q8, I feel statement d is not correctly put, like mentioned in solution itself, winds blow from southwest to northeast, mentioning only northeast in option statement makes it wrong, as even in normal sign convention, wind direction is stated from the origin side and not destination.
3.8k views
@sjerngal yes it happens with me too, talking out of experience, upsc prelims paper is very different from what coaching institutes set their papers 😝, just try to improve in whichever test series you are giving. Assuming you are talking about the vision Abhyaas series. I have seen people scoring 12-50 marks in tests and clearing pre. No test series can match upsc's thought process.😝😂

@PixkaSaA yupp that must be the reason, but then again, if you take it that way, then it entirely comes on to the frame of reference that you are taking to define the wind, that is why international standards have been made. It would've have been better if even in question, like in solution, southwest to northeast had been mentioned.

@UK01 No, all india services is a broad category, it includes even armed forces officers, officers of PSU, PSB bank officers etc. Karmayogi is specifically for civil servants.

4.2k views
@UK01 Yes I get that, constitutionally there are 3 only but while performing role as executive govt time and again makes several posts as all india cadre service for better administration,(one of the flaws of Indian federalism). Still even if we ignore that, the official pdf by dopt on mission, does not mention "all india services" it is specifically restricted to civil servants, same is conveyed by PIB. I'm not able to upload the pdf, but you can refer it online.

@s918973 option b is verbatim mentioned in the official document, so that itself will be correct. Option c capacity building is correct but all india services is not given in document, it is our understanding that we took civil servants also as all india services (there are also IRS,IFS,etc within civil servants but not in the list of all india services).

I think there is a contradiction between Q1 and Q29 in today's test. Can anyone confirm??
3.5k views
@UK01 in Q1 it states they can be cultivated with a license from warden, but in Q29 it states schedule vi plants can't be cultivated, extracted etc.
Even in Q6 it was not clear if techniques were asked for 2018 tiger census or 2014 census as 2014 census used DNA fingerprinting but nothing as such is mentioned for 2018 census.

3.5k views
@UK01 nope it's mentioned schedule 6 in Q29 statement 3, and schedule 5 has different role, it is about vermins not plants.

Can anyone confirm in Q48, district planning committee were specifically setup under 74th act and not 73rd. ???
@sjerngal no, non lapsable means it does not expire even after the end of current fiscal year it goes on till a law or order of the executive says so.

@s918973 yes that is under 74th ammendment act not 73rd.

https://www.india.gov.in/my-government/constitution-india/amendments/constitution-india-seventy-fourth-amendment-act-199274th ammendment act

@sjerngal yes and even in finance act 2020, on equalization levy, it mentions non resident e comm players "having significant presence in India" not all. For example Alibaba is not under equalization levy.

@forumiasacademy @Jack__Sparrow @Neyawn .....if in case the pre gets postponed will forum ias extend sfg too ??... kindly do consider it incase it happens so that we don't loose touch of solving questions.....

The soil health card question, can anyone tell whether it is revised at intervals of 2 years or 3 years, as the source given by forum ias states 3 years but answer says 2 years.
5.5k views
@Rashmirathi right that's what's confusing me as the source given by forum ias states 3 years. It should be 2 years.
