Consider the following statements, with reference to the election and impeachment of the President:

1. During election of the President only elected members of the Parliament take part whereas during impeachment both the elected and nominated members of Parliament take part.

2. The sum of the value of votes of all MLAs is equal to the sum of value of votes of all MPs.

3. The process of impeachment is a purely executive process done by the legislators.

Which of the statements given above is/are correct?

 2 only
 2 and 3 only
 1 and 3 only
 1, 2 and 3

If I read part1 and part 2 of statement 1 it appears correct in general sense. Shouldn’t it be wrong when the word ‘only’ is placed after ‘parliament’ instead of before ‘elected’?

Same Doubt, reading it S1 as a general statement one can forget to read 3rd statement. and mark"D"

Q.12) Consider the following statements:
1. For removal of members of SPSC (State Public service commissions), the Governor has to refer the matter to High court for an enquiry.
2. For removal of members UPSC (Union Public service commissions), the President has to refer the matter to Supreme Court for an enquiry.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
a) 1 only
b) 2 only
c) Both 1 and 2
d) Neither 1 nor 2
Ans) b

Issue with the question:
President has to refer the matter to SC only in certain cases. In majority cases of removal, he doesn't have to refer the matter to SC.

"For removal of members UPSC (Union Public service commissions), the Presidenthasto refer the matter to Supreme Court for an enquiry." - statement would be false.

I second that. It is a partial statement.

Comparing S1 and S2 we have to decide both considering a general statement.

If we will go at very depth of the statement then we know correct requirement will suffice only by a full paragraph on removal having  5+ conditions along with SC judge  Enquiry. UPSC always have such statement which it want to answer them considering general one only.

Hello sir@Neyawn

If possible, please transfer a student in RLG batch on the basis of average marks obtained in all the CSAT tests and not just one test.
It demotivates us if we work hard for 5 GS tests and scores good and just because we couldn't do well in CSAT test and that too because of just 1 question we couldn't clear cut off of CSAT. Also sir, it it very difficult to read long passages and pie charts on the computer screen and mobile screens.
I have scored 38.33 in today test and 50.66 in RC test.
Its a humble request sir to please consider this suggestion.
I am not giving any excuses sir, but just sharing the problems being faced while attempting questions.
Thanks.

@forumiasacademy @Neyawn Sir

Even after zooming 150% the screen one can't be sure about the % Digit written in the question. (For ether it's 16 or 18). Probably this type of problems will be faced by everyone in dealing with data interpretation questions in 1or 2 paragraphs.

How can be sure about % in Radar based question in such a merged lines. Those are not even on accurate % Point. Please consider these queries.

IGNOU material is available on their app but in my opinion, "now" is not the time to go for new material.

Just for taking insights only.

Inn the question it is mentioned that the movement was ONLY confined to the upper and middle classes and zamindars. But it was not confined only to them. Students participated in large numbers. Women also took part. Labour also participated.

The answer says it was LARGELY confined to the upper and middle class and zamindars.
There is a difference between being called only confined and largely confined. Hence Statement B is wrong but Statement B has been marked as correct.

Answer must be "B" .

S2 is incorrect.

Moderates movement confined to only Upper class and that too before 1905.

After 1905 Extremists acquired dominant influence over Swadeshi movement.

How do we conclude that there are 6 steps in total?

Considering no one at step 1.

and sequence of steps: p>q and s>R (these are all together 4 steps)

Then P & R must be odd i.e after 1st step odd steps are 3 & 5 (which is P&R) and S>R Means 6>5 so there is 6 steps altogether.

Quiet complex one and time consuming passage.

Q36: it was ratings of Bombay who started RIN mutiny, later karachi and others joined, I don't think from start karachi HMS was involved. It started in Bombay and moved to Karachi. Although it is a PYQ, I still feel second statement is not correct.

Q14: weren't the tenants called as bhagadars during tebhaga and the jotedars also owned land apart from zamindars, so grouping all landowners as zamindars might not be correct.

Agreed on Q 14. That's a simple difference ofTebhagawith other agrarian movement in terms of terminology.

Which one of the following observations is not true about the Quit India Movement of 1942?

a

It was a non-violent movement

b

It was led by Mahatma Gandhi

c

It was a spontaneous movement

d

It did not attract the labour class in general

3.3k views

@UK01 but we know that Quit India movement was a violent movement , right?
It was a leaderless movement as all major leaders were arrested, but the call was given by Gandhi Ji.

This is getting confusing now.

Main point - It is leaderless. explicitly mentioned in every book.

Violence happened in different parts of india that was the reason of fast by Gandhiji against exhortation by govt to condemn violence. (Being non violent we can phase out from here;its violence of the state).

@Deltakin how can i improve my score in comprehension?

Even RC have different inference taken by different point of view. In Today's paper also 10-12 questions are doubtful and proper explanation haven't given to justify those answer so that one can reach on correct conclusion. There are always 2 options which are a way closer.

UPSC CSAT papers have proper keywords for RC questions i.e.  Logical Inference , assumption, most rational and practical implications, logical and crucial message, conclusion etc.

Today's paper is somewhat not on those lines, it's more inclined towards CAT or GMAT RCs.

Still If Someone can give insights on handling these comprehension that will be way helpful. People scoring in range of 70-100, if possible please suggest how one can improve.

@sjerngal thnks.

Its ok u can tell me abt othrs leaving geo.

@UK01 we r waiting for ur ans

@C_2020_F3 I had revised all basic books aprx 5+ times and still again when I am revising I always find something still need to be update or I had missed in my earlier revision. I am ltl bit consistent but still lack in couple of tests, that must be due to silly mistakes or not reading questions properly (correct or incorrect asked).

For SFGs my plan is atleast revise two times before the test. Use comparative study for mostly topics. Attempt PYQ of UPSC then do reverse revision.

Deep inside after 1 reading we all know which part we need to focus more try to reconcile (don't skip) that one in next revision before Test.

This pandemic situation is  hitting and distracting everyone. Even I am also not feeling well since last two days but still we need to excel this hard time.

Q 30 Answer must be B & C(option C- Capacity building of AIS officers is also a part), Even mainly it focuses upon capacity building. It is The National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building ('NPCSCB')

The recently approved 'Mission Karmyayogi' aims at:

a

Providing free guidance to financially weak Civil service aspirants.

b

Prepare the Indian Civil Servant for the future needs.

c

Capacity building of All India Services officers.

d

An initiative of UP government for providing coaching to aspirants.

@Sidd205027  please have a look upon this. As per AIS till now only 3 services are there. (Same is my doubt also)

Mission Karmayogi"-  NationalProgramme.for Civil Services Capacity Building.   (NPCSCB)
