Awareness about Alwar to lot of people.. esp hearing Rajasthan many would assuming it’s hot. So chances of a good cohort reduces . The program would be based on the peers too.. the better the batch the better motivation of the group..
why the increase in batch strength.. from 100 last yr to 300… to accommodate more people was the reason for shifting to Alwar? And no clarity about the place in the website... many would assume it’s like last year at Gurugram..

And ambiguity about … what happens if students from frc 5 qualify prelims.. what about the mains preparation?

1. The place is located just at the outskirt of Haryana and is a green campus. with grass and natural vegetation.

2. We have had some observations with respect to reasons why some students got through and some did not. We will be perfecting these in coming days.

3. There are few reasons for shift to Alwar. There were some posts that shared that monthly food + stay costs should be in range of 18k -20k. Or as low as possible. It was getting impossible to arrange that kind of stay in city limits at that cost. Landlords kept increasing room rents when they saw students coming. This could sometimes be passed on to students sometimes the loss was borne by Forum.

4. Govt regulations with respect to organised hostels requires safety norms which require huge buildings which is not available in city limits. The only ones that are legally permissible are the one that meet CBSE guidelines ( wrt to corridor width, open space ) This will require kind of DU / IIT type hostel infra. Not possible in city limits. Most service providers quoted 30-35K for rooms, meeting guidelines. Even they had some concerns. They were far off in Uttarakhand or UP.

5. We checked the temperature range and visited multiple times. It is located close to Haryana - in fact the first market / sub division in Rajasthan and is part of extended NCR. And not in Thar desert / west Rajasthan where it is hot. It has the same temperature as Delhi-Gurugram. Additionally because it has open areas so due to better air circulation in peak summers also it is not as hot as Gurugram and it cools down at night and early mornings.

6. An important factor was the massive problem of air pollution which led to poor health of lot of students - at least 1/3 rd people were affected by it. Some students had to simply leave because of the issue. The place is outside the air pollution zone. You can see the stars at night.

7. Mental and physical health concerns were also at the back of the mind. The campus has adequate walking tracks ( without fear of being hit by a vehicle ) of about 3kms at least.

8. We had a choice of moving Northward or Southward from Delhi. Northward there were concerns wrt to predictability of law and order and safety concerns in UP. We spoke to our students in IPS with respect to safety especially of women candidates and we got a common view that rajasthan provided the ecosystem and safety that is needed for people from outside the state to come and live.

9. We will try to accomodate more people based on quality of students. The number of students has to be such that the place is vibrant and a sense of competition is there. We feel we will not select more than 120 students for CSE 2025 as of now. Out of this 125 half the seats are already full. Remaining 50% - 25% are likely to be filled by old students referrals + performance in entrance test and rest 25% from entrance test without referral.

We may run advertisements in some states so that the all India character of FRC is preserved - which brings diversity and necessary peer learning ( so when mail + ad goes for FRC the entrance test fee will increase to around 1K ). We even got 2 students from NE out of which 1 dropped out and the other who stayed cleared the exam.

10. Lastly the place is within commutable distance for the faculty - it takes not more than 1.5 hours from our office to reach the new FRC campus. This is also the time it takes to reach from SV center to KB Center these days. So some faculty will stay there while some will commute.

We will be holding a webinar to clear all these doubts. However we are likely to keep it low-key as we do not have many seats left as of now. We are looking for students from NE and Southern India for diversity aspect.

@SbhOP6  yes I have submitted the fee and joining. Regarding the place of residence in Alwar, I feel as long as academics are sorted hostels don't matter much. Also, Forum will provide decent enough hostels, thats my personal belief.

@Neyawn This year was my first prepared attempt. I was scoring between 87.xx to 96.xx in GS, was preparing with job - although the last 2 months before prelims job was non-existent. I also panicked quite a bit in the last 30 to 45 days, probably because I hadn't done ratta-fication earlier on. Previously, I had given prelims without preparation in 2023 just filling IFoS, and scored 47.xx in GS.

My Mains (GS+ Optional) notes are not ready and optional is Anthropology, which I am not very confident right now but I am giving it time daily. I am on track to finish the syllabus once comprehensively around with notes by end of November (could even be earlier). But answer writing/PYQs etc are left. Hence not very confident and want to give it more time.
For GS - will be doing the AWFG from day after tomorrow.

What are the primary concerns wrt location?

So some of the concerns were answered in the orientation.
I have a few questions?
1.What are the medical facilities there in case of emergency since it's a remote area?
2.Do we have to vacate the campus once the course ends in April? If yes, then it'll be stressful for us to find a new accomodation and shift just a month before prelims. I am sure going back home won't be an option for many.

Agreed with point #2, especially with native place being far away from NCR region, and stress of prelims coming up it's very tough.
