Should I ‘attempt’ civil services? If ‘Yes‘, how should I proceed with it?

About me:

Im 27 and have done engineering and MBA. Curently I’m working with an MNC and earning good. I’m also satisfied with my current job. I have written the exam ‘twice’, and couldn’t clear the Prelims. Primarily because I studied casually even when I had enough time. Now I have a full time job that requires me to put 10-12 hours a day.

So why civil services?

Only interested in IFS and will not switch from my job even if I crack any other service.

Should I take the plunge to write the exam next year? If yes, how can I go about it? I can devote 6-8 hours on weekends and 2-3 hours daily.

Thanks

PS:

Sorry guys for posting such a personal query here. A friend recommended that I might get some good advice here.

This community is full of brilliant people . Many of them have been in your situation. Many silent observers have been underdogs who have gotten what they wanted by silently working towards their goals.

Having said that,@underdog , can you throw some light ? And good advice ?

I think you have good chances if you prepare in a focused manner. This year, Neha Banerjee has cleared in her first attempt with a double digit rank along with a full time job. There are many others who have also achieved this feat. You may check their interviews and form a strategy.
