Should I stay in delhi? - ForumIAS

Should I stay in delhi?

I have exausted two attempts. This year i was getting around 80 in prelims.Shifted delhi 1 month ago and joined MGP and optional test series.

Not at all liking it.Lost around 4 kg in 1 month.I feel i used to study more than this in my home in patna.

Should I go back and continue mgp n optional tests online(though forum Patna centre is near my home only.)

Why did you shift to ORN in the first place?

1- I thought that I am missing something like hard core competition or something.
Mainly this point.

I’m usually the first person to tell people to shift back home if it is a conducive to studies. Before you take a rash decision however, I would advise you look into the reasons for why you shifted to ORN as suggested by@sjerngal as well as look into why you’re not able to study currently at ORN. What makes you dislike the place so much? This will give you a better picture of whether you should stay back or shift back home. Hope this helps :)

I have shifted recently to Delhi for mains prep and I can certainly say this now that you will not miss anything if you're preparing from home as well. Competition and all is just the hype created and trust me its not worth compromising your mental and physical health.

If you wish to stay, these are some tips from my limited experience :

1. Attend your classes regularly - Increases interactions, you will get some good air and of course its a better medium of attending classes vis a vis online.

2. Join a library. It helps you get in some sort of routine, it helps when you see others studying motivation aata hai acha khasa. I haven't joined library but yeh pros hai.

3. Make good friends. It really helps. I have my flatmates with whom I sit daily for few minutes in a day, we take morning walks together etc etc

4. Acha khana khao, physical body ko relax karo and just don't sit in your room all day. Bahar nikalo, achi hawa lo and please be happy. It helps.

Agar phir bhi change nahin ho pa rahi hai conditions for you, then go back home and study. You'll not miss anything, for sure sure I can say this.

Everyone will give you their own experience of staying in Delhi ,some will be having good experiences ,some will be having bad experiences but at last you have to take final decision .So with relaxed mind take a decision and go with it and don't doubt it ( as we all know the solutions for our problem but we dont want to sit and reflect on it )

Hope whatever decision you take it helps to you come out with flying colours

It all depends on you

I have a good experience in Delhi. Mainly because I've luckily got good people and tiffin services also.

(EDIT - Experience was not good, foff ORN)

However, before coming here I was romanticizing Delhi a lot, most of the people are on a long vacation that is going to last for years. Living conditions and homes suck, too densely populated. If you get with the wrong people (which comprises the maximum percentage in my library) you may even end up vacationing (for years)!

Health has to be taken care of by yourself, like having milk and fruits, etc. As far as classes and tests are concerned I guess they are the same except for the experience it provides of attending offline and may be disciplined in my case.

I am not a very senior player in UPSC, and I came to Delhi mainly for mahual so that I do not get stuck in the loop of the melancholy of not working and enjoying. Though here I've discovered new ways of sadness

Decision taken.

I will go back to my home.

Orn's environment is not at all according to my niche.

Thanx all for motivating me to take 2 days of thinking time.

Even I moved back to my hometown from ORN just 2 days back due to some issues. Hope it helps by knowing that you're not the only person moving out 50 days before mains xD
