Have Been Following this forum blog for many days and even years you one can say.

I am blank after 30th September as i am not able to focus on my study.

I am a Government Employees new into my job still settling into it and not in a mood to do worl that is assignes even 1% of it

Work environment is also not that good as state govt level C job.

I was studying in good way but something happened and lost the overall rhythm and still not able to come back.

Reading newspaper and solving mcqs is the bare minimum i am doing.  i was doing mains answer writing sincerely but idk how i lost the track of it.

Just confessing that i am stuck and couldn't come out of this lathergy.

I have joined forum Mgp as this being my last attempt. And given 4 test already.

Back to uni, but missing classes today to finish off backlogs.

1. Revise entire geo covered till now

2. Finish notes and answer writing for Mill

1- 70% done, 2- done w notes, answers remain

Everytime I get serious and regular in prep, i somehow begin to lose sleep. Everytime.

I don't feel like going to the dept today either.

The targets-

1. Finish geo revision

2. Mill answers

3. Make a broad plan for mid-Oct-Nov phase

This is the worst time for anyone preparing for Civils. Both exam and result are far far away. Nearness to exam brings the much needed sense of urgency.

On a side note, how much prep does one need for SFG entrance? @Neyawn @DM  and others?

More specifically, how should I prepare? I gave attempts in 2021 and 22, failed pre both times, and was on break from this prep since Jan'23. I am currently in the second year of my masters, and re-started prep in September. I am currently focusing on subjects that I was particularly weak at– geography, environment, science & tech. I am taking classes for these, but finding it hard to manage time, and confused whether I would be able to revise other core subjects before SFG entrance. I am also yet to begin with current affairs.

How should I go about my prep– any guidance would be useful. I want to enroll for SFG because no other program offers such rigourous practice for pre. But at the same time, i am worried I might not clear it's entrance because I have been out of touch since long.

@Neyawn please guide sir.

France boasting about the origination of liberty in their revolution - isn't the strict restriction on display of religious symbols in public an attack on individual liberty? - coudn't find many articles on this. Views?

Many perspectives by political thinkers on this. The primary idea is that a country's laws are most often defined by their specific histories. In this case, French Revolution was inspired because of the corruption of the Church and the increasing wealth of the clergy class. The idea of separation of "church and state" (or their idea of secularism) is very much a consequence of the rigid power structures in favour of religious institutions that went onto encroach upon personal liberty of individuals.

The country sees the separation of church and state (or the restriction of religious symbol in public) as the way to protect individual liberty (or to put it another way - protect the state from the influence of religion and hence carry out its job as a non partisanship law making/protecting body)

@happySisyphus If you're interested in exploring it academically, Machiavelli was the first proponent of it. John Locke is a popular thinker who is primarily associated with this church-state separation.
If you wish to go even further back, the Ancient Greece had Aristotle who is considered amongst the first political philosophers to advocate this idea.

Ofcourse, this is not to say that the ground realities in France are exactly this. There are multiple contradictions and overlap of religion with public spaces. Then there's the common argument of "positive secularism" (allow display of religious symbols in public and a celebration of it) that the country routinely brings up for discussion.
