UPPCS-2021

Hey guys! Need suggestions on uppcs-Pre. I attempted 2020 paper to get the idea, and ended up marking only 60 questions correct effectively! There were too many factual questions which we generally ignore in UPSC. Any success mantra which could be integrated without harming UPSC prelims preparation?

Hi, I got selected in UPPSC-2019. Would like to offer my two cents. The 2019 paper was relatively less factual. Here’s how I prepared:

History: Did PYQs thoroughly. And rest was the same as UPSC. A number of questions are repeated.

Geography: Again PYQs compilation( Ghatnachakra- it’s available in english)- questions are repeated

Polity: Lakshmikant. Do memorise some of the important articles. For instance CAG, AG etc..

Economy:  Very basic questions are asked. Would be a cakewalk for those who have covered the basics.

Science and tech: Lucent. A lot of factual questions here.

Current affairs: Completely from YouTube. Worked well for me. Please cover UP specific current affairs as well. Go through some important appointments, sports tournaments etc..

@sstarrr There is a channel that goes by the name – Study for civil services. Please don’t judge by the quality of their content. Just cover their current affairs compilation both, UP specific and general.
Also, more questions are asked from past six months. At least, that was the case in 2020. So, maybe pay more attention to that.

@SergioRamos,,bhai do you have some idea of UPPSC or  MPPSC.Can we get totally dependent on Ghatna Chakra for History,Science and other subjects?Specially when we are having good command over UPSC basic books.

See, last time with no prep, I gave UPPCS on my UPSC knowledge. Got net 81 correct. The selection was hovering around 92-93. The current portion really baffled me. Basic knowledge from UPSC surely helps but a factual edge is needed. People do the factual stuff by solving Ghatna chakra as there is high repetition in PCS FROM pyq's. If you can manage, ghatna chakra is a really good option.

Welcome Folks!

Suggest something for covering current affairs? Paper analysis is pending, I have to see to know what I can expect from them.

Guys, what do you suggest to read with maximum return exclusive of upsc routine material. I will be having only 25-30 hrs at my disposal for uppcs.

CA of last 4-5 months with a focus on factual stuff that UPPCS asks.

@SergioRamos I didn’t refer to any other magazines specifically for this (except for vision IAS which was for upsc) and it worked out fine for me. Instead I used to watch videos on YouTube where they cover current affairs through questions.
Given the amount of time that is left, I’m not even sure if both of these could be done efficiently.

I tried solving UPPSC pre paper, got something around 70 only right. being a first attempter at both UPSC and UPPSC , dont have time for ghatnachakra of all subjects , what i could gauge was that mapping in geo , some facts about schemes (particulary when they are launched ) are easy scoring areas. Planning to do science and tech and current affairs (if time permits) from ghatnachakra.

@Jon_Targeryan Bhai material mil jayega par time kaha milega padhne ka. Mahesh Kumar Baranwal for Geography is very popular among UPPSC aspirant community. There is certainly trade off between CSE and PCS. I think at max 2 weeks can be given exclusively to PCS.
