There are people from 10 different states in our Gated community. Still, all of them identify as belonging to the same community. They celebrated New Year together, and celebrate many other festivals together. This is 'Unity' in 'Diversity'. Same is the case with India, where people identify as Indians/ Andhras/ Tamils/ Punjabis despite huge diversities of religions/ caste/ languages/ cultures within.
