Reddit. It can become whatever you want it to be. My reddit always motivates me & make me feel like world is a great place.

Isn’t YouTube a social media? Then that first for me. Reddit is a close second.

@AzadHindFauz go to r/indianpeoplequora someday.

Yeah, I check it out regularly. It's true. Quora is not the same as was before. However, one can still find pearls of wisdom there every now and then.

@nerdfighter conversely I feel it’s very negative and political. Not in the sense that every other post is like that but if one’s browsing r/popular then a lot of mainstream subs appear with overtly political posts that are simply tribalistic and in most instances not even supposed to be posted where they are.

I’m curious which subs you’re following because I’d love me some positivity too :D

The only subreddit I like is r/politicalcompassmemes

I usually unsubscribe if any subreddit which makes me feel shitty or angry. My reddit is zero political. It's mostly about my favourite sitcoms, other non-upsc goals I have.

@nerdfighter definitely r/dundermifflin then :P
I agree when you can keep it focused it’s great. However I do like coming across new interesting stuff too. I used Apollo frequently and it greatly helped, I could filter out all politics, have specific words banned etc. Then it got too addictive so had to delete. Now I mostly use it only while shitting but on the mobile website. Has its drawbacks that sometimes it’s hard to not get frustrated at things you come across but also benefits. I feel I’m much more tolerant now than I was earlier. The shitty website UI makes sure I don’t waste a lot of time.

I’ve never been able to make my feed diverse enough for it to not get boring. But I guess it’s only for the greater good because earlier I was absolutely addicted.

I used to use reddit a lot. Last year, I blocked it for an entire year. And now I don't even go to reddit even without a blocker.

Regarding politics. For me it was a very conscious decision. I had a fight with a friend due to politics. And we didn't talk for a year. I saw how angry I was becoming because of sources like r/India & Hindu editorials. I know ki yeh zamana hi na-kabil-e bardaasht hai & there are things one should get legit angry about. But for now, I have switched off my political sensor for everything. Someday, I'll sit down & reassess this but that day is not today.

@nerdfighter very similar for me too. I didn’t have a fight but I was getting into a very negative space overall, to the extent that I didn’t have a day go by where I wasn’t wasting hours frustrated and angry! The realisation that even if things are shitty or just being made out to be so, I can’t really do/say anything since I have zero credibility right now, helped. It did take a lot of time but I’m glad I’m out now. So yeah just like you said, someday but not today.
