Sry, can't resist :)

Quick Yes Minister trivia- Indira Gandhi was very fond of this series, and infact she was quoted somewhere (unable to refer it right now sorry) that she learns to manoeuvre the IAS officers by watching it on regular basis. It is not only the best English satire ever aired, but is used as an academic source to understand power in sociology and political department of universities (can certainly vouch for du). In fact, Yes Minister was officially adopted for Indian audiences in HIndi in the year 2001 on Star Plus, which had Farookh Sheikh as lead. But am unable to find this hindi adaption online anywhere.

My all time favourite episode from Yes Minister is this first episode from Season 3, named as "equal opportunity", and I request every member of forum to watch it (at least this episode) whenever their schedule allows for. It will make all of us bit more attune to the issues of unfortunate glass ceiling hurting every women who aspires to dream in such ranks of hierarchy.

For me, I have three gold standards of political satire. Raag Darbaari (Shri Lal Shukla), Yes Minister, and writings of Harishankar Parsai in that particular order.

Pehle to tum Shukla ji ka naam aadar se lo.

Ganjahe log ko bahut hurt feel hota h bhai.

Ganj aur ganjahe kisi bhi order forder se upar h.

Shukra manao ki ruppan babu ke paalak baalak kaanoon ke samman me lockdown me aaj kal shaant baithe h

I found it to be a shameless, anxiety inducing, very far from reality, long-form advertising of why coachings are essential to qualify this examination, peppered with a wholly unrealistic image of what one can expect after qualifying this examination.

But that's just me.

@Arrokoth - Agree with this 'long-form advertising of why coachings are essential to qualify this examination, peppered with a wholly unrealistic image of what one can expect after qualifying this examination.

But there is anxiety I feel, esp. for those from the Hindi heartland. This exam overwhelmingly becomes part of your existence once you start preparing for it. People can't imagine their life without it. And this feeling grows strong as attempts pass by.

Anyways, aap interview pe focus karo.

@SunnyParashar Can you throw light on what paper demands to someone who have not appeared mains or gone through mains exam hall situation. It is one paper where we are not able to flow points in paper within stipulated time. I gone through Lukmaan theory notes but after looing at question it feels like isme 150-200 words kya likhenge? Philosophical lagta hai..  Also these days case studies are out of box putting dilemmas in contrasting questions..

I agree with you, bhai. I was very reluctant to watch it since I've never lived in ORN. I ended up watching the first episode recently and the way the show has played with that very real, very deep anxiety is what I consider "shameless". It constantly tries to browbeat the viewer into believing that there's only one path to nirvana (how a selection is portrayed), and that passes through coachings.

It left a very bad taste in my mouth, hence the general dislike for the show.

Ab Interview par se focus hat kar saanso par aa gaya hai, situation hi kuch aisi hai. But waapis koshish karte hai groove me aane ki. 😅

How are Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister related?

So "Yes, Minister" was aired between 1980-82 (in three seasons) where the protagonists Jim Hacker was a mere minister of Ministry of Admin affairs  and Sir Humphrey was his ministry's secy.

"Yes, Prime minister" was aired between 1986-88, when our protagonists return with their elevated positions of PM, and cab secy respectively.
