Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@vvvikas0078212yes yes I agree, gs3 particularly was the anchor, more so considering the fact, 115+ was avg. in my friend circle. As for gs2, due to law degree I feel over ambitious, quite wrongly I suppose... ..this mains around, since I failed prelim last year so had better prep with newspaper editorials and ncert..knew roughly 13-14 questions with some credence..either way 7 mins for a answer, it is only a rat race, barely good enough time to provide unique analysis... solely my observation

@zombielandyes, that makes more sense..but the guidance I received then was more on the lines of "poora attempt karo, har haal mein" which I feel is more of a misguided advice, absent any caveats.
Both ways works – but it depends on your strategy
- Target few questions for which you have good content and leave couple of questions for which you have nothing to write
- Attempt all if you know at least 1-2 points in each -- write some basic info like definition, pros & cons in short (just take half page), but don’t bluff.
- Don’t leave questions if you have 2-3 points ready, complete them in short and move to other questions quickly - that will help you fetch 2 marks easily.

@Biryanimafia_I ve given mains 2017 and given this year too .from my experience what i hv learnt.. by paper completion it doesn't mean attempting all questions but maximizing no. Of attempted questions..as there is limited mark to be given even for best answers .so if one writing 10 best answers he is going to suffer , similarly one written 20 answers with poor content is also going to suffer.also completing whole ppr is popular as many ppl doesn't clr bcuz of marginal numbers and as per most discussed marking schemes even 2 marks are given for poorest answers (i don't agree with this) which can help those who lose by just a 1 or 2 marks.thats y we are guided to complete paper..but ppl forget that it does not mean to compromise on content of other answers

mai kisi ko abuse nahi karta Lekin koi ungli karega to reply to achha hi milega.
Prelims ke time me maine UPSC questions ke answers ke liye sahi bola to bhi mujhe troll kiya gaya ki mai border me esliye galat answer Bata raha hu ..apne ko fark nahi pada.....the result was that I WROTE MAINS ( most of trollers will give prelims again ..and I am checking mains test copy of many known trollers )
Ab maine apne mains ke baare me sahi bola apni analysis bataya , tab bhi trolling suru ho gai......BHAI FARK NAHI PADTA.....I am still confident to get rank.

Someone had asked what I wrote in French question, I replied then someone said that... jo maine likha hai sabne wahi likha. So in the comic sense I said bhai yahi to likha ja sakta hai, baby ko base pasand hai nahi likha ja sakta.@sat_009se koi matlab nahi mere reply se , still he tried to become MANAGER OF FORUM QUEST.
ab 2 din pehle kisi ne mujhe reply kiya ki.....BC DKT to gaitonde nikla.....maine usko civility nahi sikhaya bcz i know this kind of language is common among the peer and same age group.
Guys be caution. .....i want to tell one reality ....forum me mains quest me kuchh log aise hai jinhone mains diya hi nahi still they are showing themselves as HARBINGER ( with many forum account) ... aap samajh lena mai kiski baat kar raha hu.....agar bharosa na ho to uska mains ka admit card maango he will teach u right to privacy K S PUTTASWAMY CASE.

Baki Forum ki Janta ko kya lagta hai ......"FARK nahi PADTA" bcz yaha par logo ko sach baat pachti nahi kyoki sach koi bolta nani aur koi sach bolne lage to usko troll kar do.
Mai ye bhi bol sakta tha ki mai sociology me 320 plus pa sakta hu, aur gs me sabhi attempt kiya aur 470 tak pa jaunga.....Lekin sahi bola....apni real analysis bataya to sabko laga ki mai publicity ke liye aaya hu.
Jo bhi ho I will keep defending my stand and waiting for my mains result with more confidence after trolling.

@hirockyrocks7101Ohhh. That Id even I remember. I thought his comments to be serious uptil now and even encouaged him through a write up. But, now I dont feel it is real at all. I dont know why he is saying he left so much.
I read his essay. It was good but I dont think that matched Vikram.

@Caesaraccha...positively kuch hona toh nhi chahiye..koi election etc. bhi nhi hai around the corner.. Plus almost every person in authority has been proactive in making statements regarding peace etc..dekhte hai kal phir
