Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@John_Titorlast year mains ended on 7th oct and result devlared on 20th Dec as far as i remember.
This tym mains ended 8 days before last tym so atleast the date this tym shud not cross 12th.

A good Handwriting is +20 in each essay.

All the stories of introduction of essay are vague, at max 10-15 marks are for introduction not the whole essay dependent upon that, the thing is that, we need good to the point write up in the body of essay, people who digressed from the topic or wrote very technical hi fi stuff or beat around the bush flowery language they only got less than 110 last year including me, its better to be rational.
My insider told me that entire evaluation process was finished a couple of weeks ago. But the pendrive from which the results were to be uploaded got infected with virus as they were uploading it. (They think it was the reason behind kudankulam nuclear plant malware attack.) Now they're hoping it's a common cold otherwise they'll have to redo the evaluation since the pendrive is the only record maintained(for secrecy purpose).
So result may come on 1st December or next year, there's no in between.

@sat_009u r right bro .. in 2016 , I wrote essay with ornamental flowery language , assuming like i was writing any editorial ,, i got just 112
... in 2017 , i used very simple language , sticking to topic , simple examples ,, got 142
@TheHobbitthe examiners check a lot of copies and highly technical and deviated content can surely make them award less marks

@Chanakyalatest update, UPSC high command has scolded evaluaters for their sub-optimal checking.
