Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread
Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

@abhishek_pmaybe my memory is weak.But in exam it was not so as I could recall 2 pages worth of data in minutes.
Chalo baaki to exam ke baad to sabhi ke answer acche hain.
Result mein pata chal hi jayega.
@abhishek_pExactly, I hardly remember what I have written in GS papers, except some questions of ethics. In essay we think a lot and most of the things comes there itself so we remember what we wrote.

@destinirules2354i used the same examples....
2016 - i have not prepared anything except quotes and examples and i got 158
2017 - first essay was gud but it took almost 2 hours so divert from 2nd essay and got 129...
2019 - wrote both essays with multiple dimensions and sticked to basics...hoping for 2016 type miracle....

But those sharing points here might be first attempters with confused brains having no idea what they wrote, and no one to discuss answers with. So they share their answers, so that a senior can give some insights about what can go wrong. Although one must not trust blind opinions on forums butstill 1% bhi kisi ki baat kaam ki nikal jae to khud ki galti pata chal jaegi...that why I am here
@132_SIDI always wonder ki jab forum pe aayo to itne top ke answer aur essay par jab toppers copy dekho to normal cheezen.Par forum se itne toppers kyun nahi aate (don't tell me about crazyphoton ) aur non forum wale toppers hote hain.Baaki to samajdhar ko ishara kaafi hai hum kehna kya chah rahe hain..

@Rand_Al_Thorif one has not good writing skill then real examples are better than the fictious ones. I also used real example for the introduction. It was short n to the point. Last year I used fictional one nd the introduction got elongated to more than one page.
I think every year coaching institutes emphasize one or other thing. Like story wala introduction + use of many diagrams+ 50-60 tests for prelims....

As they are providing booklet so no need to worry about word limit provided ur font is neither too big nor too small. Also word limit is upper limit not lower limit...no need to feel all the pages...

Yes. Even so caloed structure has not much relevance. Rich content takes care of structure. Without content IBC format is not going to help much.
@bevancomthis is not about story Vs non-story introduction. When story- introduction is over-emphasized, aspirants start believing that introduction without story will result in poor marks. If one has not good writing skill then story wala introduction may affect marks badly

Agreed to extent..
But ppl do remember broad outline of essays.
It’s impossible to recall what we have written in GS questions given the diversity of questions and demand of questions.. 73 GS questions nobody would be able to remember..
But few questions where ppl have written excellent answers tend to be imbibed in memories.. however i do not remember a single gs answer
I have written courage n dedication wala essay.. i dont recall what i have written except examples.
Ppl tend to post Gs answers here after going through many institutes answers and google..
Fake ppl will automatically vanish from forum once the result is out...

@zombielandtrue that, from personal experience I can confirm that starting with a story is an escape route when we are out of good ideas or facts(which happened with me while I was writing in exam)..rarely I have seen any good essay that starts with a story, only upsc junta has opted this methodology to such an extant
