Civil Services Examination 2015 Notification Released – Highlights

The Union Public Service Commission had released the notification for Civil Services Examination 2015.

Highlights:-

  • Civil Services Preliminary will have two papers – CSAT ( Paper II ) will be qualifying in nature. You will have to score a minimum of 33% marks to qualify.
  • Cut off for Prelims will only be based on GS Marks.
  • Number of vacancies is 1129
  • Additional Attempt to those who attempted UPSC in 2011, but are now not eligible due to  age limit.
  • Age limit for GEN: 32 years, OBC: 32+3 Years, SC/ST: 32+5 Years
  • Each Paper will be of 200 Marks each

Syllabus for Prelims Paper I & Paper II

Part-A Preliminary Examination

Paper I – (200 marks) Duration : Two hours

  • Current events of national and international importance.
  • History of India and Indian National Movement.
  • Indian and World Geography – Physical, Social, Economic
  • Geography of India and the World.
  • Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
  • Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion,
  • Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
  • General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization
  • General Science.

Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours

  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision-making and problem-solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magni-
    tude, etc.) (Class X level),
  • Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. Class X level)

Procedure for Application for UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam

Applications will be online only. The website for applying for the Preliminary will be :-

www.upsconline.nic.in

Last Date for Application:  19 June, 23:59 Midnight

( But do not wait till then as many last moment people will crash the system )

    Note I: The Commission will draw a listof candidates to be qualified for CivilService (Main) Examination based onthe criterion of minimum qualifyingmarks of 33% in General Studies Paper-II of Civil Services (Preliminary)Examination and total qualifying marksof General Studies Paper-I of CivilServices (Preliminary) Examination asmay be determined by the Commission.

    I couldn’t found that merit list will be prepared on the basis of Paper-1 marks only.
