@SergioRamosHey, I am primarily looking for a source to make Intro - points - conclusion format notes. I just find onlyIAS ones to be a bit concise and upto the point. I have read standard books for polity, economy etc so just trying to merge the two and their material provides the necessary skeleton for this purpose.

I checked Raus mains compass, say for the topic Inclusive growth both have more or less the same point. Raus goes into a bit more depth, but is that depth useful while writing answers? From my limited understanding it's basically generate maximum points, substantiate them and you have a good answer. Have I got it wrong?

And what do you recommend for topics like Society, Governance, Social Justice etc?

Thanks once again.

I had asked a forum mentor this question and was suggested to try either Prahaar / SunyaIAS material (Paid) for mains preparation.
I have been using Prahaar for GS2.

Today my 6 year old headphone lost a limb and that prompted me to introspect about my own tortuous journey into the abyss of cse. Am i also not being worn down by circumstances, chewed by the sharp teeth of time, consumed by profound grief and guilt,  undermined by my sheer lack of discipline. My hairs are graying , my health is deteriorating , my parents are growing old, my friendships have passed into the black hole of oblivion. What am I doing with my life.

A mocking voice came wafting from next room : making a mountain out of a molehill.

"It's just a headphone silly",shouted my sister over her lungs in her quirky voice.

" Would it have killed you to feign some sympathy", said I.

" I don't have any sympathy for petty bourgoise who plunge into existential crisis for a stupid overpriced product of a capitalist system that exploits the labour of the third world poor workers ,and that makes a lot of noise about sustainability and ESG corporate pradigm to whitewash its products; and then sell these products to the same gullible bourgeoisie who lap it up, thanks to the blietzkrieg of modern marketing techniques that have succeeded in transforming the multidimensional man into a unidimensional consuming man who defines his identity in terms of what he owns, and of which brand", came the retort.

Needless to say my mood was runined and i knew exactly the thing that could cheer me up. So , i went out to have a pizza at bominos. After that i went to the shopping mall to buy some expensive branded tshirts (made in Bangladesh in a sweatshop) , and some Jodhpurs at a steep discount( they said it's limited time deal so my fomo kicked up and i forgot that they have been offering the same discount since forever. Great strategy, mark your product at 7k give 3 k discount and it's still expensive af) . nevertheless, After suffusing myself with capitalistic gratification , my senses were pleasantly calmed. Took an uber back home and gladly reasured my self with ' Isn't life amazing'.

Oh! About those headphones. The company just released a new improved version which will make me feel as if the celestial nymphs themselves are  doing a live concent in front of my eyes. This made me wet at my mouth, that is to say i was salivating like Tommy , my neighbour's dog. Cant wait to get my hands on them, that is to say the headphones , not the dog. I hate dogs. They remind of my own pavlovian conditioning.

Tsk tsk we are all one dimensional men living multidimensional hypocrisies…

But you are a woman

Prahaar is good. Even I did Polity, Governance, Economics idhar se hi. Some topics are missing and some are poorly arranged.Like I can recall that they have put some content of FPO's under Food Processing Industries(FPIs).Nakal ke liye akal thing!

Also, keep one basic book as reference and add Prahaar up and over it.

Guys, I need some help. How do you peeps mug up things and revise?

I am not able to do it efficiently and it is costing me heavily in mains.

In my last two mains, I have deduced that mains cannot be cleared without effective mugging up. I am not able to do that properly and it is making me irritated.

Any suggestion how to go about it?

Make your "Dirty notes", by that I mean short notes/ one page notes or anything under the sun , that includes the things that you have difficulty in remembering or things that you want to be on ur tips.

A week before the exam, my productivity was super low, but i keeps revising and recalling all the facts, quotes, diagrams etc. over and over again, so I found it relatively easy to make them a part of my answers as well.

gave my first mgp test today, and could do 3 or 4 questions in 90 minutes, aur mujhe yahi laga ki yad kaise rakha jaye itna content, soch soch ke likh raha tha.

i think the suggestion for making notes is best, but in my situation, i have hard time making notes.

for example today was a sectional test of gs2 and the primary book being lakshmikant, i knew it wasnt enough for mains. so the whole week i scavenged and for perfecting the topic first and then to make comprehensive notes, but ended up doing poor scattered prep, less revision and very few notes.

and as i analysed the paper, i realised i could actually do well if i would have really revised lakshmikanth topics from mains perspective, and then in the later part enhanced it with references from here and there

but still i dont think i can make notes for mains, because i make offline notes and with no experience of notemaking, bas rayta felta rehta hai paper pe, koi comprehensice chiz nahi, na updation ki space, confusion hojata hai pura

looking for suggestions, agar yahan koi guide kar de bade log to bhala hoga.

Make your notes in such a way that it helps with revision. Meaning they should be concise, contain keywords, examples and data.

One of my biggest mental constraints was reading pages and pages of notes so I ensured to compress my notes in such a manner they fitted in one page entirely. They were untidy but to my mind it felt like “sirf ek page hi toh h”. Then revise it as many number of times as possible.

Repeated iterations are necessary along with that the good old “likh ke yaad karna” really works.

Keep brainstorming answer frameworks on a daily basis. I would take an hour daily just to  pick up the topics I had revised that day and quickly run through the points in my head with a scrap piece of paper. You don’t have to even write the full keyword just the beginning few letters along with rough diagrams  and structures.

Mains ke time pe agar anti-environment banna hain… itna paper barbaad karna hota hain. 😅

@SergioRamos @LetsGetThisBread @sjerngal Thanks for the inputs , even though it wasn't my question, appreciate it.

I am myself in the process of making notes. And it is so much hard work, I envy people who have already done it.

Up until now, I have been consistent in my prep, at 70 percent i would say, but was orienting more towards Routine based study, like 8 hrs nikalne hai, 3 subah 3 din me 3 sham me. Even when i was posting targets, this routine was always at the back of my mind. And therefore, i think, i failed and changed targets.

Reorienting strongly towards weekly goals process, This is for the 1st week

Zyada nahi hai , but i want to put a green highlight on them very strongly.

But the good part is I love reading comments here, people are just like me struggling with the same things as I'm!

Hi! Does anyone remember the history book (not spectrum or bipan chandra or the ncerts) that was being recommended because there were few questions in prelims directly from it in the recent past? I am unable to recollect the name of the authors. (I feel like reading some books and thought it would be better to read this than any random one.)

Thanks.
