Starting out a bit late. The targets for today-

Spent almost the whole day in college,beginning with admission form hassles and ending with boring Drafting class. Agin did nothing beyond newspaper.
I have time till 3 pm tomorrow. Will try to cover what I committed for today.

Sociologists call this phenomena as a form of religious revivalism. Where religion tries to stay relevant in dynamic society leading to situation of ailenation and adaption.
Though from an artistic pov, There seems to be a projection of one's imagination coloured with one's social location. Mixing of God themes and cartoons is not restricted to India. Lot's of anime have references to Japanese religions and mythology. Naruto's Kyubi, Sasuke's Amatratsu, Indra are examples of how local stories are incorporated into the mangaka's imagination of ninja world. Similarly One piece also have references to Greeco, Japanese, Egpytian mythology and Gods.
Then we have Percy Jackson where Greek Gods are adapted into imagination.
Also you remember Hades and Hercules cartoon during our childhood? Was a part of Disney if I remember correctly. Basically convergence of cartoons , religion and mythology has been there.
Even your fav The Addams familyseems to be influenced from vampire/ goth culture and mythology of medeival Europe?
Since the artists and the audience are not isolated from the society it's natural to have those connections drawn and explored upon.
If one tries to integrate individualistic and sociological perspective we realise, with new structures, new ideas emerge and somehow old ideas find a way in new ideas. This can either be because of cultural lag or because the tenacity of old ideas or maybe because of artistic laziness.
Tldr : I need to get a life outside this forum.

Still stuck there. Either I will take an off tomorrow or day after to make up for this loss. Even if I don't take an off tomorrow, yet I will try finishing this stuff by tomorrow.
I don't know a bit about cartoons. My childhood and early teens was spent watching Doordarshan. But I will always wish someone makes a big budget superhero movie on Bhagwan Hanuman. Also, as an IR student, I rue for the fact that our film industry has failed to export some of our greatest historical accounts. That would have sharpened our Soft Power beyond that usual Curry and great food. Even the West, which is a far more recent civilisation was able to export their values. We failed to do our bit.
