CSE 2023: Plan/ Strategy/ Daily Routine

I’m taking a jump again this time. This time without any support or any plan-B.

(The famous scene of Dark Knight Rises: Rising from the pit)

Moved out of my home town (not Delhi).

In last 1 month, analysed my failures. Read some books that I wanted to. Books related to IR and Internal security, and self help. The books covered so far are IR and Internal Security of Pavneet sir, S. Jaishankar’s The India Way, and Deep work. The books in line are Shyam Saran’s How India sees the world, and How China sees India and the world. You can recommend other books too. I realised how complex all these diplomatic and security issues are.

Watched some tv series- Panchayat season 2, Mirzapur season 2, Game of Thrones (watched again with detailed explanation of each episodes), Rajneeti movie. I think I’m taking too much interest in politics. Enough. Not any more.

Padhai wadhai karo, IAS-YAS Bano (Mirzapur scene in background)

All the best to all for 2023. Let’s grind.

[I’ll not be very active on this platform. Apun ko deep work mangta]

Hi Guys. A pretty staggered day with very little progress despite putting in hours.

Actually, I got pretty confused with one lecture of Mrunal Geography and have been stuck there.

If someone did refer to those videos, can you please clarify if the content in G6/P2 video right or has glaring mistakes? I feel depth of knowledge in those explanations, ranging from confusing Latent Rate of Condensation with Latent Rate of Evaporation+ Explanation on Adiabatic Lapse Rate, which I feel is an explanation for Lapse and NOT ADIABATIC LAPSE RATE.

Btana if someone has done that. I will be obliged since my Climatology part is the weakest and I don't wanna have weak foundations in Geography this time around too.

Thank you!

I didn’t get your question. For that matter I watched the whole video. But couldn’t get your doubt. Could you be more specific? Maybe I can answer correctly. Because Geography used to be my Optional and Thermal subject used to be favourite subject in college days, although I’ve lost touch with both.

2.3k views

Hahaha you are absolutely right…. But Give her some slack, please. General studies me itna generalisation chalta hai. In the words of Mrunal sir, “Thoda padho aage badho”.

However, ‘Latent of Condensation’ was a valid point.

Don’t complicate it so much. The line of thinking is:

  1. Warm air ascends.
  2.  We consider adiabatic expansion while the air ascends. Therefore, with expansion of air parcels, the temperature decreases.
  3.  When the temperature reaches dew point, the air parcel attains maximum relative humidity and thus looses moisture.
  4. The suspended particles in the air act as sites for nucleation and further condensation.
  5.  Latent heat of condensation is released, which further increases the temperature of air parcels.
  6. The air parcel thus ascends further, to reach dew point again and form clouds.

If you already know this much, then you’re good to go. Geography if not that difficult.

We all can relate to you. You can say whatever you want in this thread, We’re all ears.

Remember, this preparation phase is temporary. Preparing in seclusion is the primary or basic rule of this game. You can opt out of this game, whenever you want. You are free. But if you want to be a winner, you have to face this challenge.

If it’s daily routine, and not able to complete the targets, that’s troubling you then try going easy on yourself.

For example, try to wake up early in the morning. Get out for a walk. Divide your day in 4 quarters. Read newspaper and a book of your choice in the first quarter of the day. Breakfast me nayi chijen try karo roj (my new favourite is Jhaal murhi). In the next 2 quarters, study as if you are doing a job. In the last quarter of the day, do what you like. Watch’s movie or TV series. Talk to your family, friends, etc even if you need to visit social media. Or forum is always an option. Koi topic chhed do baatein karne ke liye.

And don’t make your life and routine monotonous. Add mirch masala to your life, and kabhi kabhi chhaunk/ tadka bhi.

Ek jaadu ki jhappi 🤗

Really liked your advice of breaking the day into quarters!

Also,is it called jhal murhi in Bihar too? Just curious 😅

Thanks. I learnt to go easy with myself the hard way. Instead of complicating things, I try to make them simple.

And it’s not called murhi in Bihar, it’s called Daana.  Aur spicy ki bajaye meetha gud ke tilwa (bade laddu ke shape me) khana pasand karte hain log. Khaskar Makar Sankranti ke time.

How is everyone? Preparation going good?

How is everyone? Preparation going good?

Whim and impulse have taken control of the ship. I tried to placate them by taking help of senecaji but to no avail. Like a bunch of stubborn bratty child, they even taunted me trying to bait me into giving them a good thrashing. But i realised the more i try to be controlling and overbearing the more their defiance grows. So, for now i am waiting it out, hoping they get tired and go to sleep ,like all children do, and i may have my peace of mind back and i may get down to do some serious work XD

How is it going over there 😅

Something similar going on with me. Even I am going with the flow. Being out at prelims is such a different feeling. I want to study alot, but somehow just can't.

Same here. Keeping myself distracted and busy. I can read anything but upsc notes. I feel like puking.

Please iss platform ko revive karo koi. 2 years pehle jaisa.

That will require all to show up daily ,post up there targets and be honest so that there could be some accountability as it  used to be on 2021 thread , yahan to jisne thread create kiya vo hi gayab h 😂😂

I also wanted to post targets and show up daily. But wanted to continue after the state PSC exam, to be held on 30th September.

Lekin ab soch raha hun kal se hi shuruat kar du. Jo bhi revision ya test chal raha hai.

Ganeshji ka naam leke shuru karte hain. But with a condition like Rishi Vyas had for Ganeshji, while writing Puranas, was to understand/ imbibe before moving on.

Although it is also said that Vyas was not a person but a tradition. No way one could’ve written so much of text.

Khair… Hume to akele hi ye sab karna hoga

सुप्रभात

Completed all except Science.

BPSC calendar ke anusar time se exam le lein yahi kafi hai. Bahut time barbad kiya hai iss ek exam ne.

Modern history will probably take 2 more days. I realised that My notes are very condensed. One page takes atleast 10 minutes time.

Probably Same schedule for tomorrow. Will update in morning.

1, 5 done. Instead of Modern, revised Geography.

Baaki din GS papers ko analyse karne me gaya. I felt the real challenge was to complete the paper in time as well as recalling relevant points to write. Lekin paper dekh kar maza hi aa gaya. Then watched Essay paper analysis video. Liked ma’am’s approach.

@Morticia  thank you for such a beautiful picture.

Chhote chhote bacchon ko ikattha karke Test cricket khela karte the… 5 days ka. Rules hamara fair hota tha lekin talent me koi barabari nahi. Me and my cousin (captains of 2 teams) used to play for like 3-4 days. Aur un bacchon ko maximum 1 din me all out. Fir baad mein wo bacche bade ho gaye aur hamara game chhota ho gaya ;p

Really fun read. As someone who really is judgemental of studygrams and study logs, this has forced me to see another aspect of the trend. Lagta h sach m buddhe ho rhe h with all the “aajkal ke bacche” dialogues

I’m also surprised by seeing how effectively “aajkal ke bacche” can manage all their social media accounts while also studying. There is now definitely a generation gap. Waise mera to same generation me generation gap hai :D

I’m usually judgemental and sceptical of virtual friends. Always ek haath ki duri.

Got up late. Then watched House of Dragons.

Earlier I used to be like “Zindagi ho to aisi ho… warna zinda to…” (Guddu pandit kahin)

I’d rather want to be free folk. The only wish is to have the name to family and kins. Because they have invested in me and look up to me.

The politics to power becomes fierce because of the rule that Winner takes it all. There should rather be a proportional representation.

Today’s targets:

  1.  Newspaper
  2.  Modern history (I’ll try to finish it by today)
  3. CA
  4. Test

Completed all except the test. Ab Test ko halt hi karte hain. Kyun rojana target de ke khud ko embarrass karna.

Modern taking more time than it should. I was like this frustrated in reading only 18 pages of my notes:

Target for this week is to complete the revision of all subjects. Then only mock test.

@Morticia   same as@Aazaad  I also faced no problem in CA class.

@LetsGetThisBread  is the professor? Where’s the next heist?

How's House of Dragons ? I'm very reluctant to watch it after the shit show of season 8

It’s slowly picking up its pace. Btw I don’t find it much fascinating to watch as GoT. There’s more drama this time.

I found season 7 & 8 more fascinating to watch. It was the crux of the series.

Hello folks ! Loving the energy of this place :) Needed some advice regarding CA - I've been 70% regular in reading the newspaper since May but haven't done anything else beside that, took up monthly magazines recently. I've started note making of important stuff but what do I do about the months that have gone by ? And what should I take care of hereon regarding CA ? Studying for CA confuses me very often about how exactly should I proceed with it. Duvidha ka hal bata do please.

@LetsGetThisBread @Naadan_Parinda @mightyraju @Morticia and all others who's usernames I can't remember atm.

Dont stress too much for CA for now. It’ll be anyway covered in monthly or yearly compilations. Newspapers are only to keep you updated and aware about the events happening in the world and the ideas being discussed among the different interest groups. The same things keep repeating in different forms. Try to be consistent from now onwards.

Hello everyone.

I’ll be posting targets from today onwards.

  1. Backlogs of CA classes (1/3)
  2. Planning and organising my study table
  3. Journaling and reflecting on the last month.

This month reminds me of the movie “October Sky”

Significance of October sky: There are no clouds. Clear sky. No strong winds. A favourable condition for launching the rockets.

Metaphorical meaning: Reaching for the stars.

CA class done. Planning and organising part will continue tomorrow.

BTW I didn’t like the movie “October Sky” much. The problem with the story was that it was not entirely true. The same goes with recently launched “Rocket Boys”, based on Sarabhai and Bhabha.

I remember reading the book of ISRO “ From fishing Hamlet to Red planet”. The journey of India’s space program from launching a simple sounding rocket to developing the capability of launching missions to other planets is phenomenal. I was particularly impressed by Homi Bhabha’s skills of managing to take help of US, USSR and French Space agencies.

The one issue about India’s scientists community, which I found a hint of in the book and also Wings of fire, is the ego clash and media publicity of an individual. It is a collective effort of the whole organisation. And it should be seen as such.

P.S: On 4th October, 1957, Sputnik was launched. And 4-10 October is World Space Week.

I was thinking that maybe we don’t realise how future technologies like AI, IoT and Big data Analytics are going to change our lives. Just had a thought experiment the other day. Suppose every person is provided with an AI as a 24x7 assistant. We wouldn’t need to remember anything for exams then. We would’ve more free time to spare. The mode of gaining knowledge would change from learning ourselves to teaching to AI assistant. The Big Data will guide us to choose an appropriate career option or any other major decision of our lives, based on past data and personality traits(just like the sorting hat in the Harry Potter movie). The army personnel armed with such advanced technologies and tackling many on-battle issues and factors simultaneously (like in the Iron man movies). Similarly, industries using such technologies to equip its workers to work with more efficiency. The economists using large data to calibrate macro economic policies effectively. Lawyers and judges in courts presenting and analysing arguments in a better way. Etc etc.

@sstarrr  welcome. Hope you gave your best in mains. Aapme Pratibha hai, aap nikal lijiyega. Khub mann lagake padhai kijiye (Panchayat dialogue :p)

I’m also thinking of focusing on csat part. I’ve lost the practice of these things. This time in CSAT, could not manage my time effectively. Every now and then I am like, I could’ve avoided that mistake, or could’ve attempted 1 more question or could’ve attempted more question of that topic etc etc. I had attempted total 44 questions, 28 aptitude (22 correct), rest Comprehension and 0 reasoning, due to paucity of time. Need to allocate ample time to these also.

@huck  I’ve also attended a week of Training camp (during college time  as part of curriculum). It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I had seen a major change in my everyday routine. There was more discipline and punctuality after that.

Just to mention here, I saw the same name Naadan Parinda in comment section of National Interest video of The Print YouTube Channel. That’s not me. I wonder why someone is using the similar name with similar spelling. I think I should change my display name here, and use the original name.

Also, to clarify, I don’t have any other social media presence with the name Naadan Parinda. I am not an influencer or anything. Nor a paid employee. I’m just an aspirant.

Nahi achieve hue targets. Let’s call the day a rest day.

Talked to my parents for hours.

Changing my morning routine from tomorrow onwards. Brisk walk. Get fresh. Attempt aptitude and reasoning questions. Then newspaper. Taking a break from reading books.

Dropped the idea of changing my display name here.

@TomShelby @iphoole Vivek sir’s books have all the necessary topics an aspirant needs to know. I found his around 500 question compilation just before prelims very helpful. His telegram channel is also good if you follow the daily news from it.

There were 2 editorials on Economy today in The Hindu, which I thought raised important issues.

Currently many start ups are growing mainly in services sector. And again these start ups are over valued, forming a bubble. The two articles highlighted the urgent need of capital investment.

The most famous example of bubble is Tulip mania in Netherlands (1936-37). Such speculation markets should also be regulated.

Also,a side talk- S Jaishankar is such a fine fellow. He will probably go down as one of the most influential MEA in the annals of India's diplomatic history.I bet that 10-20 years down the lane, books will be written on his legacy.

S Jaishankar is also my favourite. He calls spade a spade.

It reminds me of Dinkar’s one line (from Kurukshetra):

@Naadan_Parinda I can totally relate bro,  because this shaadi wala conversation happens every alternate day at my home, and it ends with a conflict.
But, at the end as you said Zidd hai ab paper nikalnaa. Ab paper chahiye toh chahiye. This reminds me of a song. The line goes "zidd hai ab toh hai khud ko mitaana, hona hai tujh mein fannaa.." ab bas yahi Krna hai.!

Btw, i appreciate your decision of being bold and selfish for a moment and making huge difference in your life. All the best Man.. !

And Thanks bro...🤝

I like Amir Khan‘s Sarfarosh more than Fana. 😄

Achieved 100% targets.

 Also watched PS-1.

@mightyraju I find it difficult to search movies on Telegram. They redirect many times to other channels and there find no video.

@Tina1997 I had watched a review, where they mentioned that the names and dynasties are complex. I thought, I needed to read about names and dynasties in depth just like Game of Thrones. However, I found it very easy and simple.

@RiRi  follow @ mightyraju advice.

@mightyraju Exactly. Pluralism is what makes this country beautiful.

@Lawstice   I’m not that well read. I just observe things. Kitna kuchh hai padhne ko, janne ko.

Waise aap dono “kontempt” ko code word de rakhe ho, right? I was confused 😄

I had a doubt. Recent event in MH, where all the opposition parties withdrew in an election. Is this constitutionally moral? I mean is this a feudal system, where an area is just gifted to a person? Isn’t it that, in a democracy, people’s will should be above all.

Considering it a rest day.

@mightyraju I agree with you. There should be some objective criteria and exam. I was talking about proportional representation from every region, caste, gender etc. Currently, in the name of reservations, only elite and some caste groups have occupied the posts in other fields. “Equals should be treated equally”.

I get you, bhai. Also,I abstain on speaking on Reservations since it evokes too much emotions on both the sides and when emotions are high, common sense goes for a toss.

Also,Tories expected a Margaret Thatcher in Liz Truss, only to be disappointed later. Also,BBC reported that Conservative MPs are on their way to Guwahati under the leadership of Rishi Shinde!

Got it 👍 Mai bhi sochta hun ki iss badbolepan me kahi mai hi na phas jaoon. Should avoid such discussion on public platform.

Back here after days of rest. Had caught fever, probably because of seasonal changes.

Me: Hum theek hain.

Also, thinking of digital detox. Not finding posting targets here very helpful. I’m thinking of using Notion. If anyone could give some ideas on how to best utilise it. Earlier I was using Evernote. But shifted to pen and paper format completely.
