@nerdfighter it's nothing like this. It's all about who was lucky in those 3 hours, no college is any less privileged. Also, someone shouldn't think like this. Impacts self-confidence and respect in future. Trust me, any student can give a tough fight to even a best-ranked college student.

I hope I'm not sounding otherwise, I just didn't know how to react to your reply. :3

Since so many people are discussing podcasts here, any recommendations for philosophical podcasts.
Something jo Essay aur ethics mei kaam aaye?
 :)

Philosophize This was a good intro to philosophy for me.

BBC has loads of nice podcasts, I came across one called Moral Maze on Spotify, and having now listened to most of its episodes, I think it’s one of the best ethics podcast out there. They debate controversial issues and have people with different perspectives over for a chatter. It’s quite entertaining and fiery at times.

Vision IAS Value Added Material but selectively not cover to cover + Vision Mains 365. Use PYQs to guide you on what to read in these sources.

Read society class 12th ncert, you can find many good pointers from here and few pyq were picked right from its paragraphs.

complement it with any topper's notes and google "__keyword___ upsc", you'll have your society ready.

Good wishes everyone ! I have one doubt regarding framework of answer writing for below mentioned question which came in GS Paper 3 in 2020 mains.

Discuss different types of cybercrimes and measures required to be taken to fight the menace.ʉ۬(10 marks)

Framework 1 :

-Define cybercrime(1-2 lines) + one line of some data on increase of cyber crime today

-why increase in cyber crime -3 points using arrow.

-types of cybercrime (around with 1-2 lines explanation )

Impact of cybercrime-3 points using arrow.

Measures required : 5single line points

Conclusion

Framework 2(bang on answer)

-Define cybercrime(1-2 lines) + one line of some data on increase of cyber crime today

-types of cybercrime (around 8with 1-2 lines explanation )

Measures required : 8single line points

Conclusion

In FW 1

Pros :  I m writing a comprehensive answer covering multiple dimensions.

Cons: writing things which r not asked explicitly

-      It will take more time also.

-      I m writing only 5 points in types of crimes and measures whereas in FW 2 I m writing 8 points in both sub parts explicitly asked.

My query is which Framework is more scoring as per your experience of answer writing.

It’s a commom issue I think most of us faced whenever we face a relatively easy question where we have too many generic and specific points and we want to bombard answer with all info related to question.

I never thought I will ever meet a person who knew about Pulliyabaazi, and The Seen and The Unseen (TSAU). TSAU, is an favourite of mine, and I got bitten by this drug in 2020 January. Have almost listened to all of his" 420"="" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/9kNXfU3rJDE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="click me to listen). It totally blew my mind. And I was immediately interested in socio linguistics. Linguistics pe koi suggestions hai to zaroor batana.

@SergioRamos these podcasts are kind of intermix of politics, economics, behaviour science, history, sociology, and obviously public policy, with an Indian perspective. For example- You can browse the amazing catalogue of the The Seen and The Unseen, and to quote Arvind Subramaniam who said "right now one is not considered as an public intellectual in India, until s/he appears on TSAU". I will highly recommend you to@Villanelle and@nerdfighter in case you ever thought wish there was a compilation of books suggested during the episodes of TSAU-

I see linguistics, and I think Chomsky :P that’s how much I know about it. Aside from Chomsky’s work, Crash Course has a playlist on Linguistics no? Might be worth checking out.

The Pansycast & Philosophize this. Both will sort of help.

Philosophize This has become one of my absolute favourites. I will now check out The Pansycast also.

If you can get your hands on Smriti Shah ma'am's classes, that's the best. I borrowed them from a friend who's a Vision IAS student.

Her class notes + Mains 365 for current issues are more than sufficient.

@ArchAngel96dont burden urself with many resources for society.. kyunki exam mein question unpredictable hi aane hai.. what you can is that make standard notes for topics like regionalism - definition, background ( linguistic reorganisation of states, ) causes of regionalism its pro n cons causes can be further dived into socio, ecomic, geogarphic causes etc.... some current issues north east states issues of bodoland etc.. woh vision ki monthlies mein mil jyga ..same do for globalisation, communalism etc.. books . ncert sociology ki padh lo 11th n 12th waali, vision ka value added padh lo .. isse jyada jrurt nhi h you can answer based on this..

Phew.... Took some days but finally went through all the posts of the last one week.

From caste and gender discussion of TVF Aspirants to the nuanced observations regarding reservations , it was a very good learning experience.

PS : Very happy to know there are more people who listen to the Seen and Unseen podcast of Amit Varma

Is there any online platform/app where we can post out daily targets and track them through the day as we go on completing them, allong with other people preparing for CSE???
I am currently using hours platform but it is not fruitful without other people and there is no social accountability.

Maybe you all have already watched it. Or maybe I am watching it for the first time. Or Maybe I am new entrant to the 'potterworld', as they like to call themselves. Or maybe I was just feeling bit low when I stumbled upon this short and sweet speech of J K Rowling.

Whatever maybe the reason for my excitement might be- I found this worth sharing with you all. There are many powerful quotes spilled here and there throughout the 20 mins you will invest into this video.

"There is an expiry date for blaming your parents for steering you in wrong direction.

The moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies with you."
