Talk about Shallow Articles. Proper Uncle level post-dinner walk arguments.
The problem with the general attitude is that to sound intellectual, everybody says reforms needed. But only a few have the intellectual depth to suggest how. This article is devoid of that. No data, no comparative analysis anything.
One of the "key reforms" mentioned is to make 2-year work experience compulsory for applying. A country where 90% work is in the informal sector and rampant unemployment prevails. Plus, how hard is it to forge a work XP. certificate In the informal sector.
This is why journalism is losing badly. Too many average minds entering, who measure their intellectual depth not by hours of research, but by retweets.

I will strongly suggest "Everybody loves a good drought " by P. Sainath. I have read that book once and it's awesome. Tells you the ground realities of India. P. Sainath is one of the best minds in India when it comes to agriculture. You can also see some of his YouTube lectures .
Short summary of evolution can be found anywhere but for proper understanding history of agriculture, I don't think any mainstream book will do justice to this topic. If you are interested you can read some proper academic books on History of Indian economy.

@12432TrivendrumRajdhani thanks for A Rural Manifesto, it has been lying there unread for a year by now.
Try,
- Everyone loves a good drought
- Poor Economics
Recommending these as Agriculture in general - being associated with Rural India & Poverty, and others.
Thanks@Usain_bolt @Rambo93 @Just_restless
Have read ELAGD and Poor Economics recently. Agreed entirely on ELAGD :) Poor Economics too was a very good study of poverty.

I remember when this book was published, Sriram Sir of Sriram IAS Institute said he will read it and update his notes from this book.
After two weeks, he came and said book is amazingly wonderful but he is not sure if Feroze Varun Gandhi has written it :D
@whatonly I have troubled you so many times with my stupid questions that now you telling me thanks feels a bit weird 😃
I used ratta last time in 9th and 10th like around 10 years ago and whatever I have done later on in my life, never required rote learning.
My optional already has lot of things which I need to rattafy and I am not able to do that satisfactorily. And now I am realising need to rattafy in GS too ? What all I need to rattafy ? data? committee ? what else ? as already it is huge size. And if i am not seeing it month later, definitely I am going to forget.
On a lighter note
might be useful for essay

This is a brilliant read!
However, it’s quite dated since it came out nearly 25 years ago if I’m not mistaken. Also, it’s not limited to agriculture. If you want to really delve deep into the topic and have a more holistic picture, I would recommend the Dalwai panel report. It’s daunting in size, but there is a lot that you can skip. :)
This news made me sad. Unfortunately, civil services are still seen as legacy of colonial era with elitist mindset and lack of respect for common citizen. More incidents are alsocoming
I hope aspirants among us who clear this exam won't indulge in this kind of behavior.
While nothing can justify the collector's behavior, I felt that the humongous pressure and frustration of handling Covid had a huge role in making him behave like that.

I have heard about this report only in mock MCQs and paper columns. Never bothered to go in much detail. However, now given the postponement I will try to skim through its contents.
Thanks for the suggestion bhai😊
