@Qoqo I am very motivated to be more disciplined for my studies by observing your posts here even till last day of prelims (silent observer since a month).
I will give attempt in 2021. This year didnt gave because of state services.
My best wishes that you clear this year with good rank. Thank you.
Also want to thank and wish@Patootie @HotBloodPrince @whatonly @SergioRamos @whatonly @Sherkhan1428 @AzadHindFauz @Sadhika And all others.
May you all succeed in this exam and in life.
You all have helped me in being motivated for studies.
This forum is great.
Same :( I think going forward it would be good to maintain notes on a selected few current affairs topics that can be updated from newspapers.
Exactly.
Sir (in my limited understanding) for mains we can identify some issues which are potential questions for this year and prepare them holistically. This is where newspaper helps.
Some imp issues are:
1) Agricultural reforms- As bills are in news
2) Women safety and caste politics
3) Police and judicial reforms
4) Black hole- Noble prize given
5) Role and scope of Free speech in democracy
6) Banking reforms
7) Future of globalisation
And you can continue this list....
Hope this helps :)
Thank you so much!! I could only find the daily The Hindu news analysis videos on their YouTube though - are there separate topic-based ones?
List of Articles - DNS, May 2019- Aug 2020.pdf
DNS LINK January 2018 to May 2019.pdf
Right, so this is the index of all the articles that have been discussed from Jan 2018 onwards till Prelims 2020. I think this is possibly one of the most comprehensive indices of all relevant current affairs issues, simply because it comes from the average newspaper. They've included links to all their videos as well, article-wise. PDF links to their daily notes are also available on Youtube. The notes are usually of a good quality, but I don't recommend reading all of it, simply because the point behind this is maximising efficiency, and making best use of time. However, where necessary, snippets from the PDFs can be added on to your notes.
You'll need to do a bit of digging from within the index, and identify the topics you would choose to do. You would also need to be proactive in adding points not discussed to add value to your answer. But I think, if one can do that, and effectively prepare the important ones, preparation would be more holistic rather than doing them straight from a Mains 365.
Pro-tip:Watch the videos at 1.5-2.0 x speed depending on necessity.
@Patootie Man you are a Gem.
Thank you for helping us.
By your motivational posts, Mains strategy (your bunch of thoughts), and this current affairs thing.
Lots of best wishes for your mains exam from my side. :)

@Patootie Bro please reply my DM when you get time.
The forum 2021 session yesterday was an eye opener.
The most important takeaway was follow the exam calendar. Prepare for MAINS now.
So, Today I will prepare broad MONTHLY targets for next 3 months and convert them into WEEKLY targets, to fix resources, subjects and topics to be done till december.
And start implementing my plan from tomorrow.
(I need to balance UPSC 2021 and State PCS mains syllabus till December)
Have a great day Friends.

Failure is not fatal bro, its the courage to continue that matters.
we both in our 4th attempt know this well. Keep going. State ka mains gaya hai toh center ka mains pel do. Dikkat ki kahan baat hai.🙌
P.s. vaise toh ye hindi aur english ke quotes kuch mahan logon ne likhe hai, par maine whatsapp pe padhe the. 😁
Keep going bro. Best wishes.
Doland Trump Sir,Aap Twitter se WhatsApp par kab nirbhar hue?

Could finish only about 50 percent of my targets.
Need to be more focused from tomorrow.
'DISCIPLINE IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOOD AND GREAT.'
So, looks like I am not the only one struggling to complete targets.
Only somehow finished one topic of optional today. (that too without doing PYQ).
Now I have got a good idea (thanks to @Tara16 ) to go slow and absorb the topics well to get going initially.
Will also try to optimize my study sessions as per my needs (thanks to @whatonly 's tips).
So target for 16/10 :--
Just try to do:
1) all questions on Plato and Aristotle
2) Newspaper + Essay
3) Use rest of the time to revisit my plan for next couple of months and make necessary changes acc. to reality.
Have a great day friends.
@Qoqo Congrats And Best Wishes

Biden is coming, wait for it.
Yes. High Chances bro.
Could complete only half of it. UPSC told me no need to study more, ever. It was my second and agewise last attempt.
No regrets. Gave my all. Was in full warrior mode with my notes, short notes, audio revisions. There was uncertainty regarding prelims, but I deliberately cultivated the virtue of performing amidst uncertainty. Was almost successful. Life has it's own turns.
The people on this thread have been super inspiring. After the results, everyone in my family was so happy. May be they wanted to cheer me up. Now back to wife and life.
I love my current job a lot too. Jitne armaan Hain, jarur niklenge.
All the best to forum people. Give your best. Keep your options open. Have a great life.
This prep made me revive my good habits of pranayam, meditation, controlling mind chatter. The skills learnt will be extremely useful. Chapter closed. Logging out.
Sarve sukhinah bhavantu, sarve santu niramaya! May we we all realize the true purpose of our lives.
I am feeling very sad for you Brother.
Be HAPPY and PROUD , Do good in your job and life.
There are many ways to contribute to the society.
Best wishes for your future.

@Hitman2021 better would bhai IAS HOLO ( in bengali 😂)
Yes. Its great. Thanks.
@HotBloodPrince May his soul rest in peace. Stay Strong dost.
Dear friends
Just wanted to reiterate thatIt's all matter of few more weeks, and few moredense study sessions. Those 'nearing' the finish line can in no time be out of the race, and those who might think are no where in the race, may turn the table upside down, provided if they utilise the fraction of potential they posses, but are unable to utilise mainly because of the fear of the unknown.
Zyada se zyada kya hoga? Selection nahi hoga. Bus itni si baat?
None of you writing mains is dumb.
None of you writing mains will 'unsucced' in life.
None of you writing mains will die of hunger, or of joblessness.
Believe me, this exam isdesigned to test your anxiety, frustration, desperation, mental health, and your character.
And believe me, many of those, who might be not privileged as us, are cracking it every year. The only thing is ki there stories are not floating in the air. How many of selected candidates you know? One? Two? Three? Ten? That's too less to be considered as a sample size. There are hundreds of selection every year, and it is beyond anyone's capability toseethese humble, faceless, toppers, who may not find any place in the glam sham of media frenzied interviews, and those biased topper's talk. Believe me, it is among this lot, the majority of junta lies. And this lot is bahut had tak just like you.
Writings mains is no menial feat, though it is not the final destination, but you all will appreciate its indeed a confidence booster.Maintain the confidence. Appreciate that ho saqta hai agle saal ye mauka bhi na miley.
I am not an expert. In fact not a prelims expert for that matter. But, do this exercise-write 150 words in the replica of UPSC answer sheet.Saari chinta melt ho jayegi. Yes, it just needs quality 150 words which will fetch you marks.
With the risk of sounding noob, idealist, first timer, etc (nevertheless) yahi kehnaa hai aap sab se kiho jayega. Sabka exam niklega.

Words of Wisdom, indeed......Each point mentioned is very true.
It is NOT Befaaltu Gyan at all.
Many candidates may be going through this same tough phase presently.
Thankyou@12432TrivendrumRajdhani For writing this.
I wish that you get the opportunity to write mains in 2021 and use your wisdom to the best of your advantage in mains. You deserve that.
You share gold standard knowledge here. Thank you. All the best.
@Hitman2021Bhai anyone tell me in how manner the topic as well as pages have to read in a day ,i want to start and get appear 2022 exam
I convert my monthly targets to weekly and daily topics to be covered.
It depends on the reading speed and daily study hours also.
So you can also try to focus on topics to be done daily. For that prepare your timetable and convert it to weekly and daily targets.
I try to study minimum 2 subjects daily and newspaper.
For 2022, you have time, so prepare a broad strategy (for optional + GS and sources for them)and then start your studies.
