Pardon= Ba-izzat bari kia jaata hai; all charges are absolved.

Commute= Changing the nature of the sentence, for example converting death sentence into life sentence, or life sentence into 20-30 years of imprisonment.

Remit= Reducing the time of the punishment. ex- If initially you were jailed for 15 years, after remitting, you may be jailed for 5 years ...

Respite= Changing/reducing the sentence in case of special cases, like pregnant women, old aged, physically challenged etc.

Suspend= Holding on for some time, so that the convict can in the meantime try out other forms of appeals etc.

that means remit = remission and reprive = suspend ??

-If the question asks whether the VP is a part of Parliament: No he isn’t

-If the question asks if the Chairman is a member of the house: No he isn’t

-If the question asks whether the Chairman is a part of the Parliament: Maybe correct

the chairman is member or part of parliament and how to classify what is part or what is member??

2.4k views
@THE_MECHANIC like Speaker is a member, Deputy Chairman is a member, President is not a member but a part of Parliament. The only reason I wrote ‘maybe correct’ is because it’s debatable. In strict terms, if you’re asked what constitutes Parliament: President, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. If you’re asked whether VP is a part of Parliament then it’s a straight no. But if we’re asked if Chairman is a part: it’s ambiguous because he does perform some essential parliamentary functions largely in line with what the Speaker does (who is a part of parliament by virtue of him being a member). Also the current VP’s website does mention that the Chairman is a part but I haven’t found any other official source stating the same. Additionally, since he isn’t a member of any of the houses you could say he isn’t a part of the Parliament.
Honestly I don’t think we should be pondering so much on whether the chairman is a part or not. Almost definitely it won’t be asked and if it is I’ll go by what all sources say: he isn’t since Parliament = President+RS+LS

thanks bhai "the last line make much sense to me " ..........keep it simple :p

@Shailputribecause tropical region gets more direct sunlight, whereas poles gets slanted sun light. Hence more sunlight means more UV rays too. Also there's no sunlight on poles for 6 months so naturally UV will be lower there.

by this there should be more on poles

2.7k views
@THE_MECHANIC between tropics and pole, there should be more on tropics (reason explained above). Within either tropic or pole, areas of higher altitude has more incoming UV as compared to lower areas.

bhai vo to theek h pr isme ese bola h na ki jada clouds jaha honge vaha km UV hogi pr poles pr to equator se km clouds h

2.8k views
@THE_MECHANIC bhai clouds ka sawal tb aayega na jb sunlight aayegi. 6 mahine sunlight nhi rhegi plus baaki time slanted aayegi toh cloud ho ya naa ho, kya frk pdega ? Equator pr hi zyada UV giregi kyuki direct sunlight aati hai waha throughout year.

ohkkkkkk now more clear

Second option is given incorrect. Can anyone explain why?

During war , no update to your citizenship status can be made . Clearly given in Laxmikant. Even if u wanna apply , you have to wait till war is over .

But it's also written that If we found unlawfully traded and communicated with enemy during a war ...led to losing our citizenship Although the option does not say about this but may be some context what do you say ??

How to handle questions like this one here?
Is it mentioned anywhere or should I just ignore it as a bouncer question thrown by UPSC?

c?

For 1- charaka and sushruta were alive before. They were surgeons. So there must be specialised instruments.

For 2- Internal organ transplant today is very tricky, imagine that time. Not probabale.

3- I think I read somewhere aryabhatta did.

4- I think bhaskaracharya did.

Plus, if you eliminate 2 and know 1 is correct, no need to know 3 and 4.
