We could start with few pertinent PYQ and then move on to contemporary topics, will be good strategy to build geography base via Q&A format

I like this. Yes to this! I see a lot of economic geography questions in recent years and I have little to no idea to handle this.

I feel naked sharing a descriptive geography answer, but what the hell.

This is to the Storm surge question.

3. Recently, Cyclone Nisarga hit landfall on the western Coast of India in an extremely rare event. In light of the same, explain why tropical cyclones are generally rare and less destructive if they occur in the Arabian sea as opposed to the Bay of Bengal.

Adding questions in the Description as well.

Short answeris here:

The Bay of Bengal sees approximately five times as many cyclones as its Western counterpart. In addition, cyclones in the Bay are stronger and deadlier. And what’s more, nearly58% of cyclones formed in the Bay of Bengal reach the coast as compared to only25% of those formed in the Arabian Sea.

  • The Bay of Bengal is a more likely target because:
    • It gets higher rainfall, and the sluggish winds around it keep temperatures relatively high: about 28 degrees around the year. Warm air currents enhance this surface temperature and aid the formation of cyclones.
    • In addition, the Bay receives higher rainfall and constant inflow of fresh water from the Ganga and Brahmaputra rivers. This means that the Bay’s surface water keeps getting refreshed, making it impossible for the warm water to mix with the cooler water below, making it ideal for depression.
    • On the other hand, the Arabian Sea receives stronger winds that help dissipate the heat, and the lack of constant freshwater supply helps the warm water mix with the cool water, reducing the temperature.

Shabbir sir on his YouTube channel has put some really good videos for industrial location point. Though it doesn't cover all the industries some basic ones are holistically covered. Alternatively, pmfias notes are also good but some industries are still remaining.

For Geogrpahy, vision ias mock solutions do a great job. They can actually be revised for exam directly. If possible go through them once.

Hey, thank you so much for this.

Do you know where I can get the Vision Ias mock solutions? You are a lifesaver.
