Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.
@Charlie_CharlieCompulsory licencing is not directly linked with traditional knowledge. Foreign pharma can develop drug and exploit patent laws, but how does that affect traditional knowledge if they are doing research in their own country.
@Ravsnot sure.. but it’s a case study for 20 marks.. 4 pages space.. better to be more elaborative n fill at least 3-3.5 pages..
But if ur content is rich 1.5 pages will get u marks on similar lines..
@Charlie_Charliemost of your points like evergreening, generic medicine, utility patents are not correct, as question is direct such direct wrong answer may create bad impression.
i wrote indian patent act which prohibit patenting things already present in nature or tk, cbd nagoya bd act 2002, local biodiversity register and tkdl.
i had tk in my 7th semester under heading traditional medicine and pharmacognosy hence knew very detailed answer but resisted myself to write technical things and wrote govt steps only.
@pysh12950pros and cons of each option are must
@pysh12950merit and demerit of both options are must for good marks
@sat_009the main points were
Patent registration and iprs
@Raja123tk does not qualify as invention under indian patent act, plz have a look at this, have worked in local biodiversity committee as intern for mukne mam university of mumbai

patent registration worldwide is limited and biopiracy is reduced due to tkdl and cbd nagoya etc
@Ravslast yr i wrote none of the case studies beyond 2 pages still scored decent mrks
@Shubztussi great ho bhai..
Content me dum hoga tumhare
@sat_009sirf tkdl likh k aya hu
@Haeckeltkdl details me likha ho agar to 30 40 percent marks expect kijiye
@bevancomDoes UPSC rewards different answers?
@sat_009brother, I was sure of traditional knowledge library, CBD(2002),Patent act/licensing Biopiracy/prospecting in that question. But that was not suffice for 15marks I guess. So I used all related stuffs to fill the pages. Don't know if it will work or not, but I personally believe better to write than leave blank.
I was happy after attempting the papers.Attempted all in all papers.But after reading people's answers here I feel I won't even get 50 marks in each people.
Has anybody felt the same in earlier years and still managed to get through mains?(for those who wrote mains in previous years and then discussed answers post mains)
@Charlie_Charlietraditional knowledge me evergreen and compulsary licensing ??
@Charlie_CharlieCbd nagoya bd act tkdl tkrc etc fill 3 pages becoz you have to write all these in sufficient details including their structure to get good marks,
in my opinion, you will get marks for what u have written right for rest you will not be penalised but wont be awarded marks for wrong content especially if u have written in point format
@bevancomeverybody thinks and write differently thats the beauty of upsc, the core aspects of answer must not be tampered with if you have written core points examiner is asking u will get marks for sure no matter what the discussion is about there are various questions like globalisation secularism culture indias changing image inclusive growth where every answer will be different but in questions like traditional knowledge food processing cyberdome visweshrya there cant be much variation.
@sat_009style of writing may differ but content almost remains the same if u really want to address the ques.....i think if u differ with majority eithrr u get too high or too low
