@dancingminionI think you can write innovative subheadings..

We can be a little innovative in our subheadings. Instead of bland subheadings such as ‘Benefits of Nuclear Energy’ we can use “Nuclear Energy: Promise or Peril?’ Similarly, for the essay on Social Media, instead of writing ‘Advantages and Disadvantages of Social Media’, I wrote “Social Media: A Double Edged Sword”

How s a score of 121 in UPSC essay of 2018 and a score of 137 in UPSC 2017?I could not manage time in both of them and ended up giving 1 hr 10 mins for one and 1 hr 50 mins for the other.

@Pantheoni think 137 is good, 121 just not enough. 1 hour 10m is just enough if the other one (1h50m) is stellar.

does anyone here write essay not beginning with a quote/anecdote (not counting historical or scenes from classic literature as anecdote). I find it very cliched, however anudeep durishetty's essays in vision tests started with a quote and he got great marks.

whatever floats your boat bro. if you are a good storyteller, an imaginary anecdote can be a good way to start. however, i also find this method to be overused.. just my opinion. can start with a poem/conversation

guys I mistankingly made a stray mark outside margin , I was holding my pen and paper turned due to air and a small line got made cutting across margin , will it result in penalty?
