Now that 1 week is over, it is time to shift focus to Mains. With barely 103 days left there is no time to waste.

Things we do just to get info on result. Never would I have thought that I would personally go to CAT website and check there. But definitely did learn some things though. I was not aware that there is such thing where non party can see case history in online as well as future timetable for other cases.

@AzadHindFauzI don't think that's the correct interpretation. Right here means right to challenge in the court of law. Many petitioners have been converted to ur from ews and hence they have challenged that decision. Nobody has been denied any opportunity to compete in ur category, so I don't think there is much difference between those two categories of students.

Suppose you are a DC/DM of a hill district (where tourists also come) which has seen a spike in road accidents ;A major accident was of a private tourist vehicle (in commercial tourists vehicle the DL need to be hill endorsed but that is not the case with the private vehicle drivers)
Moreover some major accidents happened in remote areas where regular enforcement is not possible.

what measures will you take ?

@TeddyWestside
1.Improve quality of roads ie having railings on the side, increasing number of bays for vehicles to stop to let other vehicles pass!

2.Also,only trained drivers must be allowed to drive tourist vehicles in difficult terrain which may also help find employment to locals

3.Identify the accident prone zones and deploy forces plus increase patrols!

@Ms-dhoniI think that you're missing the fine line here. One set of EWS candidates did not make representation because they qualified on general standards. If you look at this with a different angle, this implies that the different categorization on account of them lacking certain criteria (EWS certificate) was acceptable to them. So, they went ahead and achieved the purpose (wrote the exam). They did not hold anything against the commission. They accepted their fault and the consequent tweak in the terms.

The other set of candidates were denied the opportunity to write the exam. This set challenged the decision because in their opinion they were not at fault and they did not accept the tweaked terms. A roadblock (cancellation of candidature) in achieving the purpose (mains exam) was seen as infringement and hence, was challenged in the tribunal.

Till now, the first set of candidates is okay. Both parties (them and UPSC) conceded to arrive at an acceptable position. But, if the second set is given relief, this would amount to treating the same set of people in two different manners. Thus, if second set wins, the people from the first set who make representation stating that they are eligible for benefits accorded to the second set by the tribunal can also get benefits. Obviously, in that case, they must be fulfilling the criteria laid down by the tribunal regarding cut-off date.

@AzadHindFauzbhai I know this line. But I m saying many from first set are also petitioners. If not many, one or two for sure. They threw my out of their tg group when I refused to contribute to their cause.

@Ms-dhoniI have no knowledge of such representations being made in CAT yet. I have been following this matter very closely. Could you let me know the case number?

@Ms-dhoniAlways nice to talk to you☺

@AzadHindFauzI cannot. Admin of that group interacted with me and said that he is qualified in ur category and hence seeking relief. Peace brother, u are most probably right. I just said what he told to me.

@TeddyWestsideIn the aforementioned case, few things are notable:

  • That the district has good tourist footfall=>revenue is/could be generated, local charges/taxes levied
  • Increase in road accidents, in which private tourist vehicle form a major share
  • Enforcement issue in remote parts

Solutions:

  • The private tourist vehicles could be asked to register and get their drivers trained at a nominal fee(a local driving school could be roped in)
  • small barricades and adequate measures(like reflecting mirror)could be used
  • The remote areas(with major accidents) could be monitored by a CCTV, if not possible, surprise checks i every alternate day could be taken up
  • The private operators need to be taken into confidence as it is their business which would get affected by increased accidents

@Ms-dhoniOr might be the case that they have filed it just recently. There were no such people in the last hearing.
