@Dijkstrayea man gone are those days when paper khtam krna was a big deal , now one has to give quality content + finish in time each and every question
@Vikasaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
organic writing
haha bhai I am hearing this term for first time , upsc mein kafi gyani log h funda dene wale specially at the last moment
jab 3 ghante mein har question mein 7 se kam minute milte h tab organic , inorganic synthetic kuch yaad nai rehta jo dimag mein aa jaye and jaisa structure baith jaye .
@harsh12345agree bhai I did bad in my essay because of overthinking did it like other gs papers , I still feel less confident in attempting philosophical essays
@harsh12345thanks bhai , I too attempted same but I think my structure and flow was not good hence low marks , this time I will keep it simple as you have said
@harsh12345bro you must have got all india highest in essay !
@harsh12345said inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
PRI
very good points , reasoning simple rakhne se hi marks milte h yani
@harsh12345all the best aapko bhi!!
@Akbar_Birbalsaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
I never got above 90-92 in forum tests this year , someone told me kanishka katariya used to get 67 marks in vision test if that is true i will pray my luck strikes too in GS at-least lol
@ManchesterUnitedbro she left me and got married to a guy in services lol its sad and funny at the same time hehe
@dancingminionyr maine primary health and education and values wale p likha h , muje achi feeling toh aa rahi thi likh k but i know ki jab discussion hoga toh galtian malum padegi
@dancingminionaapka kaisa hua and kaunse likhe?
@BabaYagasaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
bhai maine yahi likha national food security ne easy access kara dia but health mein oout of pocket expense , baki subsidies ka rationalization is diverting spend wahan
@Rand_Al_Thorhaan yr every year same story -" insight secure covered all , damn shit why I am not writing mains , so easy paper"
@STbhai I am with you , society and kuch geography k questions were tough people generally see some terms and say answer ata h , but society questions could really pull score down. only solace was history questions which made it this one tad bit easier but not much
@STbro happens every time each question was tricky water stress how and why regionally different its not easy to answer , insight pe junta jyada uchalte h dont worry , and always mains paper seems easier to ones who have not given
@ManchesterUnitedyep bro same here divided in regions and wrote some points like geography related stress in west (less rainfall etc) , arsenic and fluroide pollution in south and east in excessive ground water depletion in north west in addition to general points under each region . not very confident though
@dancingminionhaan bhai main EC , high court yahi likha but even yeh bhi pura sahi nai h
@ManchesterUnitedI wrote on public sector - private sector and civiil society ( ngo - shg etc) linkages
@chandler_bingI felt I lack content in many
@Dijkstrayes man i got average marks last year i feel i wrote better answers last year , totally rando this gs
@dancingminionhaha yea mostly revolved around public service , probity corruption sab ek jaise questions
@Dijkstraohh I only wrote one sided inflation and steady growth k effects shit man should have gone for both the sides
@Biryanimafia_hahaahhahaha bilkul sahi description
@quantumsaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
responsibility
very well put , view based questions though look easy are very dicey , plus I felt it was tough because multiple approaches could have been put for . same ans
@LostWell according to me
- GS1 : More modern history than last year so easy in this sense , but equally ambiguous society and 1-2 ambiguous in geography so overall slightly easier than last year
- GS2 : very less from laxmikant or hot topic/judgements etc , governance question were of pub ad optional level very very tough than last year, also international relation question were not straightforward
- GS3: again ambiguous question , fringe topics both were more than last year at-least I felt so . ek do lollypops the like GST , UAPA wgrh but still tough paper
- GS4 : not sure what is the use of case study section ? anyhow found it direct and somewhat similar to last year in format esp those quotations wale questions
Overall - found it tougher than last year , was much better prepared this year , as someone said about the feeling after exam I knew I have made guesswork in some of the questions and was not sure whether my thinking was in right direction
@Valar_morghulis
jisne yeh sab likha hoga examiner khush
effective laws which require civil servants to give reasons for their official
decisions, (for example: a Freedom of Information law);
• management approaches which encourage all public officials and civil servants to
deal positively with corruption and unethical practice when they encounter it.
• ‘whistleblower’ protection law to protect appropriate 'public interest disclosures'
of wrongdoing by officials;
• ethics audits to identify risks to the integrity of the most important processes (for
example financial management, tendering, recruitment and promotion, dismissal
and discipline);
• new Human Resource Management strategies (which link, for example, ethical
performance with entry and advancement, and ethical ‘under-performance’ with
disciplinary processes), merit based promotion and recruitment, antidiscrimination protections;
• training and development in the content and rationale of Ethics Codes, the
application of ethical management principles, the proper use of official power,
and the requirements of professional responsibility, and
• effective external and internal complaint and redress procedures.
@K_9bhai main toh usi link p jo post kiya h neeche wala para copy paste kr diya , haan itna acha aur exact toh koi bhi nai likh sakta
@corrigible_87okay bhai pichli baar se bura gya isiliye thoda jyada dar lag raha tha
@Biryanimafia_yes complilation of previous year questions on vyakaran
@Omenbhai paper 2 mera Bhi acha nai hua, paper 1
Theek hua but tough tha.
I guess Jyada scaling nai hoga Centre p sab tough hi bol Rahe the
@Omenbhai chinta mat Karo sab same boat par hain
@MinatoHaan bhai 400 plus is a very good score papaer
Thoda 2017 jitna jaisa tha, though slight easier than 2017,but very tough
@STbhai 400 ka scale down ho jata h 300 bhi nai bachte
@ST475/500 bhai
@STaap already services mein ho kya?
@Watermaths bhai
@Champakyea toppers and coachings have propagated this
If in their test series you do not write intro and conclusion
They deduct marks hence people start to believe that this is format upsc adhere to. But this time with define and discuss type of keywords I felt much more comfortable in writing as per my wish not necessarily mounding into a rigid format
@K_9yes you right , what i meant was like in in IBC format it is said that in intro you define/present data etc and keep it short
but what if the question itself starts with "define xyz. and discuss the implications"
Now I think it is better to define the term in first para itself ache se because that is what question demands , rather than giving a short intro and then redefining it again in body somehow forcing answer into a structure
@STyr it worked for previous years , now this time upsc changed things a bit , woh bi pak gaye honge har saal ~10K copies same type ka format dekh dekh , essay mein wahi ghise pite stories se shuru hota hue dekh k .
Har cheez ka limit hota h
@STI wrote on similar lines , corruption is both commission and omission of duty so ommission of duty also is corruption .
public servants hold public resources in trust of public and hence not performing duty breaks trust and this is corruption , they have a lot of discretion and implications for social loss if they dont perform their duty , eg . traffic police not regulating traffic could lead to accidents , govt doctor not visiting govt hospital would lead to death of poor people etc .
@Diphe has understood wrong meaning of service sector
Here service sector meant ngo, govt and private sector and not services like It Healthcare etc hence rest assured he is getting less marks in this question
@Yes_I_am_inbhai in any question basic definitions remain the same , opinions and way to answer can be different and the marking on that depends on upsc
You can for your own comfort Google the exact question where you will find a Google book which has given details about cooperation between 3 service sector in Indian context .
Now in governance ka paper if one writes service sectors economy wala then It is not correct in my humble opinion., just as separation of power means a specific thing and should not be interpreted as division of powers within states
@Dipbhai aap kaunse state service mein ho?
Up ka exam iss baar hoga kya any idea?
@Lostbahut Kam tha bhai don't make me as a reference
I got 112,85,99,89,87 in essay to gs4
@Dipoh okay bhai
@Dipokay bhai but last year Muje paper thoda
Doable lag Rahe the iss baar toh Maine analyse
Krna hi chod diya h chill maar Raha hun
@Vickoo_Matre@K_9here is thelink
it has mentioned exact lines and then has went ahead to show some case studies of pvt , ngo , govt collaboration
@K_9bro its futile to argue , ans toh pata nai hi chalega waise bhi mains ka unlike pre
@K_9bro I guess it could mean public , private and voluntary sector also , anyhow maine toh wahi samaj k 2-3 page colour maar diye hehe
https://www.open.edu/openlearncreate/mod/oucontent/view.php?id=81597&printable=1
@dr-ahmednaaz8567haan exactly teeno likhne hain and how dyanmics is changing from wholly public to now private + voluntary ka equal share etc
@Raja123said inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
UPSC does a percentile based normalisation, so that from every subject top 10% ( or some other number) have almost equal marks , hence if some optional has got very low scores and some very high , top 10 percentile of students marks would be so adjusted so that both become nearly same .
it is for the same reason one would observe that
number of students selected / number of students who gave the exam in each subject are nearly same across all the subjects
if you are in top percentile of your optional , dont worry your bad optional score would not be a disadvantage
@STbro I disagree it's tough to be in in top 10%
Of 10 people which is only 1 whereas somewhat
Easier to be in top 10% of 100 which is 10
Lesser number of people taking an optional means
Higher competition as they will be taking it only when they
Are sure of success. That is why I think it is safer to choose
Optional like socio or geo where 3-4K people opt for it
Unless otherwise you are very good in some other optional
@STHaan bro yeh toh sahi Bole aap better prepared less famous
Optional triumphs all
@ranyo_asokaacha likha h bhai aapne
@Hakunah_MatataHaan bhai Sara frustration Nikal jata h
@Jayson_Bournebro go slowI think running and shredding weight can be first objective if you have put on some weight that is
@Hakunah_Matatabro maine toh bus weight loose hi kara h , but i think if you really want to build muscles n all take good amount of protein and carbs and lift weight
@chintanmananacha nai hua bhai maths thoda tough tha
@TeddyWestsidehaan bhai
@TeddyWestsidebhai mera bhi same haal h essay m story daal dia hun optional m phir last year jitne hi aa jayen badi baat h aur competition bhi bhad gya h , kismat ka bahut bada weightage h mere selection m lol
@sat_009bhai aapke sample test series ans copies mil sakte h kya really want to improve my scores in gs
@Champakyep very good ans exactly what should be written
Shabbir sir has posted this
Gm all.
It’s results time. Today or in a day or two.
Just a reminder. Don’t give up. Don’t celebrate.
Accept it with grace. Not indifference.
It’s time to take stock. This could be a Chance to break into big league. Or a chance to redemption , to work on ur gaps and come back stronger.
Some may want to move on.
No stage is final. Move on with grace. Move on wiser. With better resolve. And more fortitude.
Aaj ya kal results???
@vision2020haan yr khatam ho intezar and we can move on with life
@Dreadfulpre 2018 ka came on saturday
@Behemothyea man i know its totally random and unrelated and unscientific but this is what upsc results ka darr does
I checked roll number of guys with maths optional who I know are scoring so high ( in mathematics) that their mains selection is almost certain ( one is already in services)
and both of their roll number are not present .
I checked for one other friend with geo optional presently IRS his roll number is also not present .
Hence within limits of some error I can say this pdf is definitely fake
PS: My roll number is not there so i can be biased
@Omenbhai agar yeh original pdf h tabtoh sahi m dukhi hone ka time aa gya
@Omennot good wont get selected ~110-112 aa rahe , how was yours?
3.The papers of only such candidates falling under EWS have been evaluated who possessed the relevant documents dated before 1st August 2019. The clarification on the status of such candidates have been cleared via mails dated 20th November, 2019, and subsequent correspondence. The candidates are advised to keep the certificates ready.
this line wont have been there in last years pdf so is not copied , does it look like an official line ? while creating a fake would the had made an effort to include this line
@EndGame7said inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
year
that does prove it actually 2017 policy instead of 2018's unless otherwise someone can come up with the logic for same
@K_9okay this was dated 22 not 20th these lines must be copied hence
@Yo_Yo_Choti_Singhhello sir how are you? have your training started ? if it is not too much to ask can you share some of the experiences you had at the academy uptill now, really motivates me reading that kind of stuff !
@StarkHousesaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
Point to ponder.
But, this pdf was available just after fuhrer gave his dot.
It seems results were prepared by then but are getting delayed due to ews issue.
fuhrer's dot came more than a week before in 2018 prelims results and same for this years prelim and mains
also not sure if this is how draft results are stored I mean shouldnt they store it in excel untill it is 100% ready to get uploaded?
if this is the real pdf and it got leaked days before actual results there has been a system breach and upsc should be informed
@Shubzsaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
1577099229447_5_6332462041344770311.pdf
seems like this case is an issue preventig upsc to come out with results
@Shubznew telegram group ? name ?
@NadigVinayyea true that not worth the effort results pe concentrate krte h
@TeddyWestsidedont know about upsc but in every other interview the thing that carries most weightage is your performance in what you were required to do .
eg studies in college while sitting for placements or iim interview , previous job performance while applying for new job .
Hobbies , extra curricular activities are secondary
why are people so concerned about reaching secretary level , isnt the whole point of joining ias to work at grassroots level , ensure proper implementation of policies etc
why worry about a possibility of thing that may or may not happen 20-25 years in future
many people suggest that i should leave preparation as post 27 years I wont be able to make it to top - but to me being DM and working at district level seems more glamorous (at-least for now )
@Malcolmyea maybe , I mean I was suggesting to take 5-6 years of career at a time when planning something as we dont know what is in future .
i feel if we go with mindset that we want to reach at the top would make job a burden less than enjoyment . ifs irs etc would also come with their own experiences at the lower level , if I get selected , after working for 10-15 years I would re-evaluate again whether I would want to continue or move to some other sector( private NGO etc) but thats a headache for the future
@Lastworrieryes you maybe right maybe to me it seems all bright and shiny from outside but it helps me keep motivated also if i start thinking of 20-30 years ahead i tend to loose focus . but you are right human needs change with time
@TeddyWestsidewow man thanks for sharing its awesome, this is exactly what I meant , working in any level of administrative job in india where your work directly affects so many people and where systems and process have so much scope for improvement , there cant be a better place to be atleast for me .
Till date this video of Gaurav Agarwal and the lines he has said - " hum JUSTICE dila sakte h" remains my sole motivating factor of keep on trying for services !
@Shubzbro I have seen that last updated date always is current date because some or the other changes are made daily
@Valar_morghulisif you are travelling alone you can stay at zostel and can meet other fellow travellers from around the world. also if you want to stay in hotel bargain for 30-40% off as this is off season
do go for adventure sports , though I guess rafting would be closed at this point but bungee jumping wgrh would be going on . dont prebook , it would off season so go and bargain
dont eat at chotiwala its not worth the price instead try buddha's cafe and one or two caffe's nearby
@sahanrshetty1875nai bhai koi official news nai aayi h
And min 2021 se lagu hoga agar hua Bhi toh

@kochikaameexact same feeling bro I try to be neutral
Try to make reasons on both side of spectrum but
People are he'll bent on only one side of narrative
No point in doing debates best to remain out of till you find right group
@Phooooosaid inMains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread:
hucksters
@kochikaamejust as we were discussing I read the points being made by this gentleman
@Phooooosome thoughts from my side :
PM Modi most vilified ? Indira Gandhi has been several times potrayed as Hitler ( and for good reasons) there is an entire army of trolls on whatsapp and twitter who can go to lengths to call JN Nehru all sorts of names .
Democracy is rule by consensus strength of democracy should be measured by how well majority and minority were able to have overal and understanding , how well government is able to tag the minorities along with it
Protests are not new , people (student ) protested in 1975 starting JP movement ( eventually establishing morarji desai govt with Jan sangh a key participant ) 2011 people were on streets for IAC . Delhi police was heavily criticised for brutality against Baba Ramdev
Changing narratives to suit ones ideology , calling same entity as divine and helpful when things are flowing in your way and as demons when things are not. Honestly why we should we even debate and fight for these political parties (and loose our peace of mind) - change the time period and one can notice same behaviour by the other when they were in power
If at all you want to do something qualify this exam become civil servant try to make things right
For about 200 vacancies separate exam and ~120 would be generalists 80 would be engineering
what do you guys think?
@Phooooohey man thanks for your well made out reasoning and justification , sorry if you felt I wrote in offending tone , never meant it , all I wanted to say is its all cyclical ,a side in power always does things which they should not do , why then we should become emotional by taking side of one against another (not commenting about you , but people in general ) ) .
Some thoughts :
- I was not trying to reduce your statement to absurdity , I was saying that the leader of our country always has been criticised ( by some groups ) , its nothing new and why to bother even if some people do vilify ? I dont think we can measure vilification and say on a scale of 0 to Mr modi how much are you vilified ?
- Well she did impose emergency , amended constitution at her will and showed several traits of authoritarianism
- it is through dissent and voicing opinions that consensus can be made , without dissent how would we know what different sections are demanding
- true and agree development should not be always sacrificed at the altar of consensus but it doesn't mean that we should not try to arrive at one , all attempts must be made to arrive at most agreeable solution . 100% agreement is not possible to obtain consensus could still be obtained
- Again true but I never said anything about minorities , and how can minorities ensure they are not getting swayed by "mendacious" propaganda - honest ,free press ( which again is an issue now a days)
- dont agree maybe you and I are not finding anything in the act worth protesting for but there are people who are facing discontent and we should hear them out , convince them and if not make changes accordingly .
Anyhow by debating here about these things I am biting my own tail and not practicing what I am preaching . Thanks for great points though
@majormiketangotelegram group se koi khabar?
@AzadHindFauzthanks for sharing this I didnt knew this before
@Kira0705okay now it is final in favour of students
