@Reality-transurfertry attempting ques 11-20 first.
Divide ur time into 3 slots of 1 hr each and set a target for eacb slot.
This technique helped me to increase my speed.

Going by my marks of 2018 i think that they give around 4 mrks for very low quality ans,5-6 mrks for avg quality,7-7.5 mrks for good quality.
@sat_009yup...bt in gs it becomes very difficult to write top quality answers considering the nature of questions and the time limit in which we have to gather all the info...so on an avg i consider 8 mrks.... however in optional our prep lvl is high and the chances are more to encounter a ques similar to the one we have already prepared. Thus it becomes easier to get a 9 in optional thn GS...on the whole the checking pattern of upsc is liberal than that what we encounter in the mocks...

@vvvikas0078212Bhai 9-5 job is manageable if the time limit does not extend beyond 5....where i used to work it was more a 9-9 job on most of the days...plus client support from home if any issue arises....its highly likely to get entangled in such kind of job in an IT sector.
Thus my advise will always be to stay away frm sch kind of workprofile while prep for UPSC

That was my first attempt of upsc...had no idea abt structuring the ans,no writing speed so had to cut short the ans size for a decent attempt. Had directly addressed what's asked in question without doing any cosmetisation.
I know ppl who worked a lot on ethics bt still scored below 70 so we cant be sure abt what upsc actually expects. All the strategies and techniques of ans writing is based purely on speculations of people.

Gs 2- Attempt approx 215 - intl reln ans were avg rest all below avg - marks 75
Gs 3- attempt approx 215-220 - all below avg ans - marks 79
So if u have written avg ans and completed the whole ppr thn expect around 90-95

Everyone has a different approach and there are multiple approaches that yield result....ans writing n all although we can manage without it but doing it wont cause any harm....iss baar ke gs2 ke ppr me ans writing ka kuch khaas fayda nai hua bt jb ppr generic rehta hai toh ans writing definitely helps.
@RagsI wrote same quality answers in optional paper 2 and one gs paper.....same attempt,same writing style,no specific optional ans writing style.... still got 35+ marks more in optional thn the gs ppr....it seems checking of optional is liberal thn that of gs...thus it is more rewarding to focus on optional which can be mastered rather than gs which might throw surprises like gs2

@zombielandIn rajasthan,obc ppl are not eligible for general seats... they r strictly considered only for obc.
But in other exams,normally the cutoff is initially decided meritwise....so if an sc candidate is clearing the general category cutoff thn he will be considered in general category. In this manner all the general category seats are filled. Only after that,the sc category seats will be filled....thus in any case general category cutoff will be highest.
If strict separation will be followed then the result will be disastrous for ews category candidates as the definition of ews is very wide and almost 80-85% population becomes eligible for it but the seats r jst 10% for them. This is however not the case as general seats r filled first and only after that ews will be filled and if ews category ppl qualify in gen cat cutoff then they will be considered general thereby the cutoff for ews will always be less than general
@Shubzthere can be a slight increase in cutoffs for sc,st,obc bcuz previously they were eligible for 50% general seats as well but now bcuz of ews they will be eligible fr only 40% general seats
@ajit_kdRajasthan pcs is an example....they restricted obc candidates to 26% reserved seats only and the cutoff for obc went way ahead of general.....i'm not sure of the internal asjustments they make in a multi staged exam but for sure general category seats are considered as open for all in each stage and filled first....otherwise ab tak atleast ek baar toh upsc ke exms me obc ka cutoff general cat ke upar jana chahiye tha considering their huge population and the fact that they are almost equally competitive like the general category

Restricting ews ppl in 10% seats and making them ineligible for the remaining 40% goes against the philosophy of reservation. Agar aisa hai toh sbse zyada fayda unreserved categ ko hoga as only 15-20% population will be left in the remaining 40% seats iska mtlb sbse kam cutoff general ka jana chahiye...but this is not the case.... reservation policy states that unreserved seats r oprn for all...thats the reason why general categ cutoff is always the highest

If this happens then results will be declared very soon after the judgement. But if UPSC loses thn they will appeal to HC which might further delay the results.

@DKT3 yrs of ans writing bw mains 2016 to 2019 but u still left 200 marks blank ..... not questioning anything,jst asking ki y u took the risky step of leaving so much blank. Also with so many yrs of ans writing time mngmnt is the first thing we learn
Moreover agr 18 questions se kam kisi me likha hai toh we will definitely lose out to the person who has written avg ans fr all 20 questions...once things r engraved in our mind thn no matter hw many flowcharts n diag we draw we will definitely complete the paper

But they have to make a presentation,
So those who have such case can make a joint presentation to upsc today, tommorow or on monday,
Guys ews cutoff have been on lower side why you people should not get benefit,
