Mains 2019 Preparation and Discussion Thread

Can one write general answers in part a questions according to your experience?

Gs score barely gave above 3 in 10 markers and barely above 5-6 in 15 markers. Also model answers given by different coaching institutes of this year's questions papers vary. How have you people evaluated yourselves ?

Irrelevant to discussion right now...anyone remembers what you have written in that regional resource manufacturing question in gs1 ?

@zombielandevery answer is bombarded with so many thinkers and so many theories and so many case studies... did everyone follow the same approach or i am the only one dumb here???Depressing answer key.

@Champakbroadly i think everyone's answers match...but i cud not mention thinkers in linguistics(10 marker) and also cud not connect functionalism etc to ethnicity and communalism etc etc. 1st mains...probably doomed

@Ravswell i don't know exactly about that filling pages...1st mains...however i did fill all the pages...what worries me is that i wrote answers in a generalist way...cudnt remember textbooks definitions..and cudnt complete one question. This was my way of fucking up.

Like many people say...is completing all the papers a Must to get an edge?

Only few of us wrote on individual vs society and biased media..i am one of those...i hope that less number of essays on these topics give some advantage !!

@Dreadfuli began with general introduction about socialization then social control..gave a historical bg about rise of societies from individuals then old and modern law system etc etc nd how individual n society are complementary ...this much i remember.

@mounikamouni24-h944i began with quote and talked about what u mentioned about democracy n media etc then social media example (wo cambridge analytica and rigging of elections) role of TRAI , media corporations owned by politicians etc etc
Quote was one who controls the media controls the mind.

I didn't give many examples ... talked about socialization then how evolved social control to control deviant individuals as society didn't consider best for itself what is best for an individual. Then historical evolution of society and old n modern law system to punish individuals...then gave a biological analogy of individual as cells and society as body hence society's good always comes first..then i explained why interests of both society and individual are actually not opposed but complementary concluded on these terms.
Anyone else thinks i have fucked up?

Are anthro candidates so many? Does it imply that this year it's going down?

Rajasthan hc quashed the merit list where obc cut off went higher....it ordered that even in multistaged exam if a candidate isn't qualifying as general in mains ( even clearing as general in prelims) he will be given reserved seat if he is a reserved candidate

Does everyone write technical lexicon stuff in ethics part a questions? Are general answers not awarded?

Did anyone here used to get above 80s and 90s in mains test series ? I never did....are those test series marks reflected in actual exam as well ?

@pysh12950@Jharsugudai never went beyond 80s but i also never crossed 15-16 questions..feeling good about completing the papers except 1-2 questions...but still thinking kbhi tests me achhe ni mile marks toh konsa jaadu abhi ho jaega !

@Biryanimafia_ i take it then if you complete the papers with fine relevant stuff you ll get at least 90s....merit boils down mainly to essay and optional i think.

@Biryanimafia_ i could never manage to get even 90s...objectively speaking, i think if you have managed to get even 90s consistently, you have higher chances to make it than ones who have not been able to do so. Good luck

Someone mentioned that he got 250 something by leaving worth 60 marks and writing average content on other questions...this my first attempt so i don't know but wanted to ask ki optional ki checking itni liberal hoti h kya??

@zombielandin that attempt, you attempted all questions ? With average content? What is average content?? ,less thinkers or diagrams or case studies!! Is that what is called average?

@zombielandif got 250+ by leaving worth 65 marks that too with writing average in the rest...we have to believe that anthropology is lottery.

@zombielandi too followed traditional material only (braintree, p nath, nadeem)..but completed the paper...hope i get good marks too.
Sprinkled thinkers , case studies ,diagrams here and there as well

Many go unprepared for gs4 but psir idk must be very difficult to complete in 4 months....anthro still could be completed at least once in 3 months.@zombieland

Results are probably near...anxious times..anyone veteran here jisne kbhi mains me socha ho ki haan paper toh achhe gaye the ..selection for interview is highly probable...then na hua ho ? What were your thoughts? What might have been the mistakes?

Jinka roll number h they want it 2 b true..jinka ni dy want it 2 b fake...although most probably it is fake...don't get ur hopes up in the former case and don't loose it if u belong 2 the latter category...original one when comes may tell a different story.
