Hi everyone,
Gave my 5th and last upsc mains on 25 th September. Was feeling relieved at the prospect of the exam getting over, but there was also a sense of sadness of not being part of this preparation cycle anymore.
I Have been a member of forum since 2016 when i gave my first mains.. Met my wife here on forum, made great friends, the memories of forum will always be etched for the rest of my life.
I changed my optional to anthropology for this one last attempt. Gave my all this time,but my case rests with UPSC, as always..

GS4 is the most over rated paper after prelims. An IPS who was caught cheating scored one of the highest in Gs4 in the previous years he gave mains.
Moreover, why this craziness of testing ones writing speed? If you really want to test a candidate's aptitutude in ethical situations, give him more time to think.
Even a real life administrator is never in such a hurry.
Anyways, after 6 attempts, I have been thoroughly disillusioned with this examination process. Rther than questioning the illegitimate and illogical process of selection, coaching wallahs will always encourage you to find fault in yourself. (akhir bread and butter Hai inka).
UPSC needs serous reforms, otherwise youth will keep wasting their youthfulness over this shoddy exam.
Yes, you can say that the muhavara 'angoor khatte hain' also fits in here.But trust me, ye angoor Hai hi nahi, ye kuch aur hi Hai.Jab tak ye ecosystem humare Mann me ye baat internalise karta rahega ki FAULT khud me Hai, tab tak exam ka overhaul nahi hoga.
Main agar iss baar select Hota hoon, (bhool bhatke hi sahi), to Mera pehla interview exam ke against hi hoga

When I failed my first mains..
Couldn't sleep for 3-4daya after the result...
This is the chillest mains I have appeared since I first appeared in 2016.
Reason??
Realisation that the nature of exam is such that either you are lucky, or you are born with talents that fits upsc criteria..
And most importantly I find money and peace in endeavours away from UPSC
My intention is in no way to undermine the achievement of those who clear this exam. But to make newbies aware of the realities of this exam, so that the stress caused due this exam is powered, and no one wastes 5-6 years of their youthful year.
Frustration Hota to UPSC jaakar todfod karta. Yaha keyboard warrior nahi Banta..
@mahi2501 frustration bas isi baat ka Hai ki aaj Jo 10 cr turnover ki company banayi Hai Maine within a year, wo shayad 50-60 crore ki hoti agar 2016 me main UPSC chorke entrepreneur banta

Coachings are misguiding aspirants into believing that UPSC is predictable.
Society questions cannot be prepared satisfactorily beforehand.At best you can do is understand the relevant keywords from the syllabus, analyse current issues on the same, and remember important keywords.
Rest all depends on applying years of knowledge in that tiny span of 7 minutes.

6th and last attempt. Feeling a bit sad, but more relieved that I don't have to prepare again for this chakravyuh. I am happy at what I am doing today, and that is why I feel that, 'Jo Hota Hai achche ke liye Hota Hai..' Good bye to everyone on this platform.
A last bit of advice to newcomers - 'give this exam at max 3 years
Prepare wholeheartedly, but be ready with a backup plan always...
